Election Commission of India (ECI) has notified the category of electors mentioned for the purpose of facility of voting through postal ballot as absentee voters in the category of persons employed in essential services. The list includes the employees of Metro, Railways, BSNL, Electricity and Health Departments, Fire Services, Postal Services, Aviation, Disaster Management, Doordarshan and Akashvani and media persons authorised by the Commission for polling day coverage among others.
The persons can cast vote by postal ballot on duty on the day of poll in the current General Elections, Legislative Assemblies and bye-elections in 26 Assembly constituencies in 13 States.

सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने नागरिकता संशोधन अधिनियम-सीएए को लागू करने पर रोक लगाने से इंकार कर दिया है। न्यायालय ने पिछले सप्ताह लागू हुए इस कानून को चुनौती देने वाली 237 याचिकाओं के जवाब देने के लिए केंद्र सरकार को तीन सप्ताह का समय दिया है।
इण्डियन यूनियन मुस्लिम लीग, कांग्रेस के जयराम रमेश और तृणमूल कांग्रेस की महुआ मोइत्रा सहित कई लोगों ने इस मामले में याचिकाएं दायर की हैं। मामले की अगली सुनवाई नौ अप्रैल को होगी।

The Lokpal has ordered a probe by Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against former TMC MP Mahua Moitra in cash-for-query charges. The Lokpal in its order has said that there is “sufficient prima facie evidence against Moitra on record that deserves deeper scrutiny. The directive came while deciding a complaint by BJP Lok Sabha Member Nishikant Dubey alleging that Moitra had asked questions in the Lok Sabha in exchange for cash and gifts from Dubai-based businessman Darshan Hiranandani.
It has directed the CBI to complete investigations in all aspects of the allegations against Moitra within six months and also file periodical reports every month regarding the status of the investigation. It added that after careful evaluation and consideration of the entire material on record, there remains no doubt regarding the fact that the allegations levelled against Moitra, most of which are supported by cogent evidence, are extremely serious in nature, especially in view of the position held by her.
Mahua Moitra was expelled from the Lok Sabha in December last year based on a recommendation by the Ethics Committee.

Gross Direct Tax collection has registered a growth of 18.74 percent during the current Financial Year. According to the Finance Ministry, gross direct tax collection stands at over 22 lakh 27 thousand crore rupees which is more than 18 lakh 75 thousand crore rupees reported in the corresponding period of financial year 2022-23.
The Finance Ministry said, refunds amounting to three lakh 36 thousand 808 crore rupees have also been issued in the Financial Year 2023-24 which is 12.74 percent higher in comparison to the refunds issued during the same period in the preceding year.

Chennai recorded near normal day temperatures for the last two days. The Met department said that temperatures are likely to continue in the same way this month. Though high humidity is being witnessed the sea breeze from the Bay of Bengal will keep the temperatures under control till next month. Temperatures touched 35 degrees for the last few days due to the delayed entry of sea breeze. Interior districts of the State are likely to record two degrees above normal temperatures.

The District Electoral officer said that monitoring has been stepped up to check for violation of the model code of conduct. Flying squads have been involved in taking photos and videos of the vehicles which carry luggages and passengers. A central control room has also been set up for voters to register their complaints.

World Social Work Day was celebrated in Bengaluru City University. The Vice Chancellor Prof Lingaraj Gandhi inaugurated the event in Bengaluru. Thereafter he greeted all the social workers across the world who are working for the upliftment of the downtrodden. He called upon them to dedicate their time and energy to empower the poor, deprived and exploited sections of the society so that they too can live a life of dignity. He further said that they should devote their knowledge and skills for social welfare. The Women and Children Development Department Deputy Director from the Bengaluru Division Dr Siddaramanna said that the Social Work graduates in the state have ample employment opportunities. He asked the Social workers in the state to achieve social upliftment for the nation to progress. On this occasion, the students demonstrated scientific methods to address social problems.

Jharkhand Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan will take charge as the governor of Telangana later this morning. President Droupadi Murmu has given additional responsibilities of Telangana state to Jharkhand Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan following the resignation of Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan two days ago. Radhakrishnan has also been given additional responsibilities as the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. Radhakrishnan will take charge at 11.15 am this morning at the Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad. State High court Chief Justice, Justice Alok Aradhe will administer the oath.
Meanwhile, Radhakrishnan thanked President Droupadi Murmu for giving him additional responsibilities of Telangana and Puducherry. In a twitter post, Radhakrishnan said he is humbled and blessed to be given the additional responsibility to serve as the Governor of Telangana and Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry. Meanwhile, the authorities have made elaborate arrangements for the event at the Raj Bhavan.

दिल्ली पुलिस ने लोकसभा चुनावों में सोशल मीडिया या एसएमएस से आपत्तिजनक सामग्री के प्रसार की चुनौती से निपटने के लिए संयुक्त पुलिस आयुक्त, बी. शंकर जयसवाल को नोडल अधिकारी नियुक्त किया है। दिल्ली पुलिस ने कहा कि एसएमएस और सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफॉर्म के माध्यम से प्रसारित आपत्तिजनक संदेश चुनाव कानूनों, आचार संहिता और आयोग के निर्देशों का उल्लंघन करके चुनावी प्रक्रियाओं को बाधित कर सकते हैं। दिल्ली पुलिस ने लोगों से आपत्तिजनक सामग्री की सूचना तुरंत नोडल अधिकारी को देने का भी आग्रह किया।

अखिल भारतीय आयुर्विज्ञान संस्थान-एम्स नई दिल्ली ने ब्रेन से संबंधित जटिल समस्याओं के त्वरित पहचान के लिए अत्याधुनिक एमआरआई मशीन-7-टेस्ला का उपयोग करने पर विचार कर रही है। फिलहाल एम्स में एक दशमलव पांच और तीन टेस्ला मशीन का उपयोग किया जा रहा है। उन्होंने बताया कि ब्रेन से संबंधित जटिल समस्याओं का पता 7 टेस्ला एमआरआई मशीन के जरिये लगाया जा सकेगा और उसका ईलाज भी किया जा सकेगा। डॉ. गायकवाड ने बताया कि इसका उपयोग ड्रग रिफ्रेक्टरी एप्लिप्सी, स्ट्रोक और ब्रेन ट्यूमर जैसे अन्य जटिल समस्याओं में अत्याधुनिक मशीन का उपयोग किया जायेगा। उन्होंने बताया कि विश्व के कुछ देशों में इस नई तकनीक का उपयोगा किया जा रहा है जो मरीज के लिए सुरक्षित है।

महाराष्ट्र के मुख्य निर्वाचन अधिकारी एस. चोकलिंगम ने कहा है कि आगामी लोकसभा चुनाव में धन या शक्ति का कोई दुरुपयोग न हो, यह सुनिश्चित करने के लिए सभी संबंधित विभागों को सतर्क कर दिया गया है। ईएसएमएस मोबाइल ऐप पर चर्चा के लिए आयोजित बैठक में सीईओ ने कहा कि स्वतंत्र और निष्पक्ष चुनाव सुनिश्चित करने के लिए आदर्श आचार संहिता को सख्ती से लागू किया जाएगा। ईएसएमएस मोबाइल ऐप का उपयोग आदर्श आचार संहिता की अवधि के दौरान मोबाइल ऐप के माध्यम से सीधे क्षेत्र से नकदी, शराब, ड्रग्स, कीमती धातु, मुफ्त उपहार और अन्य वस्तुओं जैसी पकड़ी गई/जब्त वस्तुओं के डेटा को डिजिटाइज़ करने के लिए किया जाता है।

बेलारूस के महावाणिज्य दूत ने महाराष्ट्र के राज्यपाल से मुलाकात की
मुंबई में बेलारूस के नवनियुक्त महावाणिज्य दूत अलीकसांद्रा मात्सुको ने कहा है कि बेलारूस भारत के साथ व्यापार, व्यवसाय, पर्यटन और सांस्कृतिक संबंधों को बढ़ावा देने का इच्छुक है। मंगलवार को मुंबई में महाराष्ट्र के राज्यपाल रमेश बैस के साथ एक बैठक के दौरान, महावाणिज्य दूत ने कहा कि उनका देश बेलारूस और महाराष्ट्र के ब्रेस्ट क्षेत्र के बीच सिस्टर सिटी सहयोग के लिए विशेष रूप से उत्सुक है। महावाणिज्य दूत ने राज्यपाल को बताया कि बेलारूस का आंतरिक मंत्रालय मुंबई को यातायात प्रबंधन में विशेषज्ञता प्रदान करने का इच्छुक है। इस बीच मानवीय संबंधों को मजबूत करने के लिए बेलारूस सरकार पुणे के पास एक अनाथालय से 30 बच्चों को भ्रमण के लिए बेलारूस ले जाएगी. ताड़ोबा बाघ अभयारण्य और चंद्रपुर में वनस्पति उद्यान की अपनी हालिया यात्रा का उल्लेख करते हुए, महावाणिज्य दूत ने पर्यावरण संरक्षण में भारत के प्रयासों की सराहना की। महाराष्ट्र में बेलारूस के महावाणिज्य दूत का स्वागत करते हुए, राज्यपाल बैस ने कहा कि उन्हें महाराष्ट्र और बेलारूस के विश्वविद्यालयों के बीच शैक्षणिक सहयोग, विशेष रूप से छात्र-आदान-प्रदान, संकाय आदान-प्रदान और सांस्कृतिक आदान-प्रदान देखकर खुशी होगी।

आरबीआई ने दो बैंकों पर मौद्रिक जुर्माना लगाया
भारतीय रिजर्व बैंक ने विभिन्न नियमों का पालन न करने पर दो बैंकों पर मौद्रिक जुर्माना लगाया है। पहले मामले में, ‘अग्रिमों पर ब्याज दर’ और ‘बड़े क्रेडिट पर सूचना के केंद्रीय भंडार’ से संबंधित कुछ निर्देशों का पालन न करने पर तमिलनाड मर्केंटाइल बैंक लिमिटेड पर एक करोड़, इकतीस लाख और अस्सी हजार रुपये का जुर्माना लगाया गया। मंगलवार को मुंबई से जारी एक प्रेस विज्ञप्ति में, आरबीआई ने कहा कि 31 मार्च, 2022 को अपनी वित्तीय स्थिति के संदर्भ में पर्यवेक्षी मूल्यांकन के लिए बैंक के वैधानिक निरीक्षण से पता चला कि बैंक ने एक ही ऋण श्रेणी के भीतर कई बेंचमार्क अपनाए हैं। यह एमएसएमई को दिए गए कुछ फ्लोटिंग रेट ऋणों पर ब्याज दर को बाहरी बेंचमार्क ऋण दर पर बेंचमार्क करने में भी विफल रहा। बैंक ने सीआरआईएलसी को कुछ उधारकर्ताओं की बाहरी रेटिंग की भी गलत सूचना दी। दूसरे मामले में डीसीबी बैंक लिमिटेड पर 63 लाख साठ हजार का आर्थिक दंड लगाया गया है. 31 मार्च, 2022 तक अपनी वित्तीय स्थिति के संदर्भ में पर्यवेक्षी मूल्यांकन के लिए बैंक के वैधानिक निरीक्षण के अनुसार; आरबीआई ने पाया कि बैंक कुछ एमसीएलआर से जुड़े फ्लोटिंग रेट अग्रिमों में निर्धारित आवधिकता पर ब्याज दरों को रीसेट करने में विफल रहा है। यह कुछ फ्लोटिंग रेट खुदरा ऋणों और एमएसएमई को फ्लोटिंग रेट ऋणों की ब्याज दर को बाहरी बेंचमार्क उधार दर पर बेंचमार्क करने में भी विफल रहा था। आरबीआई ने स्पष्ट किया है कि यह कार्रवाई विनियामक अनुपालन में कमियों पर आधारित है और इसका उद्देश्य बैंक द्वारा अपने ग्राहकों के साथ किए गए किसी भी लेनदेन या समझौते की वैधता को प्रभावित करना नहीं है।

कोलकाता राज्यपाल – विधेयक
राज्यपाल डॉ सीवी आनंद बोस ने मंगलवार को दो विधेयकों को अपनी मंजूरी दे दी है. वे हैं पश्चिम बंगाल राजकोषीय उत्तरदायित्व और बजट प्रबंधन (संशोधन) विधेयक और हावड़ा नगर निगम (संशोधन) विधेयक। हावड़ा नगर निगम विधेयक मंगलवार को ही राज्यपाल के पास भेजा गया था। राज्यपाल के हस्ताक्षर के बाद दोनों विधेयकों को राज्य सचिवालय नबन्ना भेज दिया गया।

आज पुण्यतिथि है खुशवंत सिंह की। वे भारत के प्रसिद्ध पत्रकार, लेखक, उपन्यासकार और इतिहासकार थे। एक पत्रकार के रूप में इन्होंने बहुत लोकप्रियता प्राप्त की। भारत सरकार’ के ‘विदेश मन्त्रालय’ में विदेश सेवा के सम्माननीय पद पर भी खुशवंत सिंह ने कार्य किया है। ‘पद्म भूषण’ (1974) और ‘पद्म विभूषण’ (2007) जैसे अलंकरणों से इन्हें सम्मानित किया जा चुका है। खुशवंत सिंह ने कई अमूल्य रचनाएँ अपने पाठकों को प्रदान की हैं।1951 में वे आकाशवाणी से संबद्ध थे। वे प्रति सप्ताह एक लोकप्रिय ‘कॉलम’ लिखते थे, जो अनेक भाषाओं के दैनिक पत्रों में प्रकाशित होता था। खुशवंत सिंह उपन्यासकार, इतिहासकार और राजनीतिक विश्लेषक के रूप में विख्यात थे। ‘डेल्ही’, ‘ट्रेन टु पाकिस्तान’, ‘दि कंपनी ऑफ़ वूमन’ उनके द्वारा लिखे गए अनेक प्रसिद्ध उपन्यासों में से चन्द हैं। 1980 से 1986 तक वे राज्य सभा के मनोनीत सदस्य रहे।
Khushwant Singh, an Indian author, lawyer, diplomat, journalist and politician was born on February 2, 1915 and died at the age of 99 on this day in (March 20) in 2014. His experience in the 1947 Partition of India inspired him to write ‘Train to Pakistan’ in 1956 which was made into film in 1998. It became his most well-known novel Born in Punjab, Khushwant Singh was educated in Modern School, New Delhi, St. Stephen’s College, and graduated from Government College, Lahore. He studied at King’s College London and was awarded an LL.B. from University of London. He was called to the bar at the London Inner Temple.
After working as a lawyer in Lahore High Court for eight years, he joined the Indian Foreign Service upon the Independence of India from British Empire in 1947. He was appointed journalist in the All India Radio in 1951, and then moved to the Department of Mass Communications of UNESCO at Paris in 1956. Khushwant Singh was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 1974. In 2007, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award in India.

आज पुण्यतिथि है मरांग गोमके जयपाल सिंह मुंडा की भी। वे भारतीय हॉकी के प्रसिद्ध खिलाड़ियों में से एक थे। उन्हें 1928 में एमस्टर्डम में आयोजित ओलम्पिक खेलों में भारतीय हॉकी टीम का कप्तान नियुक्त किया गया था। इस ओलम्पिक में भारत ने जयपाल सिंह के नेतृत्व में देश के लिए स्वर्ण पदक प्राप्त किया था। 1922 में उन्होंने ऑक्सफोर्ड से एमए किया। हॉकी के प्रति समर्पित होने के कारण 22 वर्ष की उम्र में उन्हें विम्बलडन हॉकी क्लब और ऑक्सफोर्ड शायर हॉकी एसोसिएशन का सदस्य बनाया गया. इसके बाद भारतीय छात्रों को मिलाकर उन्होंने हॉकी टीम बनाई. जहां 1923 से 1928 तक बेल्जियम, फ्रांस, स्पेन और जर्मनी के विश्वविद्यालयों को अपनी अद्भुत खेल प्रतिभा का लोहा मनवाया।

Dara Shikoh, also known as Dara Shukoh was born on this day in 1615. He was the eldest son and heir-apparent of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. Dara was designated with the title Padshahzada-i-Buzurg Martaba (“Prince of High Rank”) and was favoured as a successor by his father and his elder sister, Princess Jahanara Begum. He had been given the title of ‘Shah-e-Buland Iqbal’ by Shah Jahan. In the war of succession which ensued after Shah Jahan’s illness in 1657, Dara was defeated by his younger brother Prince Muhiuddin (later, the Emperor Aurangzeb). He was executed in 1659 on Aurangzeb’s orders in a bitter struggle for the imperial throne. Dara was a liberal-minded unorthodox Muslim as opposed to the orthodox Aurangzeb; he authored the work ‘The Confluence of the Two Seas’, which argues for the harmony of Sufi philosophy in Islam and Vedanta philosophy in Hinduism. A great patron of the arts, he was also more inclined towards philosophy and mysticism rather than military pursuits.
दारा शिकोह (अंग्रेज़ी: Dara Shikoh, जन्म: 20 मार्च, 1615; मृत्यु: 30 अगस्त, 1659) मुग़ल बादशाह शाहजहाँ और मुमताज़ महल का सबसे बड़ा पुत्र था। शाहजहाँ अपने इस पुत्र को बहुत अधिक चाहता था और इसे मुग़ल वंश का अगला बादशाह बनते हुए देखना चाहता था। शाहजहाँ भी दारा शिकोह को बहुत प्रिय था। वह अपने पिता को पूरा मान-सम्मान देता था और उसके प्रत्येक आदेश का पालन करता था। आरम्भ में दारा शिकोह पंजाब का सूबेदार बनाया गया, जिसका शासन वह राजधानी से अपने प्रतिनिधियों के ज़रिये चलाता था।

आज ख्यातिप्राप्त भारतीय पार्श्वगायिका अलका याग्निक का जन्मदिन है। उन्होंने अपने तीन दशक पुराने कॅरियर में एक से बढ़कर एक गीत दिये और अपनी काबिलियत का लोहा मनवाया हैं। अलका याग्निक का जन्म 20 मार्च, 1966 को पश्चिम बंगाल के कलकत्ता शहर में हुआ था। उन्होंने मात्र 6 साल की उम्र में पहली बार कलकत्ता आकाशवाणी रेडियो में काम किया था। 10 साल की उम्र तक अलका संगीत में परायण हो चुकी थीं। इसीलिए उनकी माता उन्हें कलकत्ता से मुंबई ले आईं। उन्होंने 14 साल की उम्र में पहली बार फिल्म “पायल की झंकार” के गाने “थिरकत अंग लचक झुकी” में अपनी आवाज दी। जिसके बाद फिल्म ‘लावारिस’ के गाने “मेरे अंगने में” ने उन्हें शोहरत की बुलंदियों तक पहुँचा दिया।साल 1988 में आयी फ़िल्म ‘तेजाब’ के गीत ‘एक दो तीन’ के लिए उन्हें पहली बार फिल्मफेयर का अवार्ड मिला। इसके अलावा उन्होंने अपने तीन दशक पुराने करियर में हिंदी के अलावा उर्दू, गुजराती, अवधी, भोजपुरी, तमिल, तेलुगू और मलयालम भाषा में गाने गाए हैं। अल्का याज्ञनिक को नेशनल अवार्ड सहित अनेक पुरस्कारों से सम्मानित किया जा चुका है।
Alka Yagnik:: an Indian playback singer who works predominantly in Hindi cinema was born on this day in 1966 . One of the most prominent singers of 90s era Bollywood, she has received several accolades, including two National Film Awards, two Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Awards and a record seven Filmfare Awards for Best Female Playback Singer from a record of thirty-six nominations. Yagnik is one of the most prolific female playback singers and artists, and has sung a large number of female solos in her Bollywood career. In her career spanning over four decades she has sung songs for more than thousand films and recorded over twenty-one thousand songs in over 25 different languages.

In addition to Hindi, she has sung in more than twenty-five languages, including Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Malayalam, Marathi, Manipuri, Odia, Punjabi, Bhojpuri, Tamil and Telugu, besides singing 15 Pakistani songs. She has also performed in live concerts around the world. In an interview with Mid-Day, Yagnik told that she records five songs daily during her time.
Yagnik shares the title for the greatest number of Filmfare Awards with Asha Bhosle (seven) by a female playback singer. She has sung 2,486 Hindi songs in 1,114 films. She is the fifth most prolific Bollywood singer of all time after Asha Bhosle, Mohammed Rafi, Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar.
She is the third topmost female playback singer after Lata Mangeshkar and Asha Bhonsle who has sung the maximum number of female solos in her Bollywood career.
