BJP is poised to form government in Delhi after 27 years. It has unseated Aam Aadmi Party from power in the National Capital.
Results have been declared for 16 seats for the 70 member Delhi NCT Assembly Election. BJP has won 8 seats and is leading in 40 seats, while Aam Aadmi Party has won 8 seats and is leading on 14 seats. Third contender Congress has been wiped out.
In by-election for Milkipur assemby constituency in Uttar Pradesh, BJP’s Chandrabhanu Paswan is leading. Counting of votes for by-election in Erode (East) assembly constituency in Tamil Nadu is in progress. Chandirakumar V. C. of Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam is leading in the seat.

For BJP, Rekha Gupta has won the Shalimar Bagh constituency, Manjinder Singh Sirsa in Rajouri Garden, Tilak Ram Gupta in Tri Nagar, Umang Bajaj from Rajinder Nagar, Ravi Negi from Patparganj, Arvinder Singh Lovely from Gandhi Nagar and Chandan Kumar Choudhary in Sangam Vihar contituency.
For AAP, Virender Singh Kadian has won the Delhi Cantt constituency, Kuldeep Kumar has taken the Kondli seat, Jarnail Singh in Tilak Nagar seat, Imran Hussain in Ballimaran, Sahi Ram from Tughlakabad,Mukesh Kumar Ahlawat has won the Sultanpur Majra constituency, Gopal Rai in Babarpur and Punardeep Singh Sawhney in Chandni Chowk.
AAP Chief Arvind Kejriwal and Congress’ Sandeep Dikshit are trailing in New Delhi constituency to their nearest BJP candidate, Parvesh Sahib Singh.
Shikha Roy of BJP has taken a lead of more than 2800 votes over her nearest AAP rival Sourav Bhardwaj after all the 14 rounds of counting.
Other prominent AAP leaders who are trailing include Former Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, Somnath Bharti, and Awadh Ojha. Sisodia is trailing behind Tarvinder Singh Marwah of BJP in Jangpura constituency.
Kulwant Rana of BJP has taken a lead of nearly 30 thousand votes after all 20 rounds of counting in Rithala.
Karnail Singh of BJP is ahead by over 20 thousand votes in Shakur Basti after all rounds of counting.
In Kasturba Nagar, Neeraj Basoya of BJP is leading by nearly 11 thousand votes after all the 15 rounds.
Senior BJP leader and three time MLA from Vishwas Nagar, Om Prakash Sharma is leading in the seat by almost 25 thousand votes, after 15th of 16 rounds of counting.
BJP’s Mohan Singh Bisht is leading by over 38 thousand votes in Mustafabad constituency.
Ajay Mahawar of BJP is maintaining a lead of nearly 19 thousand votes in Ghonda.
AAP leader Gopal Rai is leading in Babarpur constituency by over 17 thousand votes to his nearest rival.
AAP’s Prem Chauhan is maintaining a lead of over 25 thousand in Deoli.

Senior BJP leader Baijayant Jay Panda has said that the biggest reason for his party’s victory is the guarantee of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He told media that people believe that the promises made in the BJP manifesto will be fulfilled. He said, people wanted change in Delhi for its development.
BJP candidate from New Delhi assembly constituency Parvesh Verma said, BJP government will bring Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to Delhi.
Reacting on the trends, Congress senior leader Priyanka Gandhi said, people voted for change in Delhi Assembly polls. She said that congress will introspect about result.
AAP candidate from Jangpura constituency, Manish Sisodia has conceded defeat. He said that the Party workers fought well.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that Delhiites have shown that the public cannot be misled by repeated false promises. Reacting to the Delhi Assembly poll results, Mr. Shah said that the public has responded to the dirty Yamuna, dirty drinking water, broken roads, overflowing sewers, and liquor shops open in every street with their votes. He congratulated all the workers of BJP on the party’s grand victory in Delhi. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that BJP’s landslide victory in the Delhi Assembly elections is a victory of faith in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the policies of BJP.

In Bangladesh, at least 14 people, almost all belonging to the mobs out to vandalise and destroy any and all signs of the Awami League, were injured as they came under attack in Gazipur on Friday night. Awami League cadres ambushed the mob’s attempt to vandalise the residence of former liberation war affairs minister Mozammel Haque.
Later, army personnel arrived at the scene, rescued the injured and sent them to the emergency treatment at a Hospital.
This is the first time in the last three days, the mob got resistance from the local people and cadres of Sheikh Hasina’s Party.

The United States’ Bureau of Labour Statistics (BLS) under Department of Labour yesterday reported that the unemployment rate edged down to 4 percent in January, lowest since May 2024. Major unemployment decline was observed in the mining, quarrying, and oil and gas extraction industry. However, job gains occurred in health care, retail trade, and social assistance. The report also revealed 55 lakh people are currently not in the labour force who want a job.

“Even after the three Amrit Snan on Makar Sankranti, Mauni Amavasya and Basant Panchami in Mahakumbh, the enthusiasm of devotees remains unwavering. Prominent personalities from politics, cinema, and sports are also visiting to take a holy dip. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Bollywood celebrities like Anupam Kher, Hema Malini and Rajkumar Rao, Famous Sports personalities like former cricketer Suresh Raina, boxing champions Vijender Singh and Mary Kom, badminton star and Olympic medallist Saina Nehwal also took the sacred dip at the holy Sangam. President Droupadi Murmu is also likely to visit Prayagraj on Monday to participate in the sacred ritual at Triveni Sangam. The Mahakumbh which began on 13th January will continue till 26th February.
