External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar held talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi in New Delhi yesterday. In his opening remarks during the meeting, Dr Jaishankar stressed on three mutuals, respect, sensitivity and interest to move ahead from difficult period in bilateral ties.
The talks covered economic and trade issues, pilgrimages, people to people contacts, river data sharing, border trade, connectivity and bilateral exchanges. Dr Jaishankar said, the Chinese Foreign Minister will also be discussing border issues with Special Representative and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval today. He added that this is very important because the basis for any positive momentum in the bilateral ties is the ability to jointly maintain peace and tranquility in the border areas. He said, it is also essential that the de escalation process moves forward. The Chinese Foreign Minister arrived in New Delhi yesterday on a two-day visit to India.

National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has taken strict action against the toll collection agency for misbehaving with Army personnel on toll plaza deployed at Bhuni Toll Plaza on Meerut-Karnal. NHAI has imposed a penalty of 20 lakhs on the toll collecting firm.
In a statement, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways called it a breach of the contract agreement and the agency’s failure to manage the situation and ensure staff discipline. Further, NHAI has initiated the process of terminating and debarring the toll collection firm from future participation in toll plaza abides.

US President Donald Trump has announced that he will arrange face-to-face talks between the Russian and Ukrainian presidents to help end the war in Ukraine. On his Truth Social platform, Trump said that he spoke with Russian President Vladimir Putin after hosting Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other European leaders at the White House last night. US President said, he has begun the arrangements for a meeting between President Putin and Ukrainian leader Zelenskyy, at a location to be determined. Trump said that the Putin-Zelenskyy talks would be followed by a trilateral summit involving himself and his two counterparts. He said, Vice president JD Vance, secretary of state Marco Rubio, and special envoy Steve Witkoff are coordinating with Moscow and Kyiv in this regard. During his meeting with Zelenskyy and European leaders, Trump took a small break to call Putin. Putin told Trump of his readiness to meet Zelenskyy.

On 19 August 2003, a bomb attack on the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq, killed 22 humanitarian aid workers, including the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq, Sergio Vieira de Mello.
This year the message is clear: the humanitarian system is stretched to its limits; underfunded, overwhelmed and under attack.
In 2024 alone over 380 humanitarian workers were killed. Some in the line of duty, others in their homes. Hundreds more have been injured, kidnapped or detained, and there is reason to fear 2025 could be worse.

अब्दुल राशिद ख़ान (अंग्रेज़ी: Abdul Rashid Khan जन्म: 19 अगस्त 1908 – मृत्यु: 18 फ़रवरी 2016) प्रसिद्ध हिंदुस्तानी शास्त्रीय गायक थे। ये ग्वालियर घराने से थे। इन्हें पद्मभूषण (2013), संगीत नाटक अकादमी पुरस्कार (2009) आदि से नवाजा जा चुका है।
अब्दुल राशिद ख़ान का जन्म 19 अगस्त, 1908 को रायबरेली, उत्तर प्रदेश में हुआ था। उन्हें वर्ष 2013 में पद्मभूषण से सम्मानित किया गया था। उस्ताद अब्दुल राशिद ख़ान ग्वालियर घराने से जुड़े थे। अब्दुल राशिद ख़ान लगभग 20 वर्ष तक आईटीसी संगीत अनुसंधान अकादमी से जुड़े रहे। वे 105 वर्ष की उम्र में पद्मभूषण (2013) पाने वाले सबसे उम्रदराज व्यक्ति थे।
