Bihar today become the first state in the country to launch e-Voting facilities using mobile applications in municipal bodies elections and by polls which are underway in the state. More than 40,000 voters have registered to cast their votes through e-Voting applications. Polling is taking place in Six Nagar Panchayat and 36 different other municipal bodies. Voting began at 7 am and will conclude by 5 pm on 489 polling booths established in different municipal bodies. For e-Voting, voters can cast their votes from till 1 pm from their homes. State Election Commissioner Deepak Prasad called it a historic day. The State Election Commissioner said it will be helpful to those who are facing challenges in reaching the polling booths on the day of polling.

India has rejected a ruling issued by the so-called Court of Arbitration on the Kishenganga and Ratle hydroelectric projects situated in Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. In a statement, the External Affairs Ministry dismissed the supplemental award given by the illegal Court of Arbitration purportedly constituted under the Indus Waters Treaty 1960.
The Ministry said, India has never recognised the legal validity of this Court of Arbitration terming its constitution a serious breach of the Indus Waters Treaty.
The Ministry said, Indus Waters Treaty has been placed in abeyance by the country after the Pahalgam terrorist attack. The decision was taken in view of Pakistan’s support to cross-border terrorism. The External Affairs Ministry said this latest charade at Pakistan’s behest is yet another desperate attempt by it to escape accountability for its role as the global epicenter of terrorism.

“मझगांव डॉक शिप बिल्डर द्वारा कोलंबो डॉकयार्ड का अधिग्रहण भारत और श्रीलंका दोनों के लिए एक रणनीतिक उपलब्धि है। भारत के लिए ये हिंद महासागर में समुद्री प्रभाव को मजबूत करने के साथ-साथ शिप बिल्डिंग और मरम्मत क्षमता का विस्तार करता है। वहीं, श्रीलंका के साथ आर्थिक व कूटनीतिक संबंधों को भी बढ़ता है। यह समझौता मझगांव डॉक को अंतरराष्ट्रीय शिपिंग रूट्स पर सेवाएं देने के लिए एक प्रमुख स्थान तक पहुंचा देता है और वहीं, भारत में इसकी सुविधाएं रक्षा परियोजनाओं के लिए खाली हो सकेगी। श्रीलंका के लिए ये कर्ज में डूबी एक महत्वपूर्ण संपत्ति को बचाते हुए 3000 से अधिक नौकरियों को सुरक्षित करता है और निवेशकों के भरोसे को मजबूत बनाता है साथ ही यह सौदा श्रीलंका के समुद्री क्षेत्र में भारत की रणनीतिक उपस्थिति को बढ़ाता है। जहां चीन पहले से हम्बनटोटा बंदरगाह में अपने निवेश के जरिए मजबूत स्थिति बन चुका है। अहमद मोईन फारूकी, आकाशवाणी समाचार, कोलंबो।”

IIT Madras Zanzibar has launched a new Bachelor of Science program in Chemical Process Engineering for the academic year 2025-26. This four year full time undergraduate degree program in the zanzibar campus is open to candidates of all Nationalities including Indians. The program offers a comprehensive curriculum blending core chemical engineering fundamentals with practical lab work , industry aligned projects, and electives that encourage inter disciplinary learning. The last date to apply is the 6th of July 2025. IIT M Zanzibar is the first ever international campus of an IIT . The Bengaluru electricity company BESCOM has made it mandatory for all the new and temporary electricity connections in rural areas to instal the smart meter from July 1st. The decision is based on the direction of Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission. In urban areas smart meters have been installed since February 15th this year. Now even the rural areas applying for power line connections will get the smart meters. The applicants for the power line can purchase smart meters from BESCOM authorised outlets and proceed with the formalities. The users can monitor real time electricity usage, voltage and power factor through a mobile app and access recharge options.

Telangana State government is planning to set up a welfare board for gig workers. State Labour and Employment minister Vivek Venkataswamy announced this in Hyderabad yesterday. He said a draft Gig Workers Bill will be sent to the state Cabinet very soon. The minister held a high-level stakeholder consultation meeting attended by various unions, platform companies, experts, and worker representatives. The government is also contemplating to create a welfare fund with contributions to be made from platform companies, the government and the workers.

दिल्ली नगर निगम ने संपत्ति कर में मिलने वाली 10 प्रतिशत तक की छूट को अगले महीने की 31 तारीख तक बढ़ा दिया है। निगम की स्थायी समिति की हुई पहली बैठक में कल ये निर्णय लिया गया है। बैठक के बाद मीडिया को संबोधित करते हुए स्थायी समिति की अध्यक्ष सत्या शर्मा ने बताया कि इस बैठक में सदस्यों ने सक्रिय रूप से भाग लिया और नागरिकों से जुड़े महत्वपूर्ण मुद्दों को स्थायी समिति के समक्ष रखा। उन्होंने कहा कि बैठक में विभिन्न विषयों पर सकारात्मक चर्चा हुई जिनमें मानसून को लेकर निगम की तैयारियों जैसे महत्वपूर्ण मुद्दे शामिल थे।

The Government has denied claims that it is planning to impose a tax on water usage for agricultural purposes. The Jal Shakti Ministry clarified that rumors pertaining to taxation under the new scheme – “Modernization of Command Area Development and Water Management” are baseless and false. According to the Ministry, there is no provision under this pilot project, nor any directive from the Government, to necessarily impose user charges on farmers for water usage. The Ministry said that certain sections of the media have reported, inaccurately and misleadingly, that farmers will now be required to pay charges for the use of water under this scheme being piloted by the Centre.

बृहन्मुंबई नगर निगम-बीएमसी शहर की लगातार मानसून बाढ़ से निपटने के लिए जुलाई 2025 तक राष्ट्रीय आपदा प्रबंधन प्राधिकरण को बाढ़ मास्टर प्लान सौंपेगी। यह योजना मुंबई की जल निकासी क्षमता को 100 मिलीमीटर प्रति घंटे से अधिक वर्षा को संभालने के लिए उन्नत करने पर केंद्रित है। प्रस्तावित योजना के हिस्से के रूप में, बीएमसी चार नए पंपिंग स्टेशन बनाएगी।

June 28 1972 death anniversary tributes to a genius who founded the ISI that s Indian statistical Institute. Prasanta Chandra Mahalanobis, was a scientist and statistician. He is best remembered for the Mahalanobis distance, a statistical measure, and for being one of the members of the first Planning Commission of independent India. After graduating with honours in physics from Presidency College, Calcutta, in 1912, he moved to England to study physics and mathematics at the University of Cambridge. Over there he got interested in statistics and when he returned home, his interest in statistics had evolved into a serious academic pursuit, and he applied statistical methods to problems in anthropology, meteorology, and biology. On December 17, 1931, he established the Indian Statistical Institute in Calcutta.
