Prime Minister Narendra Modi distributed over 65 lakh property cards under the SVAMITVA Scheme to property owners through video conferencing today. The property cards have been distributed in over 50 thousand villages across ten states and two Union Territories.

Speaking on the occasion, the Prime Minister termed this day historic for the rural economy. He said, over two crore 25 lakh property documents have been issued in the last five years since the implementation of SVAMITVA scheme.

While interacting with the beneficiries, Mr. Modi said, lack of proper property documents is a big problem which causes disputes. He said proper documentations of the property will facilitate getting loans from the banks, and protect from illegal encroachments. He said, property documents will unlock the economic potential of one hundred lakh crore rupees in the country which will prove instrumental in the economic empowerment of people.

The Prime Minister said, SVAMITVA scheme will make the rural economy the core pillar of development. Mr. Modi said, the government is working for the digitization of land records and so far 23 crore Bhu Aadhar numbers have been issued. He said 98 percent land records have already been digitized in the country in the last seven to eight years. He pointed out that with the availability of property rights, the problems of the Gram Panchayats will be resolved and they will also become financially empowered. He said, valid property documents will also make it easier to get a proper claim in case of a disaster.

The Prime Minister said, women will play a crucial role in building a developed India. He said, empowerment of women is the focus area of his government and women are placed at the centre of every major scheme.

SVAMITVA scheme aims to provide Record of Rights to property owners in village areas.

Mr Modi said this sharing a MyGov India social media post highlighting how Rural Land Digitisation is reshaping the future of agriculture in India. The post said that the transformative step has brought transparency, accessibility, and empowerment to rural communities by helping to reduce land disputes and improve land management. It added that this has made it easier for rural citizens to claim ownership and rights, shaping the future of farming.

A total of One thousand five hundred 21 nominations have been filed for the 70 member Delhi assembly elections. According to the election commission, 680 nomination papers were filed on the last day of nominations yesterday. The Poll body said the maximum number of nomination papers have been filed in the New Delhi Assembly constituency. A total of 29 candidates have filed 40 nomination papers for this seat. Aam Aadmi Party National Convener Arvind Kejriwal is contesting elections from this seat against BJP’s Parvesh Verma and Congress’ Sandeep Dixit. The Commission also said that a total of 18 candidates have filed 28 nomination papers from the Kalkaji seat, from which incumbent Chief Minister Atishi is contesting against BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri and Congress’ Alka Lamba.

The Scrutiny of nomination papers is taking place today and the last date for withdrawal of candidature is the 20th of this month.

The National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) has announced the launch of Internet Governance Internship and Capacity building scheme. The Program will offer a bi-annual internship with two parallel tracks, a six month and a three month program.

Electronics and Information Technology Ministry in a statement said that each intern will be mentored by subject matter expert from International Organizations, members from Special Interest Groups, high ranked retired government officials and faculty advisors from recognized institutions.

In Bihar, the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on Waqf Amendment Act has started consultations with different stakeholders including representatives of Waqf Boards in Patna. Talking to the media in Patna, Chairman of JPC Jagadambika Pal said,  the committee will submit its report in upcoming Budget Session of parliament.

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has attached 142 immovable properties worth 300 crore rupees in a MUDA-linked money laundering case allegedly involving Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and others. The attachment is part of a money laundering probe into alleged irregularities in land allotment by Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).

The Kumbhvani news bulletins are broadcast from 8.30 to 8.40 AM in the morning, 2.30 to 2.40 PM in the afternoon and 8.30 to 8.40 PM in the evening. More from our correspondent:

The initiative will help the devotees and pilgrims to get  information and updates on various activities related to the Mela. Kumbhvani news bulletins are also heard on 103.5 MHz frequency, NewsonAir App and Waves OTT platform.

The much awaited verdict on the RG Kar Medical College case in Kolkata will be given today by Sealdah Court. The investigation agency CBI has chargesheeted Sanjay Rai in the case. On the other hand, the parents of the victim, junior doctors, and various sections of society expressed their anguish over the fact that the CBI has not been able to chargesheet any other person in this case.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has announced the development of a single platform for transport in Mumbai. Speaking to the media after a meeting with Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw in Mumbai today, Mr. Fadnavis explained that this platform will allow people to plan their journey using a single ticket across metro.

The Mumbai Police questioned a carpenter in connection with the knife attack on Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan at his  Bandra residence. The carpenter, was questioned at Bandra police station yesterday as his facial features matched the suspected attacker. The police investigation is underway.

India and USA has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation and information sharing on cyber threat intelligence and digital forensics in criminal investigations. In a social media post, Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal said that the MoU was signed by Ambassador of India to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra and Acting U.S. Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Kristie Canegallo in Washington DC.

Israel will release 735 Palestinian prisoners during the first phase of the Gaza ceasefire and hostage release deal agreed upon with Hamas. In a statement, Israel’s Justice Ministry said the deal is expected to go into effect tomorrow and include three phases. The first phase is expected to last for 42 days, during which 33 Israeli hostages are set to be released. The ministry released the names of all prisoners set for release, except for those of 25 minors, aged between 16 and 18.

The ministry’s statement was released shortly after the Israeli government approved the deal, paving the way for implementation from tomorrow.

In the India Open Badminton tournament, the Indian Men’s Doubles pair of Chirag Shetty and Satwiksairaj Rankireddy will face the third-seeded Malaysian duo of Goh Sze Fei and Nur Izzuddin in the semifinal at the K. D. Jadhav Indoor Stadium in New Delhi this evening.

The Indian duo defeated the South Korean combination of Jin Yong and Kang Min-hyuk 21-10, 21-17 in the quarterfinal last evening.
