The Lok Sabha has been adjourned sine die. The Monsoon session began on the 21st of July. When the House assembled after the first adjournment at noon, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla said, during the Session, 14 Government Bills were introduced and a total of 12 bills were passed. He said a two-day special discussion was also held on Operation Sindoor, which concluded with a reply from Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Speaker also informed that a special discussion was initiated on the achievements of India’s space programme in the Lok Sabha. He said a total of 419 starred questions were included in the agenda for this session, but due to continuous pre-planned disruptions, only 55 questions could be taken for oral reply.

 

The Speaker said the kind of language and behaviour witnessed in this session is not according to the dignity of Parliament. Mr. Birla emphasised that it is a collective responsibility of the members to contribute to maintaining Parliamentary decorum.

 

Earlier, when the Lok Sabha assembled at 11 AM, the Opposition parties began protesting demanding a discussion on the issue of Special Intensive Revision of the electoral roll in Bihar. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla began the Question Hour, but due to the Opposition uproar, he adjourned the House till noon.

Proceedings of the Rajya Sabha were also disrupted over the issue of Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar leading to the adjournment of the Upper House till 2 PM. When the Rajya Sabha assembled at 11 AM, Deputy Chairman Harivansh said, he received 18 adjournment notices from various political parties on different issues. He, however, rejected notices, citing the ruling. Following this, the Opposition members started sloganeering. Mr. Harivansh tried to run the Zero Hour, but due to the Opposition’s protest on SIR, it was not transacted. As the pandemonium continued, the Deputy Chairman adjourned the House till 2 PM.

I.N.D.I.A. bloc Vice Presidential nominee and former Supreme Court Judge B Sudershan Reddy filed his nomination at Parliament House today. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Senior Congress leader Sonia Gandhi, NCP (SCP) leader Sharad Pawar, Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav, DMK leader Tiruchi Shiva and TMC leader Shatabdi Roy, among others, were present on the occasion.

 

NDA’s Vice Presidential candidate C P Radhakrishnan had filed his nomination papers yesterday.

The scrutiny of the nominations will take place tomorrow. The nominations can be withdrawn till the 25th of this month. The Vice Presidential Election will be held on the 9th of next month. The election has been necessitated due to the resignation of Jagdeep Dhankhar last month, citing health reasons.

On the passage of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill 2025 in the Lok Sabha yesterday, Dr Rohit Mehra, Dean, Research and Consultancy, Dr. BR Ambedkar National Institute of Technology at Jalandhar in Punjab has welcomed the government’s effort. He said the bill is aiming to regulate online gaming by prohibiting harmful money gaming services.

In the last 10 years, the country has witnessed phenomenal and exponential progress in the space sector. ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan today said this briefing the media in New Delhi. He said that the missions completed from 2015 to 2025 are almost double those from 2005 to 2015. He asserted that the Axiom-4 mission was a prestigious Mission, as Air Force Group Captain and astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, the first Indian was taken to the International Space Station and was brought back safely. He added that in the space industry, three hundred startups have been created, which was just one ten years ago.

 

Speaking at the event, Air Force Group Captain and astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla thanked the Indian government and team ISRO for making the Axiom 4 Mission possible. He said that knowledge received from the Axiom-4 Space Mission will be invaluable for India’s future Gaganyaan Mission and setting up Bharat Antariksh Space Station.

 

Science and Technology Minister Jitendra Singh, and Group Captain Prashant Balakrishnan Nair who is also a part of India’s Gaganyaan crew, addressed the joint press briefing.

In Gujarat, the intensity of rains has eased, however, flood-like conditions continue to prevail in several coastal districts of Saurashtra, including Junagadh, Gir Somnath, and Devbhumi Dwarka. Torrential rains over the past few days have caused severe waterlogging in many rural areas of Junagadh Gir Somnath, and Porbandar, disrupting normal life and affecting essential services. Power supply remains disrupted in more than 200 villages across the flood-affected districts.

Heavy rain in the catchment areas of the Godavari River is causing flood-like situation in the Gowthami branch near Yanam. Irrigation Department officials said that nearly ten lakh cusecs of water were released into the Bay of Bengal today.

 

The first flood warning has been sounded at the Dowleswaram barrage. Water has started entering low-lying areas like Francetippa.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy rainfall over the North Gujarat Region. Speaking exclusively to Akashvani News, senior IMD scientist, Dr R K Jenamani, said very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated pockets of the Western Himalayan region, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Haryana from tomorrow.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar and West Bengal tomorrow. During his visit to Bihar, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects worth around 13 thousand crore rupees at Gaya.

 

During his visit to West Bengal, Mr Modi will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate multiple development projects worth over 5,200 crore rupees. He will also flag off metro train services on the newly constructed sections in Kolkata.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Fiji, Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka, will be on a three-day visit to India from Sunday. The External Affairs Ministry, in a statement, said, during his visit, Mr. Rabuka will hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. Prime Minister Modi will host a lunch in honour of the visiting dignitary.

CCPA took cognisance of the misleading advertisements of the ride-hailing platform that promised consumers Auto in five minutes or get 50 rupees and Guaranteed Auto.

The Supreme Court today refused urgent listing of a plea challenging a notification issued by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) with regard to mass capture and sheltering of stray dogs. A bench of Justices J K Maheshwari and Vijay Bishnoi declined to accord an urgent hearing after a lawyer mentioned that an application had been filed in this regard. On the 11th of August, an order issued by the Apex court had directed municipal authorities to begin capturing stray dogs from across Delhi and to create shelters with a capacity for at least five thousand animals within eight weeks.

Rajya Sabha has taken up the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, for consideration and passing. This Bill encourages e-sports and online social games while prohibiting harmful online money gaming services, advertisements, and financial transactions related to them. here is a provision of imprisonment up to three years and a fine of up to one crore rupees or both in case of violation of the law related to online money gaming. Moving the Bill, Electronics and IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said online money gaming has become a public health menace. He said several families have faced financial distress due to online money gaming.

The Ukrainian Air Force today said, Russia launched one of its biggest aerial attacks of this year at Ukraine, firing 574 drones and 40 missiles overnight. The attack mostly targeted western regions of the country. The strikes killed at least one person and injured 15 others, according to officials.

 

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy condemned the attack, and said Moscow has shown no signs of pursuing meaningful negotiations to end the war and urged the international community to respond with stronger pressure.

In Sports, the iconic Dal Lake of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir is all set to host the first-ever Khelo India Water Sports Festival, starting this evening. Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs Raksha Nikhil Khadse, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will grace the inaugural ceremony at Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre. The three-day event will witness over 500 athletes from 36 states and Union Territories vying for 24 gold medals in rowing, kayaking, and canoeing.
