Prime Minister of Fiji, Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka, will be on a three day visit to India beginning today. He arrived in New Delhi this morning. Mr Rabuka was received by Minister of State for Education and Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region Sukanta Majumdar at the airport. The Fijian Prime Minister is accompanied by his spouse Sulueti Rabuka. The delegation include Minister of Health and Medical Services, Ratu Atonio Lalabalavu and senior officials.

External Affairs Ministry said in a statement that this is the first visit to India by Prime Minister Rabuka in his present capacity. During his visit to New Delhi, the Fiji Prime Minister is scheduled to hold talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow. He will also call on President Droupadi Murmu.

India’s Department of Posts under the Ministry of Communications has decided to temporarily suspend all postal articles to the United States from 25th of this month. The decision came following an Executive Order by the US government under which the duty-free exemption for goods valued up to 800 dollars will be withdrawn with effect from 29th of this month. The Ministry of Communications said in a release that all international postal items destined for the US, regardless of their value, shall be subject to customs duties as per the country-specific International Emergency Economic Power Act tariff framework. However, gift items up to 100 dollars shall continue to remain exempt from duties.

Department of Posts is closely monitoring the evolving situation in coordination with all stakeholders, and every effort is being made to normalize services at the earliest possible opportunity.

The Valedictory Function for the fourth Naval Helicopter Flying Instructors’ Course was held at INS Rajali, marking the graduation of two naval helicopter pilots as Qualified Flying Instructors (QFIs) from the Helicopter Training School. Commodore Kapil Mehta, Commanding Officer, INS Rajali, awarded the prestigious QFI badges to the officers. The 22-week course included intensive ground and flying training, focusing on combining theoretical knowledge with practical instruction skills. Commodore Mehta praised INAS 561’s role in shaping future naval aviators and urged the new QFIs to uphold naval traditions and serve as role models for aspiring pilots.

Nilgiri district has become one of the first in the country to receive operational landslide forecast bulletins during the 2025 southwest monsoon. Issued by the Geological Survey of India (GSI) under the LANDSLIP Project, the bulletins are part of a prototype early warning system for landslides. With 6% of Tamil Nadu highly prone to landslides and 19% at moderate risk, GSI is now providing forecasts for 21 districts across eight states.

Telangana State Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Senior Citizens and Transgender persons, will be conducting a state-level camp to provide transgender persons in the state with a certificate of identity.

The camp will be held on Tuesday in Hyderabad. Transgender persons across the state can avail a ‘Transgender Certificate of Identity’ and Aadhar services at the camp during the working hours on the day. The Transgender certificate and identity card are nationally recognised and provided by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. The certificate is a mandatory document to avail the welfare measures being provided under the SMILE scheme.

श्रोताओ अब वक्त है कि इतिहास की किताब को खोला जाये और आपका बतायें की आज का दिन 24 अगस्त क्यों खास है और आज के दिन कौन सी बड़ी घटनाएं हुई थी।

 

• 1600 – East India Company’s first ship ‘HECTOR’ reached at Surat Port.
• 1608 में 24 अगस्त के दिन कैप्टन हॉकिन्स के नेतृत्व में अंग्रेजों का पहला जहाजी बेड़ा ‘हेक्टर’ भारत पहुंचा। उस समय मुगल बादशाह जहांगीर का शासन था । दरअसल 15वीं शताब्दी में यूरोप में कुछ ऐसी घटनाएं हुईं, जिनकी वजह से भारत और पूर्व के देशों के प्रति यूरोपीय देशों में आकर्षण बढ़ा। इसी क्रम में पहले पुर्तगालियों का और फिर डच व्यापारियों का भारत में आगमन हुआ और उन्होंने परस्पर व्यापार को बढ़ावा दिया। 1608 में 24 अगस्त के दिन कैप्टन हॉकिन्स के नेतृत्व में अंग्रेजों का पहला जहाजी बेड़ा ‘हेक्टर’ भारत पहुंचा। उस समय मुगल बादशाह जहांगीर का शासन था । कहने को तो यह एक सामान्य सी घटना थी और इससे पहले भी व्यापार के लिए जहाजी बेड़े यहां से वहां आते जाते थे, लेकिन इतिहास की इस एक घटना ने भारत के मस्तक पर अंग्रेजों की गुलामी की काली रेखा खींच दी.

• 2006 : अंतरराष्ट्रीय खगोलीय संघ ने प्लूटो (यम) का ग्रह का दर्जा समाप्त किया।
• 1969 – Varahagiri Venkata Giri became the fourth President of India

1997 – दीप्ति शर्मा – भारत की महिला क्रिकेटर।

आज  राइट-आर्म की मध्यम गति की गेंदबाज भारतीय क्रिकटर दीप्ति भगवान शर्मा का जन्मदिन है। आज ही के दिन  24 अगस्त, 1997, सहारनपुर, उत्तर प्रदेश में  में उनका जन्म हुआ।  2014 में दक्षिण अफ़्रीका के साथ उन्होंने ओडीआई में उन्होंने अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट में अपना पहला प्रदर्शन किया था। दीप्ती शर्मा ने , २०१७ में आयरलैंड के साथ  एक दिवसीय अंतरराष्ट्रीय क्रिकेट में अपनी साथी क्रिकेटर पूनम राउत के साथ 320 रनों की ओपनिंग साझेदारी कर विश्व कीर्तिमान बनाया है। इसके साथ ही उन्होंने 188 रन बनाकर 12 साल पुराना भारतीय रिकॉर्ड भी तोड़ दिया।

आज प्रसिद्ध शास्त्रीय गायक बसवराज राजगुरु की जयंती है। बसवराज राजगुरु जिनका जन्म 24 अगस्त, 1917 को हुआ था, किराना घराने में शास्त्रीय संगीत में सर्वश्रेष्ठ थे (अंग्रेज़ी: Basavaraj Rajguru, जन्म- 24 अगस्त, 1917; मृत्यु- 1991) उन्हें  ‘हिंदुस्तानी संगीत का राजा’ कहा जाता है। पंडित मल्लिकार्जुन मंसूर और कुमार गंधर्व के साथ पंडित बसवराज राजगुरु ने संगीतकारों की धारवाड़ त्रिमूर्ति का गठन किया था। उन्हें कर्नाटक विश्वविद्यालय से कई पुरस्कार और मानद डॉक्टरेट की उपाधि मिली थी। बसवराज राजगुरु को लगभग 40 रागों का व्यापक ज्ञान था और उनके प्रदर्शनों की सूची में ग़ज़ल, ठुमरी और ख्याल शामिल थे।

1908 – राजगुरु – स्वतंत्रता सेनानी

आज प्रदिद्ध क्रन्तिकारी शिव  हरि राजगुरु की जयंती है।   (अंग्रेज़ी: Rajguru; जन्म- 24 अगस्त, 1908, पुणे, महाराष्ट्र; बलिदान- 23 मार्च, 1931, लाहौर) के खेड़ा नामक गाँव में हुआ था।शिव  हरि राजगुरु सरदार भगत सिंह और सुखदेव के घनिष्ठ मित्र थे। इस मित्रता को राजगुरु ने मृत्यु पर्यंत निभाया। देश की आजादी के लिए दिये गये राजगुरु के बलिदान ने इनका नाम भारतीय इतिहास में स्वर्ण अक्षरों में अंकित करवा दिया। राजगुरु, भगत सिंह और सुखदेव का बलिदान आज भी भारत के युवकों को प्रेरणा प्रदान करता है।

Louis Leo Prima (December 7, 1910 – August 24, 1978) was an American trumpeter, singer, entertainer, and bandleader. While rooted in New Orleans jazz, swing music, and jump blues, Prima touched on various genres throughout his career: he formed a seven-piece New Orleans–style jazz band in the late 1920s, fronted a swing combo in the 1930s and a big band group in the 1940s, helped to popularize jump blues in the late 1940s and early to mid 1950s, and performed frequently as a Vegas lounge act beginning in the 1950s.

From the 1940s through the 1960s, his music further encompassed early R&B and rock ‘n’ roll, boogie-woogie, and Italian folk music, such as the tarantella.

Prima is also known for providing the voice for the orangutan King Louie in the 1967 Disney film The Jungle Book.

Gary Evan Crosby (June 27, 1933 – August 24, 1995) was an American actor and singer.He entered the entertainment business and performed in a harmony singing group, the Crosby Boys, with his three brothers, Philip, Lindsay, and Dennis, during the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. As a teenager, he duetted with his father on two songs, “Sam’s Song” and “Play a Simple Melody”, which became the first double-sided gold record in history.

SONG: Bing and Gary Crosby’s rendition of “Play A Simple Melody” is a joy to hear, a feast for the ear! It was a million-selling top ten hit for Bing and Gary Crosby in 1950.

बलवंत देवधर

आज प्रसिद्ध भारतीय क्रिकेटर दिनकर बलवंत देवधर की पुण्‍यतिथि है। (अंग्रेज़ी: Dinkar Balwant Deodhar, जन्म- 14 जनवरी, 1892; मृत्यु- 24 अगस्त, 1993) बलवंत देवधर भारतीय क्रिकेट खिलाड़ी महाराष्ट्र से थे। भारत में प्रसिद्ध फस्‍ट क्लास क्रिकेट में 50 ओवर के क्रिकेट टूर्नामेंट का नाम ‘देवधर’ के नाम पर रखा गया था। दिनकर बलवंत देवधर को भारतीय क्रिकेट का ग्रैंड ओल्ड मैन कहा जाता था, शायद यही कारण था कि उन्होंने रणजी ट्रॉफी सीज़न 1940 में 48 साल की उम्र में 246 रन बनाए थे। साल 1991 में भारत सरकार ने दिनकर बलवंत देवधर को ‘पद्म भूषण’ से सम्मानित किया था।

कल्‍याण जी

आज हिन्‍दी सिने जगत की संगीतकार जोडी कल्‍याण जी आनन्‍द जी के कल्‍याण जी की पुण्‍यतिथि है। इनका पूरा नाम था कल्याणजी वीरजी शाह । गुजरात में कच्छ के कुंडरोडी मे 30 जून 1928 को उनका जन्‍म हुआ था। उन्होंने किसी उस्ताद से संगीत की शिक्षा नही ली थी। लेकिन अपने सपने को पूरा करने के लिये मुंबई आ गये और संगीतकार हेमंत कुमार के सहायक के तौर पर काम करने लगे।

संगीतकार के रूप  में सबसे पहले वर्ष 1958 मे फिल्‍म ‘सम्राट चंद्रगुप्त’में कल्याण जी को संगीत देने का मौका मिला। 1960 मे उन्होंने अपने छोटे भाई आनंद जी को भी मुंबई बुला लिया। इसके बाद कल्याणजी ने आंनद जी के साथ मिलकर फिल्मों मे संगीत देना शुरू किया।
वर्ष 1970 मे विजय आनंद निर्देशित फिल्म ‘जानी मेरा नाम’ में ‘नफरत करने वालो के सीने मे प्यार भर दू’, ‘ पल भर के लिये कोई मुझे प्यार कर ले’ जैसे रूमानी संगीत देकर कल्याणजी-आंनद जी ने श्रोताओं का दिल जीत लिया।मनमोहन देसाई के निर्देशन में फिल्म ‘सच्चा-झूठा’ के लिये कल्याणजी-आनंद जी ने बेमिसाल संगीत दिया।

‘मेरी प्यारी बहनियां बनेगी दुल्हनियां’ को आज भी शादी के मौके पर सुना जा सकता है। कल्याणजी ने अपने सिने कैरियर मे लगभग 250 फिल्मों को संगीतबद्ध किया।

वर्ष 1992 मे संगीत के क्षेत्र मे बहुमूल्य योगदान को देखते हुये वह पद्मश्री से सम्मानित किये गये।लगभग चार दशक तक अपने जादुई संगीत से श्रोताओं को भावविभोर करने वाले कल्याण जी 24 अगस्त 2000 को इस दुनिया को अलविदा कह गये ।
