लोकसभा चुनाव के पांचवें चरण में छह राज्यों और दो केंद्रशासित प्रदेशों के 49 निर्वाचन क्षेत्रों में मतदान शुरु हो गया है। ओडिसा की 35 विधानसभा सीटों के लिए भी वोट डाले जा रहे हैं। मतदान शाम छह बजे तक चलेगा। इस चरण में उत्तर प्रदेश की 14, महाराष्ट्र कि 13, पश्चिम बंगाल की सात, ओडिसा तथा बिहार की पांच-पांच, झारखंड की तीन, जम्मू-कश्मीर और लद्दाख की एक- एक सीट पर मतदान होगा।

इस चरण में प्रमुख उम्मीदवारों में भाजपा नेता और केंद्रीय मंत्री राजनाथ सिंह, पीयूष गोयल, स्मृति ईरानी, कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी, नेशनल कांफ्रेस के उमर अबदुल्ला और लोक जनशक्ति पार्टी के चिराग पासवान शामिल हैं।

Campaigning for the remaining two phases of parliamentary elections are in full swing. While the sixth phase of polling will be held on 25th of this month, the seventh and the final phase of polling will take place on the 1st of June.

Prime Minister and Senior BJP leader, Narendra Modi will be on a two-day visit to Bihar starting today. The Prime Minister will arrive in Patna this evening, where he will attend two separate programs. After his arrival in the capital city, he is scheduled to visit the residence of the late senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi at Rajendra Nagar in Patna to pay tribute to the departed soul. Sources said Mr. Modi is also scheduled to visit the BJP state headquarters in Patna and hold a meeting with party functionaries.

Yesterday, Mr. Modi addressed several rallies in Jharkhand and West Bengal . Speaking at public meetings in Purulia, Bishnupur and Medinipur constituencies of West Bengal, he said, the TMC welcomes infiltrators but it strongly opposes the Hindu minorities, who have come to India after being persecuted. He said, the process of granting citizenship under CAA has started and the Congress, Trinamool Congress and Left parties could do nothing to stop it.

On the other hand, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and SP President Akhilesh Yadav attended a joint public meeting in Allahabad constituency.

In Bihar, JD(U) president and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar addressed election rallies in Vaishali, Gopalganj and Siwan parliamentary constituencies. He enumerated developmental works done under the JD(U)-BJP led NDA government in the past 17 years.

राजधानी दिल्‍ली में 25 मई को होने वाले मतदान के लिए दिल्‍ली मुख्‍य निर्वाचन अधिकारी कार्यालय मतदाता जागरूकता के लिए कई कार्यक्रम आयोजित कर रहा है। इसी क्रम में कल पश्चिमी दिल्ली लोकसभा क्षेत्र के अंतर्गत स्पोर्ट कॉम्पलेक्स शिवाजी कॉलेज राजा गार्डन में एक शाम मतदान के नाम कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया गया। अपने वक्‍तव्‍य में मुख्‍य निर्वाचन अधिकारी पी. कृष्णमूर्ति ने कहा कि भारत में बड़ी संख्या में युवा मतदाताओं का होना और लोकतांत्रिक प्रक्रिया पर उनका प्रभाव बेहद महत्वपूर्ण है। उन्‍होंने कहा कि एक प्रमुख जनसंख्या समूह के रूप में, युवा मतदाता न सिर्फ चुनाव परिणामों को प्रभावित करते हैं बल्कि देश की नीति और राजनीति को नया आकार देते हैं। साथ ही देश के भविष्य का प्रतिनिधित्व करते हैं। श्री कृष्णमूर्ती ने युवाओं की भागदारी पर जोर देते हुए कहा कि विशेष रूप से पहली बार मतदान करने जा रहे मतदाताओं के पास मतदान से अपने विचारों को परिलक्षित करने का एक सुनहरा मौका है।

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that his government’s biggest focus has been on governance. In an interview with a TV channel, Mr. Modi said that the government has modernized railways and created infrastructure. He also emphasised on the mantra of ‘Pro people, good governance. The Prime Minister said India is on a take-off stage in Industrial revolution. He also stressed that decentralised industrialisation network is important to make agriculture viable. Mr. Modi said, when scope, scale, speed and skill meet, the country can achieve a lot.

On a query on Centre-State relations, Mr. Modi said he believes in competitive and cooperative federalism. He said that India will lead the world in Artificial Intelligence. The Prime Minister said that Digital Public Infrastructure in the country is evolutionary and citizen-centric. Mr. Modi said there is great trust of people in this government. He claimed that for this reason BJP will get a historic mandate and will set a record of 400 seats.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for severe heatwave conditions over the plains of Northwest, East, and Central India for the next four days. The IMD stated that severe heatwave conditions are very likely over Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar.

Yesterday, severe heatwave conditions were observed in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Punjab, Haryana-Chandigarh-Delhi, Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, and Tamil Nadu. Najafgarh in Delhi recorded the highest temperature in the country at 47.8 degrees Celsius.

The weather agency also stated that the southwest Monsoon has advanced into some parts of the Maldives and the Comorin area, the South Bay of Bengal, the Nicobar Islands, and the South Andaman Sea.

आईपीएल क्रिकेट में कल राजस्‍थान रॉयल्‍स और कोलकाता नाइटराइडर्स के बीच टॉस होने के बाद बारिश के कारण रद्द हो गया।

इससे पहले, हैदराबाद में आईपीएल क्रिकेट में कल सनराइजर्स हैदराबाद ने पंजाब किंग्‍स को चार विकेट से हरा दिया है। पंजाब किंग्‍स ने पहले बल्‍लेबाजी करते हुए पांच विकेट पर दो सौ 14 रन बनाए थे। हैदराबाद ने पांच गेंद शेष रहते छह विकेट पर दो सौ 15 रन बनाकर जीत हासिल की।

CHENNAI METRO

The department of welfare of non resident Tamils, which established non resident Tamils welfare Board and invited non resident Tamil people aged between 18 and 55 years living abroad or in other states of India to register themselves as members on the website https://nrtamils.tn.gov.in has waived off the registration fee of Rs. 200/- for an initial period of three months from May 15 to August 15 this year. The board was formed to safeguard the welfare of individuals affected in response to the recent growth in migration from Tamil Nadu to foreign nations and other Indian states for reasons such as work, education, and business, among others.

The Southern Suburbs will now have private bulk waste handlers to collect and process segregated waste from gated communities, commercial complexes, schools and other institutions that generate more than 100 kg of waste daily. Tambaram Corporation empanelled three firms to start collecting segregated waste from its 414 bulk waste generators. Dr.Arul Anand, city health officer of Tambaram said that the bulk waste handlers will process the waste in their own facilities compost, generate bio -CNG from wet waste and send plastic and other dry waste for recycling.

दिल्‍ली-समाचार

चुनाव में भागीदारी को बढ़ावा देने के उद्देश्य से की गई दिल्ली के मुख्य निर्वाचन कार्यालय की “संकल्प पत्र पहल” ने दिल्ली नगर निगम – एमसीडी और नई दिल्ली नगरपालिका परिषद -एनडीएमसी सहित दिल्ली के सरकारी स्कूलों में उल्लेखनीय सफलता हासिल की है। अब तक लगभग 16 लाख संकल्प पत्र माता-पिता के हस्ताक्षर के साथ वापस प्राप्त हो चुके हैं, जो आगामी चुनावों में भाग लेने की उनकी प्रतिबद्धता को दर्शाते हैं। दिल्ली के मुख्य निर्वाचन अधिकारी पी. कृष्णमूर्ति ने इन सभी अभिभावकों से 25 मई को मतदान प्रक्रिया में सक्रिय रूप से भाग लेने का आग्रह किया है l उन्होंने कहा कि लोकतंत्र के इस महोत्सव में हर एक वोट क़ीमती है इसलिये अपने मताधिकार का अवश्‍य प्रयोग करें। लगभग 16 लाख हस्ताक्षरित संकल्प पत्र वापस आने से इस पहल की प्रभावशीलता का पता चलता है।

दिल्ली नगर निगम ने मतदाता जागरूकता को बढ़ावा देने और इस महीने की 25 तारीख को होने वाले लोकसभा चुनावों में भागीदारी बढ़ाने के लिए पांच किलोमीटर मैराथन, ‘रन फॉर डेमोक्रेसी’ का आयोजन किया। नगर निगम के नजफगढ़ क्षेत्र द्वारा आयोजित यह कार्यक्रम द्वारका स्थित वेगस मॉल से शुरू हुआ जिसमें स्थानीय निवासियों की उत्साहपूर्ण भागीदारी देखी गई। कार्यक्रम में न केवल मतदान के महत्व पर प्रकाश डाला गया बल्कि प्रतिभागियों के बीच स्वास्थ्य और फिटनेस की भावना को भी बढ़ावा दिया गया।

नगर निगम ने कहा कि सभी 12 क्षेत्रों ने मतदाताओं की भागीदारी बढ़ाने के लिए हरसंभव प्रयास किया गया हैं। निगम के अनुरोध पर विभिन्न बाजार संघों, गेस्ट हाउस एसोसिएशन, मॉल और भोजनालयों आदि द्वारा उन मतदाताओं को लोकतंत्र छूट की पेशकश की जा रही है जो अपनी उंगली पर स्याही का निशान दिखाएंगे।

नजफगढ़ क्षेत्र के उपायुक्त बादल कुमार ने बताया कि नजफगढ़ क्षेत्र में आने वाले पांच विधानसभा क्षेत्रों में से द्वारका और मटियाला विधानसभा क्षेत्रों में मतदान में पिछले लोकसभा चुनाव में गिरावट देखी गई थी, इसलिए इस कार्यक्रम के आयोजन के लिए द्वारका को चुना गया।

BENGALURU METRO

A special court for elected representatives has issued an arrest warrant against absconding JD(S) MP Prajwal Revanna, who is accused of rape and sexual harassment. The warrant was issued following an application moved by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) set up to probe serial sex abuse cases in Hassan district, allegedly involving Prajwal and his father, H.D. Revanna, who is currently out on conditional bail in the Holenarasipura kidnapping case.

The SIT obtained the arrest warrant from the court and has been actively seeking information regarding the notices issued against Prajwal Revanna. The court requested detailed information from the SIT about the lookout and blue corner notices previously issued.

The SIT later provided comprehensive information to the court, which subsequently led to the issuance of the arrest warrant. The SIT is now preparing to issue a red corner notice through CBI, a move expected to lead to the eventual cancellation of Prajwal’s passport.

मुंबई-समाचार

जिला निर्वाचन कार्यालय ने गर्मी को देखते हुए आज होने वाले चुनाव में मतदाताओं से जल्दी आने का आग्रह किया है। वर्तमान गर्मी के मौसम को ध्यान में रखते हुए, जिला निर्वाचन कार्यालय (डीईओ) ने मतदाताओं से मतदान के अधिकार का प्रयोग करने के लिए सुबह जल्दी बाहर आने का आग्रह किया। एक बयान में कहा गया है कि मुंबई उपनगरीय जिले के चार लोकसभा क्षेत्रों के सभी मतदान केन्‍द्रों पर मत डाले जा रहे हैं। गर्मी को ध्‍यान में रखते हुए सभी मतदान केन्द्रों पर पेयजल एवं छाया की व्यवस्था की गई है। मतदान केंद्रों पर मतदाताओं को अपना नाम ढूंढने में सहायता के लिए स्वयंसेवकों को भी नियुक्त किया गया है जिसकी वजह से लोगों को मतदान करने में आसानी हो रही है।

मुंबई जिला निर्वाचन कार्यालय ने चुनावी प्रक्रिया में महिला मतदाताओं की भागीदारी को प्रोत्साहित करने के लिए जिले के दो लोकसभा क्षेत्रों के सभी 10 विधानसभा क्षेत्रों में महिला संचालित मतदान केंद्र ‘सखी मतदान केंद्र’ स्थापित किए हैं। मुंबई शहर में, दो लोकसभा क्षेत्रों मुंबई दक्षिण मध्य और मुंबई दक्षिण में कुल 11 सखी मतदान केंद्र हैं। इन 11 सखी मतदान केंद्रों में से 6 मुंबई दक्षिण मध्य निर्वाचन क्षेत्र में और 5 मुंबई दक्षिण निर्वाचन क्षेत्र में हैं। प्रत्येक विधानसभा क्षेत्र में एक सखी मतदान केंद्र है, धारावी निर्वाचन क्षेत्र में दो सखी मतदान केंद्र हैं।

HYDERABAD METRO

The Telangana state Cabinet is likely to meet at 3 pm today under the chairmanship of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy in Hyderabad. This was decided hours after the Election Commission of India (ECI) gave its nod yesterday on the condition that it takes decisions only on issues of an urgent nature. The ECI had earlier denied permission for holding a cabinet meeting as the model code of conduct for the May 13 Lok Sabha elections and the May 27 Legislative Council bye-poll will only end on June 5. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had said on Saturday that he will lead a delegation of ministers to Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar to seek his permission for discussing crucial issues that were on the agenda. It was expected to take a call on the buildings allotted to Andhra Pradesh besides other pending inter-state issues.

कोलकाता में गर्म और उमस भरा मौसम है हालांकि कल शाम को कुछ इलाकों से बारिश की खबरें आईं लेकिन कुल मिलाकर उमस काफी ज्‍यादा है और इससे कोई राहत नहीं मिली है। मौसम कार्यालय की ओर से 20 मई से पश्चिम बंगाल के सभी जिलों में बारिश का पूर्वानुमान लगाया गया है। कोलकाता में भी आज बारिश की संभावना है।

दिल्‍ली और आसपास के क्षेत्रों में इस समय भीषण गर्मी का प्रकोप जारी है और कल दिल्‍ली के नजफगढ़ में अधिकतम तापमान 47.8 डिग्री सेल्‍सि‍यस दर्ज किया गया। इसके साथ ही राजधनी में मौसम विभाग ने अगले दो दिनों के लिए भी राजधानी में लू और गर्मी का रेड अलर्ट जारी किया है। आज का अधिकतम तापमान 44 डिग्री सेल्सियस और न्यूनतम तापमान 28 डिग्री सेल्सियस के आस-पास रहने का अनुमान है।

मुम्बई में भी आसमान साफ रहेगा। न्यूनतम तापमान 28 और अधिकतम तापमान 35 डिग्री सेल्सियस के बीच रहने का अनुमान है।

कोलकाता में तेज़ हवाओं के साथ बारिश हो सकती है। न्यूनतम तापमान 25 और अधिकतम तापमान 38 डिग्री सेल्सियस के आसपास रह सकता है।

1974- Oil production started from Bombay High. Bombay High is known for its Petroleum deposits. It is controlled by India’s Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). It was discovered by an Indian oil exploration team in 1965. Oil production started in 1974.

2011- झारखंड की पर्वतारोही प्रेमलता अग्रवाल ने दुनिया के सबसे ऊंचे पर्वत शिखर माउंट एवरेस्ट पर चढ़ने वाली सबसे उम्रदराज़ भारतीय महिला होने का गौरव हासिल करते हुए पर्वतारोहण के क्षेत्र में एक नया इतिहास रचा।

बिपिन चंद्र पाल (अंग्रेज़ी: Bipin Chandra Pal, जन्म: 7 नवंबर, 1858; मृत्यु: 20 मई, 1932)

आज ही के दिन इस दुनिया को अलविदा कहा देश के स्वाधीनता संग्राम मे महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाने वाले स्वतंत्रता सेनानी बिपिन चंद्र पाल ने । बिपिन चंद्र पाल ‘लाल’ ‘बाल’ ‘पाल’ तिकड़ी का हिस्सा थे जिसमे लाला लाजपत राय, बाल गंगाधर तिलक और विपिन चन्द्र पाल (लाल बाल पाल) शामिल थे, जिन्होंने 1905 में बंगाल विभाजन के विरोध में ज़बर्दस्त आंदोलन चलाया था। बिपिन चंद्र पाल शिक्षक और पत्रकार होने के साथ-साथ एक कुशल वक्ता और लेखक भी थे। ‘वंदे मातरम्’ पत्रिका के संस्थापक रहे पाल एक बड़े समाज सुधारक भी थे। बाल गंगाधर तिलक की गिरफ़्तारी और 1907में ब्रितानिया हुकूमत द्वारा चलाए गए दमन के समय पाल इंग्लैंण्ड गए। वह वहाँ क्रान्तिकारी विधार धारा वाले ‘इंडिया हाउस’ से जुड़ गए और ‘स्वराज पत्रिका’ की शुरुआत की और स्वतंत्रता आन्दोलन मे बढ़ चढ़कर हिस्सा लिया विपिनचन्द्र पाल 1922 में राजनीतिक जीवन से अलग हो गए और 20 मई, 1932 में अपने निधन तक राजनीति से अलग ही रहे।

Today, we are remembering great Maratha ruler, Malhar Rao Holkar, on his death anniversary. He was one of the early officers along with Ranoji Scindia to help spread the Maratha rule to northern states and was given the estate of Indore to rule by the Peshwas, during the reign of the Maratha emperor Shahu I. He was founder of the Holkar dynasty that ruled Malwa.

He participated in the Third Battle of Panipat. He, along with Raja Surajmal is said to have advised Sadashivrao Bhau, Peshwa’s cousin and the de facto commander of the Maratha army to leave all their heavy luggage, civilians and heavy static French-made cannons in any of the Maratha forts behind the Chambal river and perform the traditional Maratha guerrilla warfare against the Afghans until they retreat from India.

आज ही जयंति है सुमित्रानंदन पंत की जो हिन्दी साहित्य में छायावादी युग के चार स्तंभों में से एक हैं। सुमित्रानंदन पंत का जन्म 20 मई 1900 में कौसानी, उत्तराखण्ड,में हुआ था। सुमित्रानंदन पंत ऐसे साहित्यकारों में गिने जाते हैं, जिनका प्रकृति चित्रण बेहतरीन था। पंत जी की कविताओं में प्रकृति और कला के सौंदर्य को प्रमुखता से जगह मिली है।सुमित्रानंदन पंत की कुछ प्रमुख कृतियाँ में चिदम्बरा, वीणा, पल्‍लव, गुंजन, ग्राम्‍या, युगांत, युगवाणी, लोकायतन, कला और बूढ़ा चांद बहुत प्रसिद्ध हुयी। सुमित्रानन्दन पंत को वर्ष 1960 में उनकी रचना ,कला और बूढ़ा चाँद,को ‘साहित्य अकादमी पुरस्कार’ द्वारा सम्मानित किया गया था।

चिदंबरा’ को सुमित्रानन्दन पंत की श्रेष्ठ कविता संग्रहों में ‘गिना जाता है। ‘चिदंबरा’ के लिए पंतजी को वर्ष 1961 में साहित्य के सर्वोच्च सम्मान ‘ज्ञानपीठ पुरस्कार’ से सम्मानित किया गया था।

Today is the birth anniversary of cinematographer, director, screenwriter and film editor, Balu Mahendra, who worked predominantly in Tamil and Malayalam films. Born in Sri Lanka, Mahendran developed a passion for photography and literature at a young age, following which, he pursued it professionally after his graduation. He joined as an Aerial photographer in the Sri Lankan Government. In 1966, he moved to India and gained admission to the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) to pursue a course in motion picture photography. Upon completion of his diploma, he entered Malayalam cinema as a cinematographer in the early 1970s.

After working in over 20 films as a cinematographer, Mahendra made his directorial debut in 1977 with the Kannada film Kokila. Since then, he directed over 20 films in a span of 36 years. Along with Bharathiraja and Mahendran, he is regarded as a trendsetter in Tamil cinema. He was the recipient of six National Film Awards (including two for Best Cinematography), five Filmfare Awards South and several state government awards.

Of his illustious career, some of his most memorable works inlcude Moodu Pani, Kokila, Azhiyaada Kolam and Moondram Pirai, which was remade in Hindi by him, as ‘Sadma’, Let us listen to this unforgattable song from the film.

आज ही जयंति है भारतीय सेना के वीर अमर शहीदों में एक हवलदार मेजर पीरू सिंह शेखावत की जिन्हें मरणोपरांत देश के सर्वोच्च सैनिक सम्मान परमवीर चक्र” से सम्मानित किया गया था। । हवलदार मेजर पीरू सिंह शेखावत ने उन्नीस सौ अड़तालीस मे पाकिस्तानी सेना से लड़ते हुए अभूतपूर्व वीरता और नेतृत्व का परिचय दिया और कश्मीर के दारापारी के युद्ध में शहीद हो गए. पीरू सिंह का जन्म आज ही के दिन 1918 को राजस्थान के झुंझुनू ज़िले में हुआ था।

बात 1948 की है उत्तरी तिथवा की ‘डी’ कम्पनी में पीरू सिंह हवलदार मेजर के रूप में नियुक्त थे और इस कम्पनी को जिम्मेदारी सौंपी गई थी कि वह पहाड़ी पर जमी दुश्मन की टुकड़ी पर हमला करके उस पर काबू कर ले। दुश्मन ने बहुत चतुराई से मीडियम मशीनगनें लगा कर अपनी रणनीति बनाई थी और उसकी ओर से वह सब रास्ते निशाने पर थे, जिनके जरिए उन पर हमला बोला जा सकता था। दुश्मन के बंकरों से ग्रेनेड फेंके जा रहे थे। हवलदार मेजर पीरू सिंह कम्पनी की एकदम अग्रिम पंक्ति में आगे बढ़ रहे थे।

इस बीच अचानक एक ग्रेनेड आकर सीधे उनके चेहरे पर लगा। इसकी परवाह न करते हुए दूसरी खाई में छिपे दुश्मनों पर भी संगीन से वार किया और दो सैनिकों को ठिकाने लगा दिया। थे । इसी घायल अवस्था में हवलदार पीरू सिंह दूसरी खाई से निकल कर दुश्मन के तीसरे बंकर की ओर बढ़े। इसी वक्त एक गोली आकर सीधे उनके सिर में लगी और उन्होंने देश के लिए सर्वोच्च बलिदान दिया .उनकी जयंती पर पुरे देश का नमन।

Today is the birthday of one of Telugu cinema’s prominent stars, Jr. NTR. The grandson of Telugu matinee idol, N. T. Rama Rao Sr. who was also the former Chief Minister of the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh, Jr. NTR appeared as a child actor in works such as Brahmarshi Viswamitra (1991), and Ramayanam (1997), the latter winning the National Film Award for Best Children’s Film for that year. He made his debut as a lead actor with Ninnu Choodalani (2001). He rose to prominence with the coming-of-age film Student No. 1 (2001) and the action drama Aadi (2002).
