Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said today that India is rapidly advancing in breakthrough technologies like semi-cryogenic engines and electric propulsion, and will soon launch the Gaganyaan mission. The Prime Minister asserted that in the coming times, India will build its own space station. In a video message, the Prime Minister extended greetings to everyone associated with the space sector, including scientists and all the youth, on the occasion of National Space Day.

 

Mr. Modi said in a short time, National Space Day has become an occasion of enthusiasm and attraction among the youth.

The Prime Minister added that the space sector is carving one milestones after another and in the last 11 years, the government has done many reforms in the space sector. Mr. Modi mentioned that space-tech is also becoming a part of governance in India.

The Prime Minister further highlighted that India’s progress in the space sector today is making the lives of ordinary citizens easier.

Minister of State for Space Dr Jitendra Singh has said opening up the space sector for the private sector was the greatest reform done in the last 11 years. Addressing the 2nd National Space Day function in New Delhi today, Dr Singh said, with the mantra of reform, perform and transform the space sector is moving ahead. Dr Singh said, two years ago, India’s Chandrayaan mission landed on the Moon’s South Pole, making India the first country to do so.

Astronaut Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla said, India has some very big ambitions going forward with the Gaganyaan Mission, the Bharatiya Antriksh Station and eventually landing on the moon.

ISRO Chairman Dr V Narayanan expressed pride and happiness at India’s progress in the space sector. He added that India has achieved leadership in 9 space missions. In an exclusive interview with Akashvani News Dr Narayanan highlighted that ISRO engineers helped avert a disaster in the AXIOM 4 mission by detecting a liquid oxygen leak. Their insistence on further checks led to the discovery of a critical crack, prompting the launch scheduled for June 11 to be called off.

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar has said that negotiations between India-US trades are still going on. He said the government is committed to defend the interests of farmers and small producers of the country. Addressing the ET World Leaders Forum 2025 in New Delhi today, the Minister said, India is clear about its red lines in negotiations with the United States and will make decisions in its national interest.  

 

On oil imports and sanctions, the Minister said, it is presented as an oil issue but it is still not applied to the largest importer, China. He said, arguments used to target India have not been applied to China. He stressed on India’s strategic autonomy saying that the decisions taken are in the national interest. He said, the Government is giving special emphasis on self reliance or Atma Nirbharta.

Speaking on the India-Pakistan relations, Dr Jaishankar said, on the issue of mediating since the 1970s, for more than 50 years now, there is a national consensus in this country that India do not accept mediation in its relations with Pakistan.

The Central Bureau of Investigation has carried out raids at the premises linked to Anil Ambani in Mumbai, in connection with an alleged bank fraud case. The case involves an alleged fraud that resulted in a loss of 2,000 crore rupees to the State Bank of India. The raid comes following a complaint by the SBI, which classified the company and its promoter as ‘fraud’ on June 13. The classification was in line with RBI’s Master Directions on Fraud Risk Management and the bank’s own policy framework.

The India Meteorological Department(IMD) has issued a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall over East Rajasthan today. IMD said that heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places is expected over Delhi-NCR, Bihar, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, Punjab, Uttarakhand and Northern region for next 2 to 3 days. According to IMD, A fresh spell of rain is also expected over Gujarat region from Monday onwards. Similar conditions are predicted over Odisha,Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal. The met department has also said that Tamil Nadu and Telangana will experience light to moderate rainfall today.

Due to extremely heavy rains in Eastern Rajasthan, flood-like situation prevails in Kota, Bundi, Baran and Sawai Madhopur districts. The Met Department has issued  red alert for heavy rains in Chittorgarh and Bhilwara of the state today. Apart from this, an orange alert has been issued for nine districts and  yellow alert for many other districts. 50 centimeters of rain has fallen in Nainwa of Bundi district. In the last 24 hours, very heavy rains have been recorded at many places in Bundi, Kota, Tonk, Karauli, Baran, Jaipur and Sawai Madhopur districts. More from our correspondent :

“Hadoti region is the most affected due to heavy rain. Several places are submerged. Contact of many villages to district headquarters has been cut off. Heavy rains have caused havoc and  extensive damage in both rural and urban areas. Traffic has been stopped on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway in Kota. Army along with NDRF and SDRF are deployed for relief and rescue work in the affected areas. Holiday has been declared for schools in many districts today. Meanwhile, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla is visiting the affected areas of Kota division. Jitendra Dwivedi, Akashvani News, Jaipur.”

Following intense rainfall late last night in Tharali tehsil of Chamoli district in Uttarakhand, relief and rescue operations are currently underway. Our correspondent reports that the sudden downpour caused a surge in the Tunri stream, resulting in the debris entering several homes, including parts of the Tharali market area.

“District Magistrate Sandeep Tiwari is present at the disaster affected area, overseeing the ongoing operations. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed concerned authorities to intense relief and rescue efforts in Tharali. He also held telephonic conversations with local representatives from Chamoli district to assess the extent of the damage and urged them to support the administration in the ongoing efforts. The District Magistrate has issued orders to temporarily operate damaged buildings and the tehsil office from the Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam’s guest house and office premises in Kulsari, as well as the Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam office in Dewal. These locations have also been designated as temporary relief shelters for the affected residents. Meanwhile the Met Department has issued a warning for heavy rainfall across various parts of the state over the next two days. Sakshi Singh, Akashvani News,”

In Tamilnadu, the Regional Met Department has predicted rainfall in most parts for the next two days. The forecast announced the formation of a fresh low pressure in the North West Bay of Bengal off Odisha West Bengal coast around the 25th.

In Bihar, at least eight people were killed and five others injured this morning in a road accident under Daniyawan police station area in Patna district. According to Police, the accident occurred near Sigriyawa Station on the State Highway in Daniyawan, when an autorickshaw was hit by a truck, killing eight passengers on the spot. All the passengers were on their way to Triveni Ghat in Fatuha to take a holy dip in the Ganga river.

Seven suspected Islamic State (IS) terrorists, including two women have been arrested in Iraq’s Nineveh province. According to Iraq’s military intelligence, the arrests were made in several areas of the province yesterday following accurate intelligence information and intensive field monitoring. The suspects were later handed over to the authorities. The detainees were wanted for their involvement with the Islamic State.

The Indian compound men’s Under-21 team clinched their first-ever Junior World title at the 2025 World Archery Youth Championships in Canada today. The Indian trio of Kushal Dalal, Mihir Apar, and Ganesh Mani Ratnam defeated Germany in a shootoff after the scores were tied at 233 each in the gold medal match.

Indian shooters Arjun Babuta and Elavenil Valarivan clinched gold medal in 10m Air Rifle mixed team event  at the 16th Asian Shooting Championship in Shymkent, Kazakhstan. The duo defeated China’s Peng Xinlu and LU Dingke by 17-11 in the final to take home the title.
