Prime Minister Narendra Modi, said that today yoga offers a pathway to peace amid growing stress, unrest, and instability in various parts of the world and called for a collective effort to advance a peaceful, balanced, and sustainable world. He said Yoga should guide the world from conflict to cooperation. Addressing the celebrations on the 11th International Day of Yoga along the scenic coastline at Vishakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, the Prime Minister said Yoga is the pause button humanity needs to breathe, to balance, to become whole again.

 

The Prime Minister said the theme of this year’s day, Yoga for One Earth, One Health, reminds us how the world comes together to secure a happy and healthy future for present and future generations.

 

He said to spread Yoga in the world, India is further strengthening the science of Yoga through modern research and the major medical institutions of the country are engaged in research on yoga.

International Yoga Day is being observed with Zeal across the country.

 

President Droupadi Murmu took part in a yoga camp held at the Police Line in Dehradun today. Highlighting India’s pivotal role in promoting yoga on the world stage, the President said the global community now holds greater respect for yoga, with people across continents reaping its benefits.     

 

In Ladakh, International Yoga Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Khree Sultan Choo Sports Stadium in Kargil.

In Goa, the 11th International Day of Yoga was marked with grandeur and spiritual energy. Union Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, Shripad Naik, led the celebrations at the majestic Churches and Convents of Old Goa – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Addressing the gathering, he highlighted how yoga nurtures not only the body but also the mind and spirit, and called it a true path to global harmony. Meanwhile, at the Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Stadium in Taleigao, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant emphasized yoga as India’s greatest gift to the world But the most awe-inspiring moment of the day… unfolded thousands of kilometers away… in the icy, remote expanse of Antarctica. Yes, you heard right! India’s National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research organized yoga sessions at both its Bharati and Maitri stations – proving that the spirit of yoga knows no boundaries… not even the South Pole! Maharashtra witnessed a series of events today to celebrate the International Day of Yoga with widespread participation from government bodies, institutions, and the public. Let us listen in from our Mumbai correspondent:

 

Maharashtra Governor C. P. Radhakrishnan participated in the International Yoga Day celebration at Raj Bhavan today. Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal led the celebrations in Mumbai. Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, also participated in three yoga sessions organised at Kanheri Caves, Dahisar, and Kandivali in Mumbai. Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Khadse, attended the International Yoga Day event in Bhusawal. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis attended the ‘Varkari Bhaktiyog’ event in Pune on the occasion of International Yoga Day and highlighted the importance of yoga in day-to-day life. In an effort to promote inclusive wellness, the Ali Yavar Jung National Institute of Speech and Hearing Disabilities (Divyangjan) organised a special session titled ‘Yoga: A Healthy Living for Divyangjans’. In Madhya Pradesh, the 11th International Day of Yoga was celebrated with enthusiasm across the state today.

 

A state-level yoga practice session was held at Atal Path in Bhopal. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav, Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs Durgadas Uikey participated in it. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said on this occasion that yoga calms the mind. Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia participated in the yoga programme at the historic Rajwada in Indore and Union Minister of State Savitri Thakur participated in the yoga program at Mandu in Dhar.Yoga programs were also held at other historical sites including the Buddhist Stupa of Sanchi, Bhimbetka cave complex , the temple group of Khajuraho and Kanchana Ghat in Orchha. In Jammu & Kashmir, lakhs of people joined Yoga celebrations in all 10 districts across Kashmir region. A mega event was organized on the banks of famous Dal Lake in Srinagar, early this morning.

In Punjab, Border Security Force (BSF), celebrated the Yoga Day under the theme “Ek Prithvee, Ek Swaasthya Ke Liye Yog”, at the Attari Joint Check Post by involving residents of border villages in Amritsar.

 

Inspector General of BSF Punjab Frontier, Dr. Atul Fulzele said that the event was also aimed at uniting BSF troops with residents of border villages.

On the Occasion of the 11th International Day of Yoga, National Capital- Delhi witnessed Union Ministers, leaders and officials performing yoga with Yoga enthusiasts to emphasise the importance of wellness and mindfulness. More from our correspondent:

 

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla led the celebrations for the International Day of Yoga at Parliament Premises. While, Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda attended the celebrations at Kartavya Path, External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar practiced Yoga with Envoys of different countries at Nehru Park. Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan  attended International Yoga Day programme at Pusa with Lakhpati Didis. Housing and Urban Affairs Minster Manohar Lal practiced Yoga at Jantar Mantar and Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya attened Yoga day event at IG stadium with Fit India Ambassadors. Around the globe, thousands of Yoga enthusiasts participated in the International Yoga Day celebrations by joining events focused on wellness, mindfulness, and sustainable living. A report;

 

In the UK, from iconic London landmarks to the serene campuses of Oxford and Cambridge, yoga mats were unrolled at various venues, drawing enthusiastic participation from people of all ages and backgrounds. Indian High Commissioner to the UK, Vikram Doraiswami, said on social media that the Commission’s cultural centre organised Yoga Day events across several locations in the UK, particularly in major university towns such as Oxford, Cambridge, and Southampton.


The Consulate General of India in New York hosted vibrant celebrations across US. and also organised a special yoga session at Times Square, one of the world’s most iconic landmarks.
          

In Japan, over two thousand Yoga enthusiasts joined to celebrate the Day in a grand event, held at the Buddhist Temple Tsukiji Hongwanji in Tokyo early morning today. In Singapore, people gathered at Gardens by the Bay, to practice Yogasanas under the iconic supertrees.  The High Commission of India in Singapore posted on social media that with this year’s theme Yoga for One Earth, One Health, everyone was reminded of the deep connection between personal well-being and the health of our planet.

In Myanmar, the Indian Consulate General in Mandalay celebrated the day with approximately 700 Yoga enthusiasts.


Indian High Commissions in several Pacific countries including, New Zealand, Fiji, Papua New Guinea and Tonga, also organised IDY celebratory events. with Tripti Srivastava report Aishwarya Rai Nigam Akashvani news Delhi.

In a significant gesture of regional solidarity, India has extended its evacuation efforts under Operation Sindhu to include citizens of Nepal and Sri Lanka stranded in Iran. According to a social media post on X, this move follows formal requests from the Governments of Nepal and Sri Lanka.

 

The Indian Embassy in Tehran will now coordinate assistance and evacuation for nationals of the two South Asian neighbours, alongside Indian citizens.

 

Sri Lankan nationals in Iran have been advised to contact the Indian Embassy via Telegram, or through the emergency numbers shared on the X post.

Tensions continue to rise in the region as Israel escalates its military campaign against Iran. Reports indicate that on Saturday, Israeli forces targeted  Iran’s largest nuclear facility ,the Isfahan nuclear research complex in central Iran. The country’s gross direct tax collections for the financial year 2025-26 rose by 4.86 per cent to about 5.45 lakh crore rupees as of June 19 compared to about 5.19 lakh crore rupees in the same period last year.

 

According to data released by the Income Tax Department, advance tax collections during the period stood at over 1.55 lakh crore rupees, registering a growth of 3.87 per cent. This was led by a 5.86 per cent increase in corporate advance tax payments, even as collections from non-corporate taxpayers declined by 2.68 per cent.
