Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a day-long visit to Karnataka today. During the visit, Mr Modi will flag off three Vande Bharat Express trains at KSR Railway Station in Bengaluru. It includes trains from Bengaluru to Belagavi, Amritsar to Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Nagpur (Ajni) to Pune. Thereafter, he will flag off Yellow line of Bangalore metro and undertake a metro ride from RV Road, Ragigudda to Electronic City metro station. The Prime Minister will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of urban connectivity projects in Bengaluru and address a public function. Mr Modi will lay the foundation stone of Bangalore Metro Phase-3 project worth over 15 thousand 610 crore rupees. The total route length of the project will be more than 44 kilometres with 31 elevated stations. More from our correspondent:

 

“Vande Bharat service to be dedicated by the Prime Minister today will provide a comfortable travel option to those travelling to Belagavi in North Karnataka. Vande Bharat service to Belagavi was very eagerly awaited by the railway passengers as it will reduce travel time between the two cities. Another important project is related to the Metro Yellow line connecting Electronic city, where top IT BT companies have their headquarters. This line will also ease traffic on Hosur road that takes us to Tamilnadu. निर्वाचन आयोग ने कहा कि उसने देश के विभिन्न राज्यों और केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों के 334 पंजीकृत गैर-मान्यता प्राप्त राजनीतिक दलों को सूची से हटा दिया है। ये दल 2019 से छह वर्षों तक एक भी चुनाव लड़ने की अनिवार्य शर्त पूरी करने में विफल रहे हैं। इन दलों के कार्यालयों का भी कोई अता पता नहीं है।

The Sikkim government has taken elaborate steps to celebrate Har Ghar Tiranga initiative with full of enthusiasm. Senior officials in the Culture department who is the nodal agency to implement the program in Sikkim, informed that 1 lakh national flag to be distributed among citizens. The Culture department will hand over the tricolour to district administrations so that they can distribute amongst residence. On 12th of August, Tiranga rally to be held from M G Marg at Gangtok in presence of Governor and Chief Minister. There will be an exhibition at M G Marg on that highlighting multiple themes. Later, a cultural concert to be organised at Manan Kendra with full of patriotic enthusiasm. Apart from Gangtok city, Tiranga rallies and cultural programs are also being held at other districts too.

Bangladesh’s Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin has said that the upcoming 13th Jatiya Sangsad (National Parliament) elections will be held in the first half of February next year. He said, the schedule may be announced in early December, two months before the elections.Talking to reporters, he said the Commission is actively coordinating with divisional and local election officials to ensure smooth holding of the polls.

The Indian Women’s team stormed into Semi Finals with superb performances converted into victories in Asia Rugby Under-20 Championship Sevens, being played at Rajgir in Bihar. After defeating Kazakhstan in their first match the Indian girls thrashed UAE team in the second clash. The result ensured a semi-final berth before the team’s final pool match of  the day against Hong Kong China. On the host side the men’s team led by Sumit Kumar Rai, failed to impress with their performances despite having good supports of fans at home ground in Rajgir. The boys team will now face Kazakhstan in the race to finish fifth.

Heavy rains lashed several parts of Hyderabad last evening in late hours with several areas including Vanasthalipuram, Hayathnagar areas receiving very heavy rainfall over 100 mm during an 2 hours. Many areas in the old city including Nampally received the highest of 124.8 mm rainfall till early this morning. Khaiaratabad received over 120 mm and Charminar received 112.5 mm of rainfall. This is the third time during this month that rains in Hyderabad have crossed over 100 mm. Several areas marooned and low lying areas stormed with rainwater. Meanwhile, Met officials have warned of heavy rains for the next few days in several parts of Telangana.

The Bengaluru Traffic police have made arrangements for the traffic management during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. The traffic police have imposed traffic restrictions in the city. During the visit of the Prime Minister, the Silk Board to Hosur elevated expressway and roads connecting the Electronics city will be closed. Those moving towards Hosur are advised to take the Jigani road from Bommasandra circle. The vehicles using Jayadeva hospital junction are advised to take left near Banashankari bus stand and move towards Sarakki market. There will be restrictions at East End circle and the vehicles will only be allowed on 29th main road and 9th cross junction to reach Dalmia junction.

राष्ट्रीय राजधानी क्षेत्र में दक्षिण-पूर्वी ज़िले के जैतपुर के पास एक दीवार ढह जाने से सात लोगों की मौत हो गई। मृतकों में प्रवासी श्रमिक शामिल हैं। सूचना के बाद दिल्ली पुलिस, दमकल विभाग और राष्ट्रीय आपदा मोचन बल के जवान मौके पर पहुंचे और मलबे से लोगों को निकाला गया। सभी घायलों को एम्स ट्रॉमा सेंटर और सफदरजंग अस्पताल ले जाया गया जहां इलाज के दौरान सात लोगों की मौत हो गई।

 

नई दिल्‍ली स्थित भारत मंडपम में चल रहे दिल्ली पुस्तक मेले के कल चौथे दिन बारिश के बावजूद भी लोगों की भीड देखी गई। मेले में विविध विषयों पर भारतीय पुस्तकों का एक विशाल संग्रहालय प्रस्तुत है। यह मेला व्यावसायिक लेन-देन, नए संपर्क स्थापित करने, सह-प्रकाशन व्यवस्था, अनुवाद तथा कॉपीराइट व्यवस्था, और पुरानी दुर्लभ पुस्तकों के पुनर्मुद्रण के लिए एक अनूठा मंच प्रदान करता है। इस दौरान कई सम्मेलन, पुस्तक विमोचन और लेखकों से भेंट करने के कार्यक्रम भी आयोजित हो रहे हैं।

मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस ने कहा कि महाराष्ट्र सरकार महिला सशक्तिकरण के प्रयासों के तहत राज्य में एक करोड़ “लखपति दीदी” बनाने का लक्ष्य रखती है। उन्होंने कहा कि पिछले साल 25 लाख लखपति दीदी बनाई गई थीं और इस साल भी उनका इरादा 25 लाख और बनाने का है। नवंबर 2024 के विधानसभा चुनावों में महायुति की सत्ता बरकरार रखने में महिलाओं के समर्थन का श्रेय देते हुए, मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि भाइयों को अपनी बहनों को सशक्त बनाने का संकल्प लेना चाहिए ताकि वे अपनी और अपने परिवार की रक्षा कर सकें। “लखपति दीदी” केंद्र सरकार द्वारा स्वयं सहायता समूह (एसएचजी) के उस सदस्य के लिए गढ़ा गया शब्द है जिसकी वार्षिक घरेलू आय 1 लाख रुपये या उससे अधिक हो। महाराष्ट्र में देश में सबसे अधिक स्वयं सहायता समूह हैं और 10 जिलों में मॉल स्थापित किए जाएँगे जहाँ उनके द्वारा बनाए गए उत्पाद बेचे जाएँगे।

 

उत्तराखंड के उत्तरकाशी जिले के धराली क्षेत्र में भीषण भूस्खलन और अचानक आई बाढ़ के बाद फंसे महाराष्ट्र के 172 पर्यटकों में से 171 पर्यटकों के उत्तराखंड में सुरक्षित होने की पुष्टि हो गई है। एक लापता पर्यटक, श्रीमती कृतिका जैन, की तलाश जारी है। राज्य आपातकालीन परिचालन केंद्र के अनुसार, मातली, जॉली ग्रांट और उत्तरकाशी जैसे स्थानों पर 160 पर्यटक सुरक्षित हैं। उनमें से कई ने अपने मूल यात्रा कार्यक्रम के अनुसार अपनी यात्रा फिर से शुरू कर दी है। हर्षिल में फंसे 11 पर्यटक भी सुरक्षित हैं।

आरजी कर मेडिकल कॉलेज की पीजीटी डॉक्टर, के साथ दुष्कर्म और हत्या मामले में न्याय की मांग करते हुए शनिवार को राज्य सचिवालय ‘नबन्ना मार्च’ के संबंध में कथित अत्याचारों के आलोक में भाजपा विधायक अशोक डिंडा के खिलाफ एक एफआईआर सहित छह एफआईआर दर्ज की गई हैं। पुलिस ने कहा कि प्रदर्शनकारियों ने शांतिपूर्ण विरोध प्रदर्शन के कलकत्ता उच्च न्यायालय के आदेश का पालन नहीं किया। एक बड़ी घटना में पीड़िता की माँ पर पुलिस द्वारा कथित तौर पर लाठीचार्ज और मारपीट की गई, जिसे अधिकारियों ने नकार दिया।

Chennai is expected to have a generally cloudy sky with Light rain. The minimum temperature was 25 degree Celsius and maximum will be around 33 degree.

Bengaluru is expected to have a generally cloudy sky with moderate rain. The minimum temperature was 21 degree Celsius and maximum will be around 28 degree.

Hyderabad is expected to have a generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers. The temperature will hover between minimum of 23 degree and a maximum of 31 degree Celsius.

WORLD LION DAY

 

World Lion Day is annually observed today that is 10th of August to celebrate the life of the ‘King Of The Jungle’. It is celebrated to raise awareness about the conservation and protection of lions. It’s a day to acknowledge the ecological importance of lions as a keystone species and to address the threats they face, such as habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and poaching. World Lion Day was established to bring global attention to the declining number of lions and the urgent need for their conservation. While lions captivate us with their strength and magnificence, their population has been dwindling due to various threats such as habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and poaching.

-Known as the “King of the Jungle,” lions live in grasslands and plains, not jungles.

-Male lions patrol their territories regularly.
-Lions prefer to hunt at night, making it easier to catch prey.

Gujarat is marking a major milestone in the conservation of the majestic Asiatic lion. The Barda Wildlife Sanctuary, near Porbandar, has emerged as a beacon of ecological restoration and community-driven progress. As Gujarat’s Lion Census of 2025 records a historic 891 lions statewide, Barda leads the way in expanding habitats beyond Gir. More from our correspondent:

 

“Once a secondary habitat, Barda Wildlife Sanctuary now flourishes with 17 lions and 25 leopards, reflecting years of ecological restoration and scientific management. The Forest Department’s use of radio collars and real-time tracking technology has made lion conservation more effective than ever before. Community participation, especially by local Maldhari pastoralists, has made conservation truly inclusive and citizen-centric. Visitor amenities such as parking, lounges, and sanitation facilities has enhanced comfort and accessibility, and encouraged eco-tourism growth in the region. With 891 lions now in Gujarat and over half outside Gir, Project Lion’s habitat expansion has set new benchmarks for sustainable wildlife management. WORLD BIOFUEL DAY

 

Every year on August 10, World Biofuel Day is observed to underline the significance of biofuels as a sustainable source of energy. The day also commemorates the successful operation of an engine on peanut oil by German engineer Sir Rudolf Diesel. Biofuels are fuels produced from organic matter, or biomass, like plants and algae. They are considered a renewable energy source because they can be replenished, unlike fossil fuels. Biofuels can be used in place of or alongside traditional fossil fuels for transportation, heating, and electricity generation.

प्रेम अदीब (अंग्रेज़ी Prem Adib; जन्म- 10 अगस्त, 1916, सुल्तानपुर; मृत्यु- 25 दिसम्बर, 1959, मुम्बई) भारतीय सिनेमा के अभिनेता थे। प्रेम अदीब को राम के रूप में उनकी भूमिका के लिए याद किया जाता है। सीता बनीं शोभना समर्थ के साथ परदे पर राम की भूमिका में नज़र आते थे। दिल छू लेने वाले अभिनय ने इन्हें न सिर्फ फ़िल्म जगत् में एक विशेष स्थान दिलाया बल्कि सदा के लिए अमर कर दिया।प्रेम अदीब ने 1941 में प्रदर्शित हुई फ़िल्म ‘दर्शन’ के साथ ही एंट्री ‘प्रकाश पिक्चर्स’ में हुई। ‘घूंघटवाली’ (1938), ‘सागर मूवीटोन’ की ‘भोलेभाले’ और ‘साधना’ (1939), ‘हिंदुस्तान सिनेटोन’ की ‘सौभाग्य’ (1940) जैसी फ़िल्मों के साथ प्रेम अदीब के करियर का ग्राफ लगातार ऊपर उठता चला गया।

He became the first Indian maleshuttler in 36 years to win a bronze medal in the BWF World Championships in 2019 after Prakash Padukone in 1983. Sai Praneeth was honoured withthe Arjuna Award in 2019. His maternal aunt was a national levelbadminton player.

श्यामलाल गुप्त ‘पार्षद’ (अंग्रेज़ी: Shyamlal Gupta ‘Parshad’, जन्म: 16 सितम्बर 1893; मृत्य: 10 अगस्त, 1977) भारतीय स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के एक सेनानी, पत्रकार, समाजसेवी एवं अध्यापक थे। श्यामलाल गुप्त ‘पार्षद’, भारतीय स्वतन्त्रता संग्राम के दौरान उत्प्रेरक झण्डा गीत ‘विजयी विश्व तिरंगा प्यारा’ के रचयिता थे। कानपुर का नर्वल कस्बा झंडागीत के रचनाकार श्याम लाल गुप्त ‘पार्षद’ की ऐतिहासिक स्मृतियों की सुगंध से आज भी महकता है. पार्षद जी के रिश्तेदार बताते हैं कि उनको रामायण पूरी तरह कंठस्थ थी।

हरिशंकर परसाई (अंग्रेज़ी: Harishankar Parsai, जन्म- 22 अगस्त, 1922, होशंगाबाद, मध्य प्रदेश; मृत्यु- 10 अगस्त, 1995, जबलपुर) हिंदी के प्रसिद्ध लेखक और व्यंग्यकार थे। ये हिंदी के पहले रचनाकार थे, जिन्होंने व्यंग्य को विधा का दर्जा दिलाया और उसे हल्के-फुल्के मनोरंजन की परंपरागत परिधि से उबारकर समाज के व्यापक प्रश्नों से जोड़ा। उनकी व्यंग्य रचनाएँ हमारे मन में गुदगुदी ही पैदा नहीं करतीं, बल्कि हमें उन सामाजिक वास्तविकताओं के आमने-सामने खड़ा करती हैं, जिनसे किसी भी व्यक्ति का अलग रह पाना लगभग असंभव है। लगातार खोखली होती जा रही हमारी सामाजिक और राजनीतिक व्यवस्था में पिसते मध्यमवर्गीय मन की सच्चाइयों को हरिशंकर परसाई ने बहुत ही निकटता से पकड़ा है। सामाजिक पाखंड और रूढ़िवादी जीवन-मूल्यों की खिल्ली उड़ाते हुए उन्होंने सदैव विवेक और विज्ञान सम्मत दृष्टि को सकारात्मक रूप में प्रस्तुत किया है। उनकी भाषा-शैली में एक ख़ास प्रकार का अपनापन नज़र आता है।
