The standoff between the government and the Opposition in Parliament was resolved, as both sides agreed to hold a discussion on the national song Vande Mataram as well as electoral reforms. After two days of chaos and disruptions, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla held a Business Advisory Committee meeting with floor leaders, where it was decided that a 10-hour-long discussion on electoral reforms will be held in the Lower House of Parliament on 9th and 10th of December. During the meeting, it was also decided that the discussion on the 150th anniversary of Vande Mataram will take place from 12 noon on 8th of December. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to initiate the special discussion on the 150th anniversary of India’s national song. The decision comes after the parliament was facing several adjournments, amid persistent sloganeering by opposition MPs demanding a discussion on the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of voter lists in 9 states and Union Territories.

सरकार ने मोबाइल हैंडसेट की प्रामाणिकता की पुष्टि के लिए उनमें संचार साथी ऐप पहले से इंस्टॉल करने के निर्देश जारी किए हैं। दूरसंचार विभाग ने मोबाइल हैंडसेट निर्माताओं और आयातकों को निर्देश दिया है कि वे यह सुनिश्चित करें कि भारत में उपयोग के लिए निर्मित या आयातित सभी मोबाइल हैंडसेट में संचार साथी मोबाइल एप्लिकेशन पहले से इंस्टॉल हो। विभाग ने कहा कि पहले से इंस्टॉल किया गया संचार साथी एप्लिकेशन अंतिम उपयोगकर्ता को पहली बार इस्तेमाल या डिवाइस सेटअप के समय आसानी से दिखाई और सुलभ होना चाहिए।
1)The Government has clarified that the Sanchar Saathi app poses no privacy or surveillance risks. Instead, it delivers strong citizen-centric benefits:
1.43 crore fake or unauthorised mobile connections have been disconnected.
26 lakh lost or stolen phones traced, with 7.23 lakh recovered.
40.96 lakh fraudulent mobile connections cut off based on citizen inputs, and 6.2 lakh fraud-linked IMEIs blocked.
₹475 crore in financial losses prevented through the Fraud Risk Indicator system. And thanks to quick reporting, authorities can now identify fraud patterns, block numbers, and stop repeat offenders.
2)On the question of pre-installation, the Government says the directive only asks manufacturers to make the app **visible, functional and not hidden. It does NOT stop users from uninstalling it. Citizens remain fully free to delete or ignore the app.
3)Regarding permissions, the Government explains that Sanchar Saathi uses only limited data, and only with user consent:
Basic permissions help verify the SIM through a one-time SMS, just like any banking or UPI app.
Additional permissions—camera or screenshot access—are used only if a user chooses to report a fraud or check handset genuineness.
4)Importantly, the app never accesses contacts, location, microphone, Bluetooth, other apps, or any private data. Users can remove permissions anytime or simply uninstall the app.
Both Android and iOS have cleared the app after security checks, and it already has 1.4 crore downloads with around 2,000 fraud reports daily.
The Government confirms that the move is legally and constitutionally sound, issued under the Telecom Cybersecurity Rules 2024 and the Telecommunications Act 2023.

The Chola Era fame Woraiyur cotton sarees, Thooyamalli rice known for its pearl and jasmine like shine, the bright coloured wooden toys of Ambasamudram, Namakkal’s soapstone utensils and the country sugar of Kavindapadi have been given geographical indication. In total, 74 products have secured GI tags. Tamilnadu Handicrafts Development Corporation and the Tamilnadu State Agricultural Marketing Board have made the initiatives alongwith the NGOs and weavers societies to ensure that the geographical uniqueness of these products are duly recognised and gainfully exploited by the artisans and farmers. IPR Attorney P.Sanjay Gandhi said that Woraiyur located along River Cauvery was a bustling hub for textiles, spices and gemstones patronised by the Roman, Greek and European traders. The cotton has been immortalised in Greek and Tamil literature. The sarees are distinguished by their thin borders with plain or minimal designs. The unique mineral composition of water from the Cauvery enhances the absorption of dyes into the cotton yarn giving the sarees their characteristic brilliance and durability. Thooyamalli is a native rice variety of Tamilnadu. The samba’s crop’s duration is 135 to 140 days including the nursery period of 30 to 35 days. The fermented rice tastes like tender coconut water. Wooden toys of Ambasamudram, the most mountainous of all the taluks in Tamilnadu with half its area composed of ghats and forests including the famous Kalakkad – Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve. The toys are safe, eco friendly and non toxic in nature.Miniature wooden kitchen utensils and spinning top are popular. Originally they were made from teak, rosewood. Now rubber wood and Eucalyptus are used . However the quality has been trained. Namakkal Stone Utensils are called Kalchatty. Lamps, idols, incense and candle stands, paper weights, star shaped lamps, dosa pans, toys and miniature household articles are made out of the stone. The handmade stone utensils are used for cooking as it involves use of tamarind and lime. They are not affected by citrus or chemicals. Hence ideal to store pickles, milk and curd without the threat of corrosion or poisoning.

C-CAMP, which is India’s premier biotechnology innovation hub in Bengaluru has set up a Centre of Excellence for sustainability and climate action in collaboration with Ashraya Hastha Trust, which is a Bengaluru based philanthropy. Karnataka minister for Health and Family Welfare Dinesh Gundu Rao launched the Centre at C CAMP premises in Bengaluru. The Centre of Excellence will work on biology driven solutions that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions and enable natural and scalable biological carbon sequestration. It has three roles to work on and they are climate readiness, climate resilience and climate friendliness in modern healthcare and agriculture. The Centre of Excellence will engage with stakeholders on select thematic areas of climate intersecting with Environment, Health and Agriculture and come out with solutions in the next three to five years.

In Telangana, the Cyber Security Bureau has launched ‘Fraud ka full stop’ to create large-scale awareness among masses on digital frauds. State Director General of Police, B Shivadhar Reddy launched the six week programme that will have the police collaborating with educational institutions, banks, NGOs and social groups to create awareness about cyber frauds through different mediums across the cities, towns and villages in the State. Addressing the media conference in Hyderabad, the DGP said in the last decade cybercrimes had increased manifold and scamsters sitting in far off places were stealing huge amounts from unsuspecting people using a cell phone. Stating that a little carelessness is costing a fortune to the victims, he said greediness is also a reason for people to fall victims.

हिन्दी सिनेमा के सुप्रसिद्ध अभिनेता, निर्माता, निर्देशक देवानंद की आज पुण्यतिथि है। उनका पूरा नाम धर्मदेव आनंद था। भारतीय सिनेमा के शुरुआती दौर के प्रसिद्ध अभिनेता देवा आनंद जीवन भर सक्रिय और चर्चित रहे। वे बॉलीवुड में ‘देव साहब’ के नाम से एक ज़िन्दादिल और भले इंसान के रूप में प्रसिद्ध थे। भारतीय सिनेमा में दो पीढ़ियों तक लगातार हीरो बने रहने वाले कलाकार के विषय में यदि विचार करें तो केवल एक ही नाम उभरता है और वह है देव आनंद। कभी अपनी एक फ़िल्म में उन्होंने एक गीत गुनगुनाया था ‘मैं ज़िंदगी का साथ निभाता चला गया, हर फ़िक्र को धुंए में उड़ाता चला गया’ और शायद यही गीत उनके जीवन को सबसे अच्छी तरह परिभाषित भी करता है।
देव आनंद का नाम हिंदी सिने जगत् के आकाश में स्टाइल गुरु बनकर जगमगाता है। सदाबहार अभिनेता देव आनंद को लोग ‘एवरग्रीन देव साहब’ कह कर पुकारते हैं। सदाबहार देवानंद का जलवा अब भी बरक़रार है। छह दशक से अधिक समय तक रुपहले परदे पर राज करने वाले देवानंद साहब का 26 सितंबर को जन्मदिन पड़ता है और 88 वर्ष की उम्र हृदयगति रुक जाने से 3 दिसम्बर 2011 को उनका देहावसान हुआ।
उनकी चर्चित फिल्मों में ‘गाइड’, ‘हम दोनों’, ‘बाज़ी’, ‘काला बाज़ार’, ‘असली नक़ली’, ‘ज्वेलथीफ़’, ‘जॉनी मेरा नाम’ शामिल हैं।
