The Election Commission of India, ECI has revised the polling schedule of Lok Sabha elections in the Anantnag-Rajouri parliamentary constituency of Jammu and Kashmir from the third to the sixth phase. The voting in the Anantnag-Rajouri seat will now be held on 25th of May instead of 7th May, as scheduled earlier. The ECI said, the decision has been taken after representations from different political parties of the Union Territory regarding various logistic, communication and natural barriers turning out as hindrance during campaigning leading to lack of fair opportunities for the contesting candidates.

The Election Commission of India- ECI has published a total voter turnout data for phase one and two of ongoing Lok Sabha elections. The commission said yesterday that 66.14 per cent voter turnout was recorded in phase one and 66.71 per cent in phase two. ECI highlighted that the first phase data comprises 66.22 per cent male voters, 66.07 per cent female and 31.32 per cent third gender voters, while in second phase, 66.99 per cent male voters, 66.42 per cent female voters and 23.86 per cent third gender voters used their franchise.

External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar attended the Indian Air Force’s No. 3 Warfare and Aerospace Strategy Programme (WASP) in New Delhi yesterday. In a social media post, The Indian Air Force said that the programme is aimed at exposing the key elements of comprehensive national power, developing critical thinking and cultivating an understanding of a whole of government approach.
The IAF further said that the course consisted of 14 officers from the IAF, two from the Indian Navy and one each from the Indian Army and Academia. The participants benefitted immensely from an incisive and thought-provoking discussion with the minister on his seminal book titled “The India Way: Strategies for an uncertain World”, the IAF added.

India will host the 2025 edition of the Badminton World Federation, BWF World Junior Championships at the National Centre of Excellence in Guwahati. According to the BWF president Poul-Erik Høyer, India’s production line of elite badminton talent is booming. It is of great significance for the BWF to bring the World Juniors to India for just the second time, he added. The dates for the event will be announced later.
The BWF World Junior Badminton Championships, 2025 will mark the return of the tournament to the India for the first time since 2008, when Pune hosted the event.

CHENNAI METRO
The US based industrial automation company Rockwell Automation on Tuesday said it would open a 98 thousand sq.ft manufacturing facility in Chennai in the first half of 2025 and would employ around 230 workers by the end of that year. The facility will be established at Sholinganallur Elcot special economic zone where its cubic manufacturing facility is located. The cubic specialises in modular enclosure systems for construction of power and electrical panels. Rockwell hopes this facility will make its supply chain more resilient in the Asia Pacific region and plans the facility with potential for expansion. Rockwell is investing in India by expanding its manufacturing presence and building a new factory in Chennai, the company said in the statement.

Greater Chennai Corporation will be setting up 200 gyms for women. The civic body’s Chief Engineer S.Rajendiran said that they were in the process of finalising locations accessible to lower income groups. The gyms will be located in areas accessible to both urban middle class and poor. It will have a treadmill, cycling, EFX machine and hydraulic weightlifting machines. It will also have dumbbells.

BENGALURU METRO
The Indian Institute of Science in Bengaluru has helped Bengaluru Water Supply Company BWSSB to produce zero bacteria processed water. The Institute has evolved a low cost indigenous technology to treat used water and make it zero bacteria after processing. Bangalore city discharges 1800 MLD of waste water everyday. Out of which, 1200 MLD waste water is treated by BWSSB on a daily basis using the technology developed by Indian Institute of Science. This treated water is used for non human utility like for gardens and vehicle wash. The Pollution Control Board has approved the zero bacteria water used for non human purpose. BWSSB has now the capacity to treat one crore litres of waste water every day by adopting the indigenous technology in its Agara, K C Valley and Bellandur Sewage Treatment plants. The zero bacteria treated water is supplied at nominal costs to Wipro IT company, HAL and other IT companies as air conditioning cooling agent, for cleaning factory floor and other industrial purposes. Due to acute shortage of drinking water in the Bengaluru city, BWSSB has adopted this mechanism to reduce Cauvery water supply for secondary usage of water.

In Telangana, several places witnessed scorching temperatures, with six locations recording highest maximum temperatures of above 46 degrees Celsius.
According to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS), the highest maximum temperature recorded in the State was 46.2 ° Celsius in Jaina in Jagtial district and Madugulapally in Nalgonda district. Allipur of Jagityal district recorded at 46.1 Degree Celsius, and Kolvai in the same district, Kothagattu in Karimnagar and Veenavanka in Karimnagar district recorded 46 degree celsius. Meanwhile, within the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation limits, the highest maximum temperature recorded at 43.5 Degrees Celsius in Kapra, trailed by 43.3 Degrees Celsius in Hafeezpet.

भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान-आईआईटी दिल्ली के प्रबंधन अध्ययन विभाग ने “एग्जीक्यूटिव एम.बी.ए.” नाम से नया शैक्षणिक कार्यक्रम शुरू करने की घोषणा की है। दो वर्ष की अवधि वाला यह कार्यक्रम जुलाई से शुरू होगा।
प्रबंधन अध्ययन विभाग ने बताया है कि यह कार्यक्रम उन अधिकारियों के लिए तैयार किया गया है, जिनके पास तीन वर्ष से अधिक का अनुभव है, और वे अपने ज्ञान तथा कौशल को बढ़ाना चाहते हैं। इस पाठ्यक्रम के लिए छात्र 31 मई तक आवेदन कर सकते हैं। पाठ्यक्रम की अधिक जानकारी के लिए विभाग के फोन नम्बर 0 1 1 – 2 6 5 9 7 0 3 4 पर संपर्क किया जा सकता है।
दिल्ली कोर्ट-सिसोदिया
दिल्ली राऊज एवेन्यू कोर्ट ने शराब नीति मामले से जुड़े मनी लॉन्ड्रिंग और भ्रष्टाचार के मामलों में दिल्ली के पूर्व उपमुख्यमंत्री और आम आदमी पार्टी नेता मनीष सिसोदिया द्वारा दायर की गई दूसरी जमानत याचिका खारिज कर दी।
दिल्ली- बीआर अंबेडकर विश्वविद्यालय
डॉ बी आर अंबेडकर विश्वविद्यालय – एयूडी ने आज शैक्षणिक वर्ष 2024-25 के स्नातक और स्नातकोत्तर दाखिलों के लिए एडमिशन ब्रोशर जारी किया। नए शैक्षणिक सत्र के अंतर्गत पाठ्यक्रमों की जानकारी देते हुए विश्वविद्यालय की कुलपति प्रोफेसर अनु सिंह लाठर ने बताया की इस बार स्नातकोत्तर स्तर पर पब्लिक पॉलिसी एंड गवर्नेंस नाम से नया पाठ्यक्रम शुरू किया जा रहा है, जिसके लिए 60 सीटें निर्धारित की गईं हैं। इसके अलावा पीएचडी के 23 पाठ्यक्रमों में दाखिले भी जून में शुरू किये जायेंगे।

महाराष्ट्र के 65वें स्थापना दिवस पर राज्यपाल रमेश बैस मुंबई में ध्वजारोहण करेंगे
महाराष्ट्र राज्य के 65वें स्थापना दिवस के मौके पर राज्यपाल रमेश बैस आज सुबह मुंबई के दादर स्थित छत्रपति शिवाजी महाराज मैदान में झंडा फहराएंगे. इसके बाद राज्यपाल रात 8.40 बजे मुंबई में शिवाजी पार्क के पास क्रीड़ा भवन में बृहन्मुंबई नगर निगम द्वारा आयोजित महाराष्ट्र दिवस समारोह में भाग लेंगे। इस अवसर पर राज्य भर में कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए जाएंगे
बृहमुंबई नगर निगम (बीएमसी) ने मराठी नेमप्लेट नहीं लगाने वाली 625 दुकानों और प्रतिष्ठानों के खिलाफ कार्रवाई की और उनसे कुल 50 लाख रुपये का जुर्माना वसूला गया. सुप्रीम कोर्ट के निर्देशों के मुताबिक, बृहन्मुंबई नगर निगम के अधिकार क्षेत्र में आने वाली दुकानों और प्रतिष्ठानों पर मराठी भाषा, देवनागरी लिपि में मोटे अक्षरों में नाम बोर्ड लगाना अनिवार्य है।
बृहमुंबई नगर निगम (बीएमसी) ने कल घोषणा की कि पर्यावरण-अनुकूल गणेश उत्सव को बढ़ावा देने के उद्देश्य से नागरिक निकाय श्री गणेश की मूर्तियां बनाने वाले मूर्ति निर्माताओं को ‘पहले आओ, पहले पाओ’ के आधार पर शादू मिट्टी और जगह उपलब्ध कराएगा।

एक आतंकवादी संगठन ने राजभवन, भारतीय संग्रहालय और कोलकाता के अन्य महत्वपूर्ण स्थानों पर विस्फोट करने का दावा किया है। कोलकाता पुलिस ने शहर में सुरक्षा कड़ी कर दी है. एक ईमेल भेजकर लोगों को आतंकित करने की धमकी दी गई है और पुलिस ईमेल के आईपी एड्रेस की जांच कर रही है. मेट्रो रेल स्टेशनों के आसपास भी सुरक्षा बढ़ा दी गई है. राज्य सचिवालय नबन्ना में नियंत्रण कक्ष भी खोला गया है।

राष्ट्रीय राजधानी दिल्ली में आंशिक रूप से बादल छाए रहेंगे। तापमान 26 से 35 डिग्री सेल्सियस के बीच रहने की संभावना है।
मुम्बई में मौसम साफ रहेगा। न्यूनतम तापमान 28 और अधिकतम 31 डिग्री सेल्सियस के आसपास रहने का अनुमान है।
कोलकाता में भी आसमान साफ रहेगा। वहीं बात करें तापमान की तो न्यूनतम तापमान 31 और अधिकतम 40 डिग्री सेल्सियस तक जा सकता है।

आज 1 मई। यानी मजदूर दिवस, मई दिवस और इंटरनेशनल लेबर डे भी। अब इसकी भी एक वजह है। 1886 में 1 मई को ही अमेरिका के शिकागो शहर में हजारों मजदूरों ने एकजुटता दिखाते हुए प्रदर्शन किया था। उनकी मांग थी कि मजदूरी का समय 8 घंटे निर्धारित किया जाए और हफ्ते में एक दिन छुट्टी हो। इससे पहले मजदूरों के लिए कोई समय-सीमा नहीं थी। उनके लिए कोई नियम-कायदे ही नहीं होते थे। लगातार 15-15 घंटे काम लिया जाता था।

- 1960 में गुजरात और महाराष्ट्र का गठन 1960 में बॉम्बे स्टेट से अलग होकर दो नए राज्य गुजरात और महाराष्ट्र बने। इस दिन को महाराष्ट्र में ‘महाराष्ट्र दिवस’ और गुजरात में ‘गुजरात दिवस’ के रूप में मनाया जाता है। दरअसल, यह दोनों ही राज्य काफी संघर्ष के बाद बने थे। 1956 में राज्य पुनर्गठन अधिनियम के तहत भाषाई आधार पर राज्यों का बंटवारा हुआ। कन्नड़ भाषी लोगों के लिए कर्नाटक राज्य बनाया गया, तो तेलुगु बोलने वालों के लिए आंध्र प्रदेश। इसी तरह मलयालम भाषियों को केरल और तमिल बोलने वालों को तमिलनाडु मिला। इससे बॉम्बे स्टेट में भी अलग राज्य की मांग उठने लगी। इस प्रांत में मराठी और गुजराती दोनों भाषाएं बोली जाती थीं। दोनों भाषा बोलने वालों ने अलग राज्य की मांग के साथ आंदोलन शुरू कर दिया। अपनी मांगों को लेकर लोगों ने कई आंदोलन किए जिनमें ‘महा गुजरात आंदोलन’ हुआ। वहीं महाराष्ट्र की मांग के लिए महाराष्ट्र समिति का गठन किया गया। आखिरकार 1 मई 1960 को तत्कालीन नेहरू सरकार ने इस प्रांत को महाराष्ट्र और गुजरात में बांटा।

बलराज साहनी हिंदी सिने जगत के वो अभिनेता थे, जिनकी गिनती बेहद प्रतिभाशाली और प्रभावशाली अभिनेताओं में होती है। उन्होंने आम आदमी की पीड़ा और समस्याओं को कई दफा फिल्मी पर्दे पर जुबान दे दी। अगर उनके निभाए किरदारों को बारीकी से देखें तो पता चलेगा कि वे दुनिया के किसी भी आम आदमी के चरित्र को पर्दे पर उतार सकते थे। बलराज साहनी का असली नाम युद्धिष्ठिर साहनी था। उनपर लिखी ‘द नॉन कन्फर्मिस्ट : मेमरीज ऑफ माई फादर बलराज साहनी’ किताब में वक्त और जिंदगी की अनकही बातों को उनकी जीवनी में बयान किया गया है। ये जीवनी बलराज साहनी के अभिनेता पुत्र परीक्षित साहनी ने लिखी है।
बलराज साहनी का जन्म 1 मई 1913 को पाकिस्तान में हुआ था। उन्होंने लाहौर यूनिवर्सिटी से इंग्लिश लिट्रेचर में अपनी मास्टर डिग्री की थी। इसके बाद वो अपने परिवार के व्यापार को संभालने के लिये रावलपिंडी चले गये थे। बाद वो बीबीसी लंदन हिंदी को ज्वाइन करने इंग्लैंड चले गये थे।
बलराज साहनी अपने बचपन का शौक पूरा करने के लिये ‘इंडियन प्रोग्रेसिव थियेटर एसोसियेशन’ (इप्टा) में शामिल हो गये थे। ‘इप्टा’ में वर्ष 1946 में उन्हें सबसे पहले नाटक ‘इंसाफ’ में अभिनय करने का मौका मिला। इसके साथ ही ख्वाजा अहमद अब्बास के निर्देशन में फिल्म ‘धरती के लाल’ में भी बलराज साहनी को बतौर अभिनेता काम करने का मौका मिला।
Balraj Sahni (born Yudhishthir Sahni; 1 May 1913 – 13 April 1973) was an Indian film and stage actor, who is best known for Dharti Ke Lal (1946), Do Bigha Zameen (1953), Chhoti Bahen (1959), Kabuliwala (1961), Waqt (1965) and Garam Hawa (1973). He was the brother of Bhisham Sahni, noted Hindi writer, playwright, and actor.
Sahni was always interested in acting, and started his acting career with the plays of the Indian People’s Theatre Association (IPTA). Incidentally, his wife Damayanti became well known as an IPTA actress much before Sahni made a name for himself in films. He started his film career in Bombay with the film Insaaf (1946), followed by Dharti Ke Lal directed by KA Abbas in 1946.

मन्ना डे
हिंदी म्यूजिक इंडस्ट्री में जब भी महान गायकों की बात आती है तो उनमें मोहम्मद रफी, किशोर कुमार, लता मंगेशकर के साथ मन्ना डे का नाम जरूर लिया जाता है। उनका जन्म 1 मई 1919 में कोलकाता के एक बंगाली परिवार में हुआ था। अपने सिंगिंग करियर में उन्होंने एक से बढ़कर एक सदाबहार गाने गाए हैं। बॉलीवुड में गाने की शुरुआत उन्होंने 1943 में आई फिल्म ‘तमन्ना’ से की थी। गाने की उनकी अनोखी शैली उन्हें बाकी गायकों से अलग करती थी। ‘लागा चुनरी में दाग’, ‘एक चतुर नार’ ‘बाबू समझो इशारे’ गाने से उनकी गायिकी का अंदाजा लगाया जा सकता है। पांच दशकों के अपने सुरीले करियर में उन्होंने बंगाली, गुजराती, मराठी, मलयालम, कन्नड़ और असमी भाषा में 3500 से ज्यादा गाने गाए।
कहा जाता है जब कोई गाना मोहम्मद रफी या किशोर कुमार जैसे महान सिंगर नहीं गा पाते थे तो संगीतकार सीधा मन्ना डे का पास अपना गाना लेकर पहुंच जाया करते थे।
मन्ना डे ने कृष्ण चंद्र डे और उस्ताद दाबिर खान से संगीत की तालीम ली थी। शास्त्रीय संगीत पर उनकी मजबूत पकड़ थी। उन्होंने कई सारे क्लासिकल और सेमी क्लासिकल गानों को अपनी आवाज दी है। इसके अलावा उन्होंने फिल्मों के लिए कई मजाकिया अंदाज के गाने भी गाए हैं जिसे आज भी लोग सुनना पसंद करते हैं
संगीत के क्षेत्र में ऊंचा मुकाम हासिल करने के बाद 90 के दशक में उन्होंने म्यूजिक इंडस्ट्री को अलविदा कह दिया। साल 1991 में आई फिल्म प्रहार के गाने ‘हमारी मुट्ठी में’ गाने में उन्होंने अंतिम बार अपनी आवाज दी थी।

Manna Dey is widely recognized as one of the most versatile and celebrated vocalists in the Hindi film industry, and is often acknowledged for his significant contributions to integrating Indian classical music into Hindi commercial cinema. As a musician, Dey is particularly acclaimed for incorporating Indian classical music elements into a pop musical framework, a contribution that played a pivotal role during the golden era of Hindi cinema.
Throughout his career spanning over five decades, Dey recorded a total of 3,047 songs. While the majority of his songs were in Bengali and Hindi, he showcased his singing prowess in 14 other Indian languages, including Bhojpuri, Punjabi, Assamese, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, and Chhattisgarhi. His musical zenith was observed during the mid-1950s to the 1970s
For his outstanding contributions to Indian music, Manna Dey received several prestigious accolades from the Government of India. He was honoured with the Padma Shri in 1971, followed by the Padma Bhushan in 2005 and the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 2007.

Mahalakshmi Menon, best known by her stage name Shobha (23 September 1962 – 1 May 1980), was an Indian actress best known for her work in Malayalam and Tamil films. At the age of 17, she won the National Film Award for Best Actress for her role in the 1979 Tamil film Pasi. She also received three Kerala State Film Awards: for Best Actress (1978), Best Supporting Actress (1977) and Best Child Artist (1971); and two Filmfare Awards South for Best Actress in Kannada (1978) and Tamil (1979) films.

Nirmala Deshpande (17 October 1929 – 1 May 2008) was a noted Indian social activist who had embraced Gandhi and philosophy. She devoted her adult life to the promotion of communal harmony and service to women, tribal people, and the dispossessed in India.
She was awarded Padma Vibhushan, the second highest civilian award of India in 2006 and was awarded Sitara-e-Imtiaz posthumously by Pakistan in 2010
Deshpande was a nominated member of Indian Rajya Sabha two times during August 1997- August 1997 and during 24 June 2004 to 2010. Her name was considered for the Indian Presidential position in 2007.
Deshpande received the Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award (2005) and the Padma Vibhushan title in 2006. She was a nominee for the Nobel peace prize in 2005.
