Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a three-day visit to Jharkhand, Gujarat and Odisha beginning today. Mr Modi will travel to Jharkhand today and flag off six Vande Bharat trains including Tatanagar-Patna Vande Bharat train at Tatanagar Junction Railway Station. He will also lay the foundation stone and dedicate various Railway Projects worth more than 660 crore rupees to the nation. Mr Modi will also distribute sanction letters to 20 thousand Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Gramin beneficiaries in Tatanagar.

 

Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and Jharkhand BJP Chief Babulal Marandi will be present on the occasion. Mr Chouhan said, Prime Minister will also transfer more than five crore rupees directly to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries through a single click. Mr. Chouhan added that a housewarming ceremony for the newly constructed houses of 46,000 beneficiaries will also be held.

 

Our correspondent reports the routes of six Vande Bharat  trains will not only improve connectivity but also stimulate economic activity in the region.

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off  Tatanagar – Patna Vande Bharat train in a grand and colourful ceremony   at Tatanagar railway station.   Through virtual mode Mr Modi will flag off the remaining five Vande Bharat trains. Among these three trains are from Bhagalpur, Gaya and Rourkela to Kolkata. While remaining two trains are from Deoghar to Varanasi and Brahmapur to Tatanagar railway station. Mr Modi will interact with children travelling  on Tatanagar- Patna Vande Bharat.The state-of the art Vande Bharat trains will improve connectivity on these routes.These trains will boost religious tourism in the region by faster mode of commute to the pilgrimage sites like Baidyanath Dham in Deoghar,Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi,Bodhgaya in Bihar ,  Kalighat and Belur Math in Kolkata.  Prime Minister is scheduled to address a public meeting at Gopal Maidan in Jamshedpur. Ahead of the meeting , the Prime Minister will hold 1.5 km road show from Voltas Round. about to Gopal Maidan. Tomorrow, Prime Minister will interact with the beneficiaries of PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Mr Modi will inaugurate the 4th Global Renewable Energy Investors Meet and Expo (RE-INVEST) at Mahatma Mandir in Gandhinagar. Prime Minister will also inaugurate Ahmedabad Metro Rail Project and take a Metro ride from Section 1 Metro Station till GIFT City Metro station. In the evening, Mr Modi will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of multiple development projects worth more than eight thousand crore rupees in Ahmedabad.

 

On Tuesday, Prime Minister will travel to Odisha. He will interact with the beneficiaries of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban. Mr Modi will also lay the foundation stone and dedicate to the nation various development projects worth more than three thousand 800 crore rupees in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has emphasised the need for increased cooperation and coordination between NIA and State Anti-terrorism Squads to strengthen the counter-terrorism architecture. He said this while chairing the second day of the two-day National Security Strategies Conference – 2024 in New Delhi yesterday.

 

In his remarks, Home Minister appealed to state DGPs to work towards achieving Prime Minister Narender Modi’s vision of a prosperous, strong and developed India by 2047. Mr Shah underscored that substantial progress had been achieved in solving legacy national security concerns such as Jammu and Kashmir, Left Wing Extremism and North-East.

In West Bengal, Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Sandip Ghosh and former Officer-in-Charge of Tala Police Station Abhijit Mondal in connection with the rape and murder of a Kolkata doctor. They were arrested yesterday on charges of tampering with evidences and misleading the probe, which is being carried out into the gruesome incident at the state-run hospital, last month. Two more Kolkata Police officials are under the CBI scanner. The probe agency is also questioning a Sub-Inspector of Tala Police Station regarding the case. Sandip Ghosh is also accused of being involved in causing considerable delay in registration of FIR. While the trainee doctor’s body was found on the morning of 9th August, the police took over 12 hours to convert the case of unnatural death into an FIR.

In Uttar Pradesh, at least 7 people died when a three-storey building collapsed yesterday evening in Meerut district. The incident occurred in Meerut’s Zakir Colony in the Lohiya Nagar area, claiming the lives of seven people, including a young girl and two adolescents. Meerut District Magistrate Deepak Meena said that there were around 14 to 15 people in the building when the incident happened. Rescue teams, including NDRF and SDRF, have successfully pulled out 12 people from the debris. However, three other people are still trapped beneath the rubble. Heavy rain hindered the rescue operation. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has taken cognizance of the incident and monitoring the rescue operation.

Information and Broadcasting Ministry has instituted a new section as part of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) 2024 for young filmmakers called the “Best Debut Indian Film Section 2024.” The 55th IFFI is slated to be held in Goa from November 20th to 28th. The new section will highlight the creative vision and unique storytelling approaches of young filmmakers, providing a platform for new talent and showcasing the work of emerging directors. Entries for the “Best Debut Indian Film Section” are open now, and the last date of submission is September 23rd.

Doordarshan completes 65 years of its glorious journey today. Established on 15th September 1959, Doordarshan marked the beginning of India’s broadcasting era. The then President, Rajendra Prasad, inaugurated the first broadcast on that day. Today, Doordarshan remains India’s largest broadcasting entity, with a vast network of studios and transmitters. It provides television, online, and mobile services, reaching both metropolitan and regional areas, as well as international audience.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall in parts of Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand today. A similar alert has been issued for East Madhya Pradesh for tomorrow.

 

According to the IMD, very heavy rainfall is also expected in East Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, and Odisha. Additionally, parts of Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura will experience heavy rainfall. The IMD reports that the deep depression over Gangetic West Bengal is anticipated to move slowly westward across the region and maintain its intensity as a deep depression until the afternoon. The IMD, predicts a moderate risk of flash floods in several watersheds and neighborhoods in Bihar, Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal, and Jharkhand. The department advises fishermen not to venture into the northern Bay of Bengal and along the coasts of Bangladesh, West Bengal, and Odisha until tomorrow morning.

Russia and Ukraine have exchanged 206 prisoners of war who were captured during their ongoing conflict. Russian Defence Ministry said that a total of 103 Russian servicemen who were taken prisoner in Kursk region have been released. In exchange, 103 Ukrainian prisoners of war have been transferred. The Russian Defence Ministry said that the United Arab Emirates mediated efforts for the exchange.

Ace Indian javelin throw athlete Neeraj Chopra finished at second position with a best throw of 87.86m at the Diamond League Final in Brussels, last night. Neeraj missed out the top spot by just 1cm margin. Paris Olympics bronze medalist Anderson Peters hurled the spear to a distance of 87.87m to claim the top position. Meanwhile, Julian Weber of Germany with his best attempt of 85.97m, finished third.
