The Indian Air Force (IAF) is the air arm of the Indian Armed Forces. Its primary mission is to secure Indian airspace and to conduct aerial warfare during armed conflicts. It was officially established on 8 October 1932 as an auxiliary air force of the British Empire which honoured India's aviation service during World War II with the prefix Royal.[11] After India gained independence from United Kingdom in 1947, the name Royal Indian Air Force was kept and served in the name of the Dominion of India. With the transition to a republic in 1950, the prefix Royal was removed.
Since 1950, the IAF has been involved in four wars with neighbouring Pakistan. Other major operations undertaken by the IAF include Operation Vijay, Operation Meghdoot, Operation Cactus and Operation Poomalai. The IAF's mission expands beyond engagement with hostile forces, with the IAF participating in United Nations peacekeeping missions.
The President of India holds the rank of Supreme Commander of the IAF. The Chief of the Air Staff, an air chief marshal, is a four-star officer and is responsible for the bulk of operational command of the Air Force.
The Indian Air Force was established on 8 October 1932 in British India as an auxiliary air force of the Royal Air Force. The enactment of the Indian Air Force Act 1932 stipulated out their auxiliary status and enforced the adoption of the Royal Air Force uniforms, badges, brevets and insignia. On 1 April 1933, the IAF commissioned its first squadron, No.1 Squadron, with four Westland Wapiti biplanes and five Indian pilots. The Indian pilots were led by British RAF Commanding officer Flight Lieutenant (later Air Vice Marshal) Cecil Bouchier.

वायु सेना आज अपना 91वां स्थापना दिवस मना रही है। इस अवसर पर उत्तरप्रदेश में प्रयागराज में बमरौली वायुसेना केंद्र में शानदार परेड का आयोजन किया जाएगा और आयुध डिपो के पास संगम इलाक़े में हवाई करतब दिखाए जाएंगे। इस मौक़े पर उत्तरप्रदेश की राज्यपाल आनंदीबेन पटेल मुख्य अतिथि होंगी। राज्य के उद्योग विकास मंत्री नंद गोपाल गुप्ता ने बताया कि कार्यक्रम में वायुसेना प्रमुख एयरचीफ मार्शल वी.आर. चौधरी, थल सेना प्रमुख जनरल अनिल चौहान और मध्य हवाई कमान के जनरल ऑफिसर इन कमांडिंग, एयर मार्शल आर.जी. के. कपूर भी उपस्थित रहेंगे।
वायुसेना आज अपना नया प्रतीक-चिह्न जारी करेगी। बमरौली में रस्मी परेड में स्काई पैरा जंपर्स अपने करतब दिखाएंगे। पहली बार, महिला अग्निवीरों के बटालियन को भी परेड में शामिल किया गया है। हवाई प्रदर्शन में लड़ाकू जेट रफाएल भी शामिल होगा। पहली बार, 5 हेलीकॉप्टरों की टीम– सारंग भी इस प्रदर्शन में शामिल हो रहे हैं। इसके अलावा, स्काई गंगा डिस्प्ले टीम भी एक्शन में होगी।
कार्यक्रम में, मिग-21 को औपचारिक विदाई दी जाएगी और परिवहन विमान सी-295 को वायुसेना में शामिल किया जाएगा।
प्रयागराज ज़िला प्रशासन ने कहा है कि हवाई करतब संगम, अरैल घाट, झूंसी, शास्त्री ब्रिज और आसपास के इलाक़ों से आसानी से देखे जा सकेंगे। अनुमान है कि हवाई करतब को पांच लाख से अधिक लोग देखेंगे।

Assam government will distribute 4 lakh rupees each to 1 thousand 182 former Adivasi militants in Guwahati this evening. All these former militants belong to five groups namely Adivasi Cobra Military of Assam, All Adivasi National Liberation Army, Birsa Commando Force, Adivasi People's Army and Santhal Tiger Force. All of them laid down arms in July this year. Out of the total surrendered militants, maximum 453 cadres belong to Adivasi Cobra Military of Assam. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will hand over the cheque of 4 lakh rupees to them today. Chief Secretary of Assam, DGP , Additional DGP Hiren Chandra Nath among others will attend the event. Our Correspondent reports that all the five groups signed tripartite peace accord with the Centre and the Assam government last year.

केन्द्रीय गृहमंत्री अमित शाह ने कहा है कि देश से आतंकवाद को समूल नष्ट करने का समय आ गया है। उन्होंने कहा कि आतंकवाद से निपटने के लिए कतई बर्दाश्त नहीं की नीति के साथ आगे बढना होगा। गृहमंत्री मंत्री ने कल देहरादून में 49वीं अखिल भारतीय पुलिस विज्ञान कांग्रेस को संबोधित किया। उन्होंने कहा कि पिछले नौ वर्षों में केन्द्र सरकार ने जम्मू-कश्मीर, वामपंथी उग्रवाद वाले क्षेत्रों तथा पूर्वोत्तर में कानून व्यवस्था बेहतर बनाने का काम किया है। श्री शाह ने कहा कि वामपंथी हिंसा में कमी आने से विकास को गति मिली है।
इससे पहले गृहमंत्री ने उत्तराखंड के टिहरी जिले के नरेन्द्र नगर में केन्द्रीय क्षेत्रिय परिषद की 24वीं बैठक की अध्यक्षता की।

Sikkim State Disaster Management Authority (SSDMA) confirmed the death toll from flash floods in Sikkim which rose to 30 including including 09 Indian army personnel with 81 missing after the glacial-fed Lhonak Lake in north Sikkim triggered a flash flood in Teesta river basin on the 4th of October.
A total of 1320 houses were severely damaged. Till date, 2563 people were rescued. Around 7,025 persons have taken shelter in 30 relief camps. Due to flash floods in the Teesta River basin, 13 bridges washed away.

केंद्रीय वित्तमंत्री निर्मला सीतारामन की अध्यक्षता में कल नई दिल्ली में वस्तु और सेवाकर-जीएसटी परिषद की 52वीं बैठक हुई। बैठक में केंद्रीय वित्त राज्य मंत्री पंकज चौधरी के साथ राज्यों और केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों के वित्त मंत्रियों ने भी भाग लिया।
वित्तमंत्री ने बताया कि बैठक में जीएसटी अपीलीय ट्राइब्यूनल के अलावा बाजरा तथा शीरे पर जीएसटी की दरों के बारे में कई महत्वपूर्ण निर्णय लिए गए।
जीएसटी अपीलीय ट्राइब्यूनल के संबंध में किए गए बदलावों के बारे में उन्होंने कहा कि ट्राइब्यूनल के अध्यक्ष की अधिकतम आयु सीमा अब 67 वर्ष की जगह 70 होगी। सदस्यों के लिए यह आयुसीमा 65 वर्ष से बढाकर 67 वर्ष कर दी गई है। अध्यक्ष पद के लिए न्यूनतम आयु सीमा 50 वर्ष रखी गई है। ट्राइब्यूनल में न्यायिक सदस्य के रूप में नियुक्त किये जाने वाले अधिवक्ताओं के लिए 10 वर्ष का न्यूनतम अनुभव अनिवार्य बनाया गया है।

In a major turn of events in the Middle East yesterday, Palestinian militant group Hamas launched a surprise large-scale attack by firing a barrage of rockets into southern and central Israel killing at least 150 people and injuring 1100 others.
In the first reaction to the attacks, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel is 'at war', further asserting that they will 'win it'. Israeli President Isaac Herzog also strongly attacked Hamas calling it a terrorist army and also accused Iran of supporting the terror attacks. In response to the deadly attacks, the Israel Defense Forces launched "Operation Swords of Iron" with Israeli air force launching airstrikes hitting 17 military compounds and four operational command centers belonging to Hamas in the Gaza Strip killing more than 230 people.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed solidarity with Israel and said that India's thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. In a social media post PM Modi said, he is deeply shocked by the news of terrorist attacks in Israel. His thoughts and prayers are with the innocent victims and their families. At the Hanghzou Asian Games in China, Indian contingent finished its campaign by living up to the commitment of “Iss baar 100 paar" with a record haul of 107 medals comprises of 28 gold, 38 silver, 41 bronze. This outstanding feat surpassed India's previous best of 70 medals at the Jakarta Asian Games in 2018.
This is also only the second time India has won more than 100 medals in any of the three major Games – The Olympics, Commonwealth Games, and Asian Games. They had won 101 medals in the 2010 Commonwealth Games in New Delhi
Yesterday, On the last day of India's medal action, Indian players won a total of 12 medals, with half of them being gold in sports events like kabaddi, badminton, hockey and archery.

The State selection committee has withheld the round three results of post graduate medical courses in Tamilnadu after the Madras High Court directed the Committee not to declare the results of MD General Medicine. On hearing the petitions on october 5, Justice Anitha Sumanth said results would not be declared in MD alone until further orders of the Court. She added that there was no restriction placed regarding the declaration of results for other courses.

The National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences in Bengaluru hosted Harsha @ Sakalwara in its South Campus in Sakalwara yesterday. A Symposium was organised on Residential rehabilitation methods. Topics such as merits of hospital treatment versus Community based Residential Rehabilitation facilities, the role of multidisciplinary mental health teams, and innovative strategies for involving the public in rehabilitation efforts were discussed in the symposium. The individuals coping with mental health challenges, dedicated caregivers, students, non governmental organisations and mental health professionals participated in the discussion. It aimed at reducing the stigma associated with mental health issues and encouraged open discussions within the community. On the sidelines of the symposium, as many as 20 stalls exhibited millets, vegetables, arts and crafts and food articles.

दिल्ली के पर्यावरण मंत्री गोपाल राय ने बताया कि दिल्ली में वायु प्रदूषण में सुधार लाने के लिए विंटर एक्शन प्लान के तहत सरकार ने अगले एक महीने के लिए राजधानी में एंटी डस्ट अभियान शुरू कर दिया है। उन्होंने बताया कि पहले चरण में अगले महीने की 7 तारीख तक एंटी डस्ट अभियान चलाया जाएगा।
गोपाल राय ने कहा कि राजधानी में धूल प्रदूषण को रोकने के लिए 82 मैकेनिकल रोड स्वीपिंग मशीनें ,530 वॉटर स्प्रिंकलर और 258 मोबाइल एंटी-स्मॉग गन की तैनात की गयी है।

दिल्ली पुलिस ने राष्ट्रीय राजधानी के सरिता विहार इलाके से आतंकी सरगना अर्श डल्ला-सुक्खा दुनेका गिरोह के एक सदस्य हरजीत सिंह उर्फ हैरी मौड को गिरफ्तार किया है। हरजीत सिंह की हत्या के चार मामलों में तलाश थी। इसी गिरोह के एक अन्य सदस्य हैरी राजपुरा को एक महीने पहले गिरफ्तार किया गया था।

मौसम विभाग ने मुंबई से मानसून के लौट जाने की पुष्टि की है। पिछले तीन दिनों में मुंबई और इसके आसपास के इलाकों में बारिश नहीं हुई है। मौसम विभाग के अनुसार, पुणे और नागपुर सहित महाराष्ट्र के 45 प्रतिशत इलाकों से मानसून की वापसी हो गई है। इस वर्ष मानसून ने राज्य में देर से दस्तक दी जिससे जलभंडार कम होने लगा था। जुलाई में बारिश बढने से शहर को जल आपूर्ति करने वाली 7 झीलों में पानी का स्तर बढा। अगस्त और सितम्बर में अच्छी बारिश होने से अब शहर में पानी की पर्याप्त उपलब्धता है।

Today is death anniversary of Dhanpat Rai Srivastava better known as Munshi Premchand based on his pen name Premchand was an Indian writer famous for his modern Hindustani literature. Premchand was a pioneer of Hindi and Urdu social fiction. He was one of the first authors to write about caste hierarchies and the plights of women and laborers prevalent in the society of late 1880s. He is one of the most celebrated writers of the Indian subcontinent, and is regarded as one of the foremost Hindi writers of the early twentieth century.His works include Godaan, Karmabhoomi, Gaban, Mansarovar, Idgah. He published his first collection of five short stories in 1907 in a book called Soz-e-Watan (Voice of the Nation).
He began writing under the pen name "Nawab Rai", but subsequently switched to "Premchand". A novel writer, story writer and dramatist, he has been referred to as the "Upanyas Samrat" (Emperor Among Novelists) by Hindi writers. His works include more than a dozen novels, around 300 short stories, several essays and translations of a number of foreign literary works into Hindi.
मुंशी प्रेमचंद जी की सभी रचनाये प्रमुख थी . किसी को भी अलग से, संबोधित नही किया जा सकता . और उन्होंने हर तरह की अनेको रचनाये लिखी थी जो, हम बचपन से हिन्दी मे पढ़ते आ रहे है ठीक ऐसे ही, उनके कई उपन्यास नाटक कविताएँ कहानियाँ और लेख हिन्दी साहित्य मे दिये गये है . जैसे- गोदान,गबन,कफ़न आदि अनगिनत रचनाये लिखी है.प्रेमचंद को हिंदी और उर्दू के महानतम लेखकों में शुमार किया जाता है। प्रेमचंद की रचनाओं को देखकर बंगाल के विख्यात उपन्यासकार शरतचंद्र चट्टोपाध्याय ने उन्हें 'उपन्यास सम्राट' की उपाधि दी थी। प्रेमचंद ने कहानी और उपन्यास में एक नई परंपरा की शुरुआत की जिसने आने वाली पीढ़ियों के साहित्यकारों का मार्गदर्शन किया। प्रेमचंद ने साहित्य में यथार्थवाद की नींव रखी। प्रेमचंद की रचनाएं हिंदी साहित्य की धरोहर हैं। प्रेमचंद की हर रचना बहुमूल्य है जो अपने समय की सच्चाई को बयां करती हैं और उनकी ख़ासियत है कि वे आज भी प्रासंगिक हैं। प्रेमचंद की कहानी ईदगाह आपने भी शायद ज़रूर पढ़ी होगी।

आज ही जयंती है केदार नाथ साहू की भारत के प्रसिद्ध लोक नृत्य कलाकार थे। वह सरायकेला शैली में छऊ नृत्य के कलाकार थे। सरायकेला छऊ के अग्रणी नर्तक केदारनाथ साहू को 2005 में पद्म श्री सम्मान मिला था। छऊ के लिए पद्म सम्मान पाने वाले वह दूसरे शख्स थे। केदार नाथ साहू ने सरायकेला स्थित राजकीय छऊ नृत्य कला केंद्र में 1974 से 1988 तक प्रशिक्षण दिया।अपने कॅरियर के शुरुआत में बिजय प्रताप सिंहदेव के साथ नेतृत्व में भारत के अलावा पूर्वी यूरोप, दक्षिणी अमेरिका व दक्षिण पूर्व एशिया में छऊ का नृत्य प्रदर्शन किया। केदार नाथ साहू के शिष्यों में यूके निवासी शेरोन लोवेन, गोपाल प्रसाद दुबे व शशधर आचार्य भी शामिल थे। सन 1981 में केदार नाथ साहू को संगीत नाटक अकादमी पुरस्कार भी मिला था।

आज मां भारती के वीर सपूत लोकनायक जय प्रकाश नारायण की कि 8 पुण्यतिथि है। जय प्रकाश नारायण ने संपूर्ण क्रांति का नारा दिया था, जिसने पूरे देश को झकझोर कर रख दिया। जय प्रकाश के संपूर्ण क्रांति के नारे पर पूरा देश उमड़ पड़ा था और उन्हें समाजसेवा के लिए लोकनायक की उपाधि दी गई। लोकनायक जय प्रकाश नारायण का जन्म बिहार के सारण जिला के सिताब दियारा में हुआ था। उन्होंने 1919 में ब्रिटिश सरकार के रालेट एक्ट के खिलाफ असहयोग आंदोलन से प्रेरित होकर कालेज छोड़ दिया। जय प्रकाश नारायण महात्मा गांधी के साथ कई आंदोलन में शामिल रहे। जय प्रकाश नारायण ने बिहार की राजधानी पटना के गांधी मैदान में 5 जून 1974 को संपूर्ण क्रांति का आह्वान किया। उन्होंने कहा था, 'सम्पूर्ण क्रांति से मेरा तात्पर्य समाज के सबसे अधिक दबे-कुचले व्यक्ति को सत्ता के शिखर पर देखना है।' उस दौरान, गांधी मैदान में 'जात-पात तोड़ दो, तिलक-दहेज छोड़ दो, समाज के प्रवाह को नई दिशा में मोड़ दो' नारा गूंजा था। इसी नारे से जय प्रकाश नारायण को विश्व में पहचान मिला। इसके बाद 1979 में आज ही के दिन (8 अक्टूबर) उनका निधन हो गया। बाद में 1999 में उन्हें मरणोपरांत भारत रत्न से सम्मानित किया गया। इसके अलावा उन्हें समाजसेवा के लिए 1965 में मैगससे पुरस्कार प्रदान किया गया था।
