बांस सदियों से मनुष्य के जीवन के जीवन में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाता आ रहा है। इसका इस्तेमाल सब्जी बनाने, जरूरत की वस्तुएं बनाने में किया जाता है। बांस को पर्यावरण के लिए भी काफी अच्छा माना जाता है। बांस की उपयोगिता और लाभ के प्रति लोगों को जागरूक करने के लिए प्रतिवर्ष 18 सितंबर को ‘वर्ल्ड बैंबू डे’ मनाया जाता है।
Theme for this year- Next Generation Bamboo: Solution, Innovation, and Design. India is one of the largest producers of bamboo. The country has about 14 million hectares of bamboo area. It is home to nearly 136 species. The Northeast region alone accounts for two-thirds of the growing stock. Bamboo production in India is increasing due to policies like the National Bamboo Mission and better awareness. Farmers are adopting bamboo plantations because they require less water, grow fast, and provide long-term income. Production is not only about quantity but also about quality. Treated bamboo can replace timber in many industries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has emphasised that the festive season is also a time to reaffirm the mantra of Swadeshi. After laying the foundation stone and inaugurating development works at Dhar in Madhya Pradesh yesterday, Mr Modi urged citizens to ensure that whatever they buy or sell is made in India. Recalling Mahatma Gandhi’s use of Swadeshi as a tool for independence, he said that it must now become the foundation of a developed India.
Mr Modi highlighted that when essential goods are manufactured domestically, they generate employment for fellow citizens. With reduced GST rates coming into effect from 22nd September, coinciding with the start of Navratri, he urged everyone to purchase Swadeshi products and benefit from the revised rates.

On this Independence Day, from the ramparts of the Red Fort, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had announced the next generation of GST reforms. His vision was realized on the 3rd of this month, when the GST Council reduced tax rates in many sectors to ease the lives of citizens. The new rates will come into effect from 22nd of this month, benefiting the public. Today we take a look at the Textile Sector.
The big tax cut on the textile industry under the next generation reforms has eased the financial burden on the common man. The GST rates on Man-Made Fibres has been brought down to 5 percent from previously taxed 18 percent. While the GST on Man made yarns has been slashed from 12 percent to 5 percent. This rationalisation in the textiles sector is expected to reduce cost, boost demand and support exports. Meanwhile, the GST on readymade garments that costs upto 2 thousand 500 Rupees per piece has also been reduced to 5 percent making fashion affordable and boosting demand. Talking to Media, a textile trader, Sushil Garodia has welcomed the move and said that this step will boost the textile sector as well as the nation’s economy.
The tax cut will make Indian garments affordable for middle class and lower income households. This will further revive demand, enhance export competitiveness in global markets and support India’s ambition to become a global textile hub. With Saklen, Rohan for Akashvani News, Delhi.

निर्वाचन आयोग ने ईवीएम मतपत्रों की स्पष्टता बढ़ाने के लिए चुनाव नियमों में ईवीएम मतपत्रों की डिजाइन और प्रिंटिंग से संबंधित दिशानिर्देशों में संशोधन किया है।
दिशानिर्देशों के अनुसार, ईवीएम मतपत्र पर उम्मीदवारों की रंगीन तस्वीरें मुद्रित की जाएँगी और स्पष्टता के लिए प्रत्याशी का चेहरा तस्वीर के तीन-चौथाई भाग पर अंकित होगा। चुनाव में एकरूपता बढ़ाने के लिए सभी उम्मीदवारों के नाम और नोटा विकल्प को आसानी से पढ़ने के लिए एक ही फ़ॉन्ट में मुद्रित किया जाएगा। इसकी शुरुआत बिहार से होगी।

छत्तीसगढ़ के बीजापुर जिले में सुरक्षा बलों के साथ मुठभेड़ में दो माओवादी मारे गए। सुरक्षा बलों को जिले के दक्षिण-पश्चिमी क्षेत्र में बड़ी संख्या में माओवादियों की मौजूदगी की खुफिया जानकारी मिलने पर कल यह मुठभेड़ हुई। मुठभेड़ के दौरान जिला रिजर्व गार्ड के दो जवान घायल हो गए। उनकी हालत खतरे से बाहर बताई गई है।
इस बीच, छत्तीसगढ़ के नारायणपुर जिले में बारह माओवादियों ने आत्मसमर्पण कर दिया है। पुलिस अधीक्षक रॉबिन्सन गुरिया ने बताया कि आत्मसमर्पण करने वालों में से नौ पर कुल अठारह लाख रुपये का इनाम था। सुकमा जिले में सुरक्षा बलों ने चार माओवादियों को गिरफ्तार किया है। उनके पास से एक टिफिन बम और अन्य विस्फोटक सामग्री बरामद की गई है।

The US Federal Reserve has lowered its benchmark interest rate by 0.25 percentage points – its first cut since December last year – as the United States grapples with a stalling labor market and slower economic growth. The Fed cut reduces the federal funds rate – what banks charge each other for short-term loans – to between 4 percent and 4.25 percent, down from its prior range of 4.25 percent to 4.5 percent.
The Fed said in a statement that job gains have slowed, and the unemployment rate has edged up but remains low. It also said inflation has moved up and remains somewhat elevated.

राजधानी में दिल्ली पुलिस द्वारा आयोजित एक कार्यक्रम में कल दिल्ली के उपराज्यपाल विनय कुमार सक्सेना ने पुलिस द्वारा बरामद किए गए एक हजार 559 मोबाइल फोन उनके असली मालिकों को सौंपे। इन मोबाइल फोन के गुम तथा चोरी होने के मामले पुलिस में दर्ज थे। इस अवसर पर श्री सक्सेना ने चोरी हुए मोबाइल फोन बरामद करने के प्रयासों के लिए 22 पुलिस अधिकारियों और ऐसी घटनाओं को रोकने में बहादुरी दिखाने वाले नागरिकों को भी सम्मानित किया।
इस कार्यक्रम में, दिल्ली पुलिस आयुक्त सतीश गोलचा ने बताया कि इस वर्ष 15 सितंबर तक छह हजार 432 मोबाइल फोन बरामद किए गए हैं, जिनमें से तीन हजार 589 उनके मालिकों को वापस कर दिए गए हैं।
चोरी के मोबाइल फोन बरामद करने वाली एक पुलिस टीम का नेतृत्व करने वाले इंस्पेक्टर रोहित ने आकाशवाणी समाचार से बात करते हुए बताया कि उनकी टीम ने पांच सौ से अधिक मोबाइल फोन बरामद किये हैं।
वहीं, इस कार्यक्रम में चोरी हुआ अपना मोबाइल फोन प्राप्त करने वाले ललित कुमार तिवारी ने आकाशवाणी समाचार से बात करते हुए में खुशी जाहिर की है, और दिल्ली पुलिस का धन्यवाद व्यक्त किया है।
दिल्ली पुलिस ने वर्ष 2023 से इस वर्ष 15 सितम्बर तक कुल पंद्रह हजार 591 मोबाइल फोन बरामद किए हैं, जिनमें से अभी तक बारह हजार 446 मोबाइल फोन उनके असली मालिकों को सौंप दिए गए हैं।

Chennai Division of Southern Railway launched “Swachhata Hi Seva” campaign, across its railway stations, yesterday. This fortnight-long initiative is observed from 17th September to 02nd October, 2025, with the objective of promoting cleanliness, hygiene and sanitation in all railway premises, in alignment with the Government’s vision of Swachh Bharat Mission. The inauguration ceremony began with the administration of the Swachhata Pledge, reaffirming the commitment of railway personnel and passengers to maintain cleanliness and contribute towards a healthier and cleaner environment.

The Mental Health Institute NIMHANS organised a health screening drive for women at their campus in Bengaluru yesterday as part of Swasth Nari, Sashakt Parivar abhiyaan campaign. The campaign to be organised till October 2nd offers free health screenings, covering haemoglobin, blood pressure, BMI and obesity assessment, mental health screening and dietary counselling. Nearly 200 women benefitted on the very first day yesterday.

Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Prahlad Joshi was the Chief Guest at the event. He administered the cleanliness pledge to all the participants, stressing the importance of hygiene and public responsibility. A tree plantation drive was organised when the volunteers planted several saplings.

A heavy downpour hit Hyderabad last evening, with the northern and western parts of the city bearing the brunt. Started as light, scattered showers, the rain intensified and eventually reached the city’s central areas and became a heavy downpour, impacting areas like Serilingampally, Miyapur, Chandanagar, Kukatpally, and RC Puram, as well as parts of Secunderabad, including Uppal, Kapra, Musheerabad, localities near Osmania University, and Malkajgiri.
Musheerabad recorded the highest rainfall of 184.5 mms while over 20 areas recorded very heavy rainfall by wee hours today.
The heavy rains left the roads inundated and motorists struggled to find their way out of the waterlogged stretches. Power disruptions were also reported at several areas.

1906 – काका हाथरसी – भारतीय हास्य कवि
18 सितम्बर 1906 को उत्तर प्रदेश के हाथरस जिले में जन्मे काका का असली नाम प्रभुलाल गर्ग था। संयोग की बात तो यह है कि 1995 में इसी दिन उनकी मृत्यु भी हुई थी। हास्य और व्यंग्य के क्षेत्र में एक हस्ताक्षर रहे काका हाथरसी जीवन की हर परिस्थिति में हास्य का पुट खोज लेते थे। ये जीवन के प्रति उनका घोर विश्वास और प्रेम ही था। काका, समाज के कुरीतियों, दोषों और दकियानूसी मान्यताओं और राजनीतिक कुशासनों पर हास्य-व्यंग्य के ज़रिये प्रहार करते हैं। व्यंग्य का मूल उद्देश्य भी यही है कि वह सिर्फ मनोरंजन न करे बल्कि पाठक को सोचने पर मजबूर करे। पाठक व्यंग्य को पढ़कर बौखलाए और परिवर्तन के बारे में सोचे।

ये है काका हाथरसी की शैली। आपने कभी ऐसा नहीं सुना होगा कि कोई व्यक्ति मरने से पहले अपनी वसीयत में ये लिख जाए कि, “मेरे मरने के बाद मेरे परिजन या जानने वाले रोएं नहीं बल्कि अट्टहास करके हंसे, ठहाका लगाएं और तब ही मेरी आत्मा को शान्ति मिलेगी”।
1946 में काका की पहली पुस्तक ‘कचहरी’ प्रकाशित हुई। काका अब तक हास्य कवि सम्मेलनों में प्रसिद्धि पाने लगे थे और काका की दाढ़ी भी लोकप्रिय हो चुकी थी। काका ने ख़ुद अपनी दाढ़ी-महिमा का बखान इस तरह किया है:-
काका दाढ़ी राखिए, बिन दाढ़ी मुख सून।
ज्यों मसूरी के बिना, व्यर्थ देहरादून।

असित सेन – हिंदी फ़िल्मों के हास्य अभिनेता थे।
ब्लैक एंड व्हाइट फिल्मों में एक्टिंग और कॉमेडी के लिए मशहूर असित सेन की आज पुण्यतिथि है। असित सेन अपनी अलग पहचान रखते थे। बेहद धीमी और स्लो आवाज से डायलॉग डिलीवरी करना उनकी खासियत थी। ‘बीस साल बाद’ की अपनी भूमिका में इसी स्टाइल की वजह से वे सुपरहिट हो गए।
असित सेन ने करीब 250 बांग्ला और हिंदी फिल्मों में काम किया। असित सेन के फिल्मों में आने का किस्सा भी दिलचस्प है। जब वे बंबई पहुंचे तो उन्हें मशहूर फिल्मकार बिमल रॉय के साथ बतौर कैमरामैन काम करना था। दरअसल, असित सेन को फोटोग्राफी का बहुत शौक था।
उनका उत्तरप्रदेश के गोरखपुर में एक फोटो स्टूडियो भी था। फोटोग्राफी के सिलसिले में वह साल 1949-50 में कोलकाता चले गए। वहां उन्होंने न्यू थिएटर जॉइन किया। वहां एक ड्रामा में एक्टिंग के दौरान बिमल रॉय से उनकी मुलाकात हुई।
इनकी कॉमिक टाइमिंग और बोलने के अंदाज को देखते हुए बिमल रॉय ने इन्हें फिल्म ‘सुजाता’ में प्रोफेसर का रोल दिया। इसके बाद असित बेहतरीन कॉमेडियन के तौर पर पहचाने जाने लगे
