The full Election Commission of India (ECI) team, led by Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar has reached Patna on a two-day visit to review preparations for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections. The delegation includes Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi. On the first day of their visit today, the team will meet representatives of political parties to hear their suggestions. Later, the Commission will hold series of meetings with administrative and police officials to review arrangements related to law and order. Tomorrow, the poll body will hold discussions with nodal officers of various enforcement agencies to ensure free and fair elections and review measures against black money, liquor and narcotics smuggling, and other violations during the election period. It will also meet the Chief Electoral Officer, the state’s police nodal officers, and the nodal officers of the Central Armed Police Forces. The Commission will also hold a meeting with the state’s Chief Secretary, Bihar Director General of Police (DGP), and other senior officials. The poll panel will address a press conference tomorrow afternoon on its assessment of poll preparedness.

Palestinian armed group Hamas has agreed to release all the remaining Israeli hostages but says it wants further negotiations on a number of key points outlined in the US peace plan. In a statement, the group said it agreed to release all Israeli prisoners, both living and dead, according to the exchange formula contained in US President Donald Trump’s proposal if the proper conditions for the exchanges are met. But the remarks appears to suggest that Hamas is seeking further negotiation on other issues regarding the future of Gaza and the rights of Palestinians. The announcement came hours after President Trump gave Hamas a Sunday deadline to accept the 20-point peace plan or face all hell. There are believed to be 48 hostages still being held in the Palestinian territory by the armed group, out of which, only 20 are thought to be alive.

शिक्षा मंत्रालय ने विद्यार्थियों से विकसित भारत बिल्डथॉन 2025 में शामिल होने की अपील की है। इसके लिए सोमवार तक आवेदन जमा किए जा सकते हैं। नीति आयोग के तहत अटल नवाचार मिशन के सहयोग से यह पहल पिछले महीने की 23 तारीख को शुरू की गई थी। शिक्षा मंत्रालय ने कहा है कि यह कक्षा 6 से 12 तक के स्कूली छात्रों को शामिल करने वाला भारत का अब तक का सबसे बड़ा छात्र नवाचार है। इसका उद्देश्य छात्रों को समूह में शामिल होने, रचनात्मक रूप से सोचने और राष्ट्रीय महत्व के विषयों पर चुनौतियों का समाधान करने वाले विचारों को विकसित करने के लिए प्रोत्साहित करना है। विजेता स्कूलों और छात्रों को कॉर्पोरेट सहयोग, मार्गदर्शन और संसाधनों के माध्यम से दीर्घकालिक समर्थन दिया जाएगा।

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has released its recommendations on formulating a Digital Radio Broadcast Policy for private Radio broadcasters. It has also recommended the reserve price for commencement of digital radio broadcasting service in four A+ category cities, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai, and nine A category cities, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Surat, Pune, Jaipur, Lucknow, Kanpur and Nagpur. TRAI has recommended that the digital radio services should be commenced in Simulcast mode by new broadcasters. The existing analog FM Radio broadcasters should also be permitted to migrate to simulcast mode on voluntary basis. It has also recommended that the period of authorisation for digital radio broadcasting should be 15 years. The authority said, Prasar Bharati should share its land and tower infrastructure as well as common transmission infrastructure with private broadcasters at concessional rental rates while taking full recovery of operational expenses.

At the ongoing World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi, India bagged four medals yesterday including two gold and two bronze to take the overall tally to 15. Indian para-athlete Nishad Kumar clinched his maiden gold medal in the men’s high jump T47 category, while Simran Sharma claimed the yellow metal in the women’s 100m T12 sprint. On the other hand, Pardeep Kumar clinched bronze in Men’s Discuss Throw F64 event while Preethi Pal won the medal in Women’s 200m T35 event. With this, India currently stand at fourth position with six gold, five silver and four bronze. Brazil stand at the top with 37 medals including 12 gold, followed by China with 38 medals comprising nine yellow metal and Poland with 15 medals including eight gold.

Greater Chennai Traffic Police arrested a group of youth involved in illegal bike racing and performing dangerous stunts near DGP office on Kamarajar Salai. The police acted on a complaint lodged by residents about reckless riding and stunts on the arterial road. Intensive vehicle checks by cops in plain clothes near Marina Police Station enabled them to nab the violators. Cases have been registered against five men for rash and negligent driving.
The Indian Institute of Technology Madras has launched an initiative to equip engineering and diploma students across India with a curated training program. By setting a national standard for internship and job readiness, National internship, placement training and assessment aims to transform the way employability is assessed in India. The platform will directly connect assessed students with potential employers, creating a seamless bridge to career opportunities. Prof. V.Kamakoti Director of IIT Madras said that the initiative is very timely.
It also aligns with the Institute motto IITM for all wherein the opportunities are democratised for all students through the portal. The faculty Prof. Srikant Vedantam said that it is a major step forward in making employability measurable and transparent. With this initiative, IIT M is committed to empowering students nationwide to hone their skills and obtain a standardised credential to find the best internship and employment opportunities.
The IIT Madras team will provide free training resources, including video lectures and sample questions, ensuring that every student has equal access to preparatory material. Students will only be required to pay a nominal fee to take the assessment. Each participant will receive a performance based certificate issued by IIT Madras serving as a transparent and credible indicator of skills and competencies. The preparation period will culminate in a three hour, proctored evaluation will be conducted in designated centres across the country in person mode.

- Groundwater levels in Bengaluru Urban have risen by 0.5 to 1.2 metres over the past year, driven by rainfall, recharge structures, irrigation expansion, and wastewater reuse, according to data from the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB)and the Minor Irrigation and Groundwater Development Department. Yet, the city remains in the ‘over-exploited’ or ‘critical’ category due to its heavy reliance on borewells. The BWSSB noted that residents with open wells and borewells are experiencing improved water availability, with some long-dry wells starting to yield again. The board has also set up 1,500 recharge wells and over 3,000 recharge pits in schools, parks, and public spaces, while encouraging citizens to adopt similar practices.
- Chief Commissioner Maheshwar Rao directed officials to complete the ₹13.36 crore Geddalahalli Railway Vent work near Sai Layout by December 2025 to prevent flooding caused by the narrow existing vent. Two box structures of 6m x 4.5m are being installed under the railway track, and he instructed that box pushing be expedited after casting.During his inspection in KR Puram limits, Rao also ordered faster completion of the Hennur–Bagalur Road white-topping ensuring dust-free and clean roads; Blessing Garden Road widening and reviewed the Horamavu Junction Suraksha 75 project. He directed Solid Waste Management (SWM) officials to clear garbage “black spots” in Sai Layout, maintain CCTV cameras to prevent illegal dumping, and asked the North City Corporation to expedite beautification works on 8th Main Road, Banaswadi.

A study by the scientists from the Hyderabad-based CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) revealed that the genetic make-up of the Sindhi population settled in the Western parts of India is quite different and unique from Pakistani Sindhis. The first high-throughput genetic study on the Sindhi population living on the West Coast of India, conducted by Dr. Kumarasamy Thangaraj and his colleague, Dr. Lomous Kumar revealed this. The study was published recently in the journal of Human Genomics.
Dr Thangaraj said they found that the Sindhi population on the west coast of India has unique genetic make-up, which is different from Pakistani Sindhis. Dr. Lomous Kumar said the Indian Sindhi group has a small, unique genetic component from East Asia that might have been incorporated much earlier in history, likely reflecting imprints of Iron Age or later migrations, possibly Mongols, in their genomes. CSIR -CCMB Director Dr Vinay K Nandicoori said these findings conclusively demonstrate the demographic changes and population shifts in western India associated with multiple migrations.

यमुनापार स्थित खजूरी खास क्षेत्र में उच्च स्तरीय शिक्षा के लिए एक नया केंद्रीय विद्यालय खोला जायेगा। इसके लिए दिल्ली सरकार ने केंद्रीय विद्यालय संगठन को जमीन उपलब्ध करा दी है। मुख्यमंत्री रेखा गुप्ता ने इस निर्णय पर प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी को धन्यवाद दिया है। उन्होंने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री मोदी के दूरदर्शी नेतृत्व में देशभर में खोले जा रहे केंद्रीय विद्यालय दिल्ली सहित न केवल भारत के शैक्षणिक परिदृश्य को सशक्त करेंगे, बल्कि लाखों बच्चों के उज्ज्वल भविष्य की नींव भी रखेंगे। श्रीमती गुप्ता ने कहा कि यह विद्यालय शैक्षणिक सत्र 2025-26 से शुरू किया जाएगा और प्रारंभिक रूप से विद्यालय में प्राथमिक कक्षाएं संचालित की जाएंगी।

दिल्ली के महापौर सरदार राजा इकबाल सिंह ने कल दिल्ली वासियों से संपत्तिकर माफी योजना का लाभ उठाने की अपील की है। 2025-26- संपत्तिकर निपटान योजना- सुनियो के तहत, करदाता वित्तीय वर्ष 2020-21 से पहले ब्याज और जुर्माने सहित संपत्ति कर की पूरी छूट का लाभ उठा सकते हैं। महापौर ने सभी संपत्ति मालिकों और कब्जाधारियों से कहा कि वे विस्तारित अवधि के दौरान सुनियो के तहत इस अवसर का लाभ उठाएं और बिना किसी दंड या ब्याज के बकाया संपत्ति कर का भुगतान करें। श्री सिंह ने बताया कि अब तक एक लाख 29 हज़ार से अधिक करदाता इस पहल से लाभान्वित हो चुके हैं और वे पांच सौ 19 करोड़ रुपये से अधिक का संपत्ति कर अदा कर चुके हैं।

महाराष्ट्र खाद्य एवं औषधि प्रशासन (एफडीए) ने त्योहारी सीजन से पहले खाद्य पदार्थों में मिलावट की जाँच के लिए राज्यव्यापी अभियान शुरू किया है। शुक्रवार को मीडियाकर्मियों से बात करते हुए, एफडीए मंत्री नरहरि ज़िरवाल ने कहा कि ‘महाराष्ट्र का त्योहार – खाद्य सुरक्षा के प्रति प्रतिबद्धता’ अभियान के तहत, अब तक 1,594 से अधिक प्रतिष्ठानों की जांच की गई और दूध, घी, मिठाई, मेवे और चॉकलेट सहित 2,369 खाद्य नमूने एकत्र किए गए हैं। 554 परीक्षण किए गए नमूनों में से 513 मानक, 26 घटिया, 4 में लेबलिंग दोष थे, जबकि 11 असुरक्षित पाए गए। उन्होंने बताया कि नागपुर, छत्रपति संभाजीनगर और पुणे में नई खाद्य परीक्षण प्रयोगशालाओं का जल्द ही उद्घाटन किया जाएगा।

राजस्व खुफिया निदेशालय की मुंबई क्षेत्रीय इकाई ने बैंकॉक से छत्रपति शिवाजी महाराज अंतर्राष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे पर पहुंची दो महिला यात्रियों से लगभग ₹79.5 करोड़ मूल्य का लगभग 8 किलोग्राम कोकीन जब्त किया। दोनों यात्रियों को गिरफ्तार कर न्यायिक हिरासत में भेज दिया गया है। अधिकारियों ने बताया कि अंतरराष्ट्रीय तस्करी नेटवर्क का पता लगाने के लिए जाँच जारी है।

बॉम्बे उच्च न्यायालय ने शुक्रवार को रिलायंस कम्युनिकेशंस और उसके अध्यक्ष अनिल अंबानी के ऋण खाते को ‘धोखाधड़ी’ के रूप में वर्गीकृत करने के भारतीय स्टेट बैंक के फैसले को बरकरार रखा। यह वर्गीकरण 13 जून 2025 को भारतीय रिज़र्व बैंक के धोखाधड़ी जोखिम प्रबंधन पर मास्टर निर्देशों और एसबीआई की आंतरिक नीतियों के तहत किया गया था । श्री अंबानी ने इस फैसले को चुनौती देते हुए कहा था कि बैंक ने खाते को धोखाधड़ी के रूप में चिह्नित करने से पहले उन्हें सुनवाई का अवसर न देकर प्राकृतिक न्याय के सिद्धांतों का उल्लंघन किया है।

कोलकाता स्थित मौसम विभाग के अलीपुर मौसम कार्यालय ने आज पश्चिम बंगाल में बारिश का अनुमान जताया है। हवा में नमी के कारण दक्षिण बंगाल के मुर्शिदाबाद, बीरभूम, पूर्व और पश्चिम मेदिनीपुर, पुरुलिया और बांकुरा जिलों में भारी बारिश होने की संभावना है। तटीय जिलों के मछुआरों को अगले 24 घंटों में तूफानी मौसम की स्थिति के कारण समुद्र में न जाने की सलाह दी गई है। पश्चिम बंगाल के तटीय इलाकों में हवा की गति 35 किमी से 45 किमी प्रति घंटे के बीच रहने की संभावना है। उत्तर बंगाल के जिलों में भारी वर्षा होने की संभावना है, जलपाईगुड़ी, अलीपुरद्वार और दार्जिलिंग जिलों में बहुत भारी वर्षा हो सकती है।

जयंती-रामचन्द्र शुक्ल (4 अक्टूबर, 1884- 1941)
बीसवीं शताब्दी के प्रमुख हिन्दी साहित्यकार आचार्य रामचन्द्र शुक्ल को नमन जिन्होंने हिन्दी साहित्य की सेवा के साथ उसे समृद्ध भी किया। आज आचार्य शुक्ल की जयंती है। उनकी लिखी गई पुस्तकों में हिन्दी साहित्य का इतिहास प्रमुख है, जिसका हिन्दी पाठ्यक्रम को निर्धारित करने में प्रमुख स्थान है।
रामचन्द्र शुक्ल जी का जन्म उत्तर प्रदेश के बस्ती ज़िले में 1884 में हुआ। 1892 में उनके पिता की नियुक्ति मिर्ज़ापुर में सदर क़ानूनगो के रूप में हो गई और वे पिता के साथ मिर्ज़ापुर आ गये। जहां वह पण्डित केदारनाथ पाठक, बदरी नारायण चौधरी के सम्पर्क में आए जिससे अध्ययन में गम्भीरता आई।
1909 में वह काशी आ गये, जहां काशी नागरी प्रचारिणी सभा के विभिन्न कार्यों को करते हुए उनकी प्रतिभा को निखार मिला। 1937 में काशी हिन्दू विश्वविद्यालय के हिन्दी विभागाध्यक्ष नियुक्त हुए।
शुक्ल जी रचित हिन्दी साहित्य के इतिहास में काव्य प्रवृत्तियों, कवियों का परिचय और उनकी समीक्षा भी है। उन्होंने विविध क्षेत्रों में लेखन किया लेकिन उनका सबसे महत्वपूर्ण एवं कालजयी रूप समीक्षक, निबन्ध लेखक एवं साहित्यिक इतिहासकार के रूप में प्रकट हुआ है।
आचार्य रामचन्द्र शुक्ल – निबन्धकार के रूप में किसी भी भाषा के लिए गर्व के विषय हो सकते हैं तथा समीक्षक के रूप में तो वे हिन्दी में अप्रतिम हैं। बनारस हिन्दू विश्वविद्यालय के हिन्दी विभागाध्यक्ष पद पर रहते हुए 1941 में हृदय गति रूक जाने से उनका निधन हो गया।

पुण्य तिथि – कस्तूरी बाई (जन्म- 1892 – 4 अक्टूबर, 1979)
समाज सेविका और आजादी के आंदोलन में सक्रिय रही कवियत्री कस्तूरी बाई को भी आज नमन। माखन लाल चतुर्वेदी की बहन कस्तूरी बाई आजादी के आंदोलन में विभिन्न स्वरूपों में सक्रिय रहने के कारण जेल भी गईं।
कस्तूरी बाई का जन्म 1892 में हुआ था। समाज सेवा और राष्ट्रीय आंदोलन में सक्रिय रूप से भाग लेना उनके आरम्भिक जीवन काल से रहा। महिला संगठन, चरखा सिखाने की कक्षा लेना, शराब एवं विदेशी वस्त्रों की दुकान पर धरना देना आदि कार्यों से उन्होंने भारत के लोगों को अपने स्तर पर विदेशी शासन का विरोध करने के लिए प्रेरित किया।
4 अक्टूबर, 1979 को कस्तूरी बाई का निधन हो गया। उनके निधन पर जिला कांग्रेस कमेटी ने एक सार्वजनिक सभा में प्रस्ताव पास किया। इस प्रकार कस्तूरी बाई अपनी देशभक्ति एवं समाज सेवा के कारण भारतीय स्वतंत्रता के इतिहास में अपना नाम अमर कर गईं।

जयंती-श्यामजी कृष्ण वर्मा (4 अक्टूबर, 1857 – 31 मार्च, 1930)
नमन भारत की स्वाधीनता संघर्ष के एक और सिपाही को जिसका आज ही के दिन जन्म हुआ। वह नाम है – श्यामजी कृष्ण वर्मा, जो भारत के उन अमर सपूतों में हैं, जिन्होंने अपना सम्पूर्ण जीवन भारत की आज़ादी के लिए अर्पित कर दिया। श्यामजी कृष्ण वर्मा का जन्म 4 अक्टूबर, 1857 को गुजरात के मांडवी गांव में हुआ था।
आजादी के लिए भारत का संघर्ष बहुआयामी था और उस दौर में स्वाधीनता का स्वप्न देखने वाले राष्ट्र भक्तों में एक श्यामजी कृष्ण वर्मा – स्वामी दयानंद सरस्वती के सान्निध्य में उन्होंने संस्कृत व वेदशास्त्रों के विद्वान के रूप में भी प्रतिष्ठा प्राप्त की।
श्यामजी कृष्ण वर्मा ने 1888 में अजमेर में वकालत के दौरान स्वराज के लिए काम करना शुरू किया। रतलाम और जूनागढ़ में दीवान रहकर जनहित के काम किए। 1905 में कर्ज़न की ज़्यादतियों के विरुद्ध संघर्षरत रहे। इंग्लैंड से मासिक ‘द इंडियन सोशिओलॉजिस्ट’ प्रकाशित किया, जिसका प्रकाशन बाद में जिनेवा से भी हुआ। इंग्लैंड में रहकर उन्होंने इंडिया हाउस की स्थापना की। 1905 में भारत अपने पर उन्होंने इंडियन होमरूल सोसायटी की स्थापना की।
1918 के बर्लिन और इंग्लैंड में हुए विद्या सम्मेलनों में उन्होंने भारत का प्रतिनिधित्व किया था। श्यामजी कृष्ण वर्मा पहले भारतीय थे, जिन्हें ऑक्सफोर्ड से एम.ए. और बैरिस्टर की उपाधियां मिलीं थीं। पुणे में उनके संस्कृत के भाषण से प्रभावित मोनियर विलियम्स ने वर्माजी को ऑक्सफोर्ड में संस्कृत का सहायक प्रोफेसर बना दिया था।
मातृ भूमि की सेवा के लिए अपनी धरती से दूर जिनेवा में पं. श्यामजी कृष्ण वर्मा का 31 मार्च, 1930 को निधन हुआ। उनकी इच्छा थी कि मृत्यु के बाद उनकी अस्थियां स्वतंत्र भारत की धरती पर ले जाई जाए। उनकी यह इच्छा पूरी हुई भारत की स्वतन्त्रता के 56 वर्ष बाद 2003 में जब प्रधनमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने गुजरात का मुख्यमंत्री रहते हुए उनकी अस्थियों को भारत लाने प्रयास किया।

‘बंगा विभूषण’ से सम्मानित और सर्वश्रेष्ठ महिला पार्श्वगायिका का राष्ट्रीय फिल्म पुरस्कार विजेता संध्या मुखर्जी की भी आज जयंती है। संध्या मुखर्जी ने कई बंगाली फिल्मों और हिन्दी फिल्मों में अपनी आवाज दी। उन्होंने एस. डी. बर्मन, मदन मोहन, नौशाद, अनिल विश्वास और सलिल चौधरी सहित कई प्रमुख संगीत निर्देशकों के साथ काम किया था।
मुखर्जी ने पहला हिंदी गाना 1950 में आई फिल्म ‘ताराना’ के लिए गाया। उन्होंने बतौर हिंदी गायिका 17 गाने गाए। इसके बाद वह वापस कलकत्ता लौट गईं जहां उन्होंने अनेकों बंगाली गाने गाए।
