The launch of Axiom-4 mission, that would carry India’s astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla to space has been postponed by a day due to bad weather. In a social media post, ISRO Chairman V Narayanan said that the targeted time of the launch is 5:30 PM IST tomorrow. This historic mission will carry four astronauts from the US, India, Poland, and Hungary to the International Space Station (ISS) for a 14-day scientific mission in Low Earth Orbit (LEO). The four astronauts on the Axiom-4 (AX-4) mission are Subhanshu Shukla from India, Sławosz Uznański from Poland, Tibor Kapu from Hungary, and Peggy Whitson from the US. More from our correspondent:
The crew will fly aboard the SpaceX dragon that will be launched by the Falcon 9 rocket which will be launched from launch pad no 39 from Kennedy space centre from Cape Canaveral. This will be the first flight of the Dragon’s Spacecraft and the Falcon 9 booster’s second. After lifting off and completing its task, the first stage of the Falcon 9 rocket will return to the Earth and land at landing Zone 1 in Florida. Shubhanshu Shukla in a video released by Axiom Space said that he felt extremely fortunate that he is becoming a part of something much bigger. The mission aims to support both current space research and future long term space missions, while also helping Earth based studies through data collected in orbit. The crew will perform over 60 scientific experiments in fields such as human health, earth studies, life sciences, biology and material research. Joy, Akashvani.

Over 142 crore trees have been planted across the country, contributing to carbon absorption and ecological restoration. India has also made significant strides in wildlife conservation. Initiatives such as Project Cheetah, Project Lion, and the expanded Project Tiger focus on habitat development and species recovery. India now has at least 3,682 tigers, accounting for over 75 percent of the world’s wild tiger population.
India currently has 91 Ramsar sites, the highest in Asia. The latest additions – Khichan in Phalodi and Menar in Udaipur, both in Rajasthan – further strengthen the nation’s commitment to protecting vital wetlands. Coastal and wetland conservation has also gained momentum. 13 Indian beaches have earned the prestigious Blue Flag certification, while schemes like Amrit Dharohar and MISHTI are advancing the preservation of wetlands and mangroves, crucial for climate resilience. Eighteen Indian Navy Officers, including one woman Officer, graduated from the Helicopter Training School at INS Rajali on successful completion of the 104 Helicopter Conversion Course . The Officers were awarded the coveted ‘Golden Wings’ by Vice Admiral Rajesh Pendharkar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Eastern Naval Command at an impressive Passing Out Parade yesterday.
The parade marked the culmination of an intensive 22-week programme comprising rigorous flying and ground training at Indian Naval Air Squadron 561, the alma mater of helicopter pilots of the Indian Navy.

Union Coal Mines Minister and Telangana BJP State president G. Kishan Reddy has inaugurated the newly installed façade lighting at Kacheguda railway station in Hyderabad last evening. Kachiguda is a Gothic-style structure built in 1916 during the Nizam era. The historic station has been illuminated with 785 fixtures, installed by the ministry of tourism at a cost of 2.23 crore rupees. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the enhanced lighting will allow thousands of daily commuters to better appreciate the architectural heritage of the station and will enhance the visual appeal of the central city area. He also noted that the station uses green energy, contributing to environmental sustainability. Modernisation works under the Amrit Bharat Railway Station scheme are underway at Kacheguda station, with an investment of over 421 crore rupees.

दिल्ली पुलिस ने राजधानी में अवैध रूप से रह रहे 66 बांग्लादेशी नागरिकों को शहर के वजीरपुर और न्यू सब्जी मंडी क्षेत्र से गिरफ्तार किया है। गिरफ्तार किए गए अवैध नागरिक ग्यारह परिवारों के सदस्य हैं। उत्तर-पश्चिमी जिले के पुलिस उपायुक्त भीष्म सिंह ने बताया किखुफिया जानकारी मिलने के बाद इन अवैध नागरिकों को गिरफ्तार किया गया।
दिल्ली सरकार राजधानी दिल्ली में डेढ़ सौ करोड़ रुपये की लागत से देश के पहले अत्याधुनिक ई-वेस्ट इको पार्क का निर्माण करने जा रही है, जो पर्यावरण संरक्षण की दिशा में एक ऐतिहासिक पहल होगी। दिल्ली सरकार में उद्योग मंत्री मनजिंदर सिंह सिरसा ने बताया कि राजधानी के होलंबी कलां में ग्यारह एकड़ से अधिक क्षेत्रफल में इस पार्क का निर्माण किया जाएगा,

पूर्वी दिल्ली के दिलशाद गार्डन में एक घर के पास ई-रिक्शा चार्जिंग पॉइंट पर आग लगने से दो लोगों की मौत हो गई। आग बुझाने के लिए दिल्ली अग्निशमन की चार दमकल गाड़ियां मौके पर पहुंचीं। घटना में झुलसे दो लोगों को जी.टी.बी. अस्पताल ले जाया गया, जहां उन्हें मृत घोषित कर दिया गया।

ग्रेटर मुंबई नगर निगम मानसून के मौसम में जलभराव की स्थिति में बारिश के पानी को जल्दी से निकालने के लिए पंपों के साथ दस 10 वाहन तैनात करेगा। ये वाहन वैकल्पिक व्यवस्था हैं और मौजूदा पंप के विफल होने की स्थिति में त्वरित प्रतिक्रिया इकाइयों के रूप में कार्य करेंगे या शहर के कुछ हिस्सों में गंभीर जलभराव वाले क्षेत्रों में तैनात किए जाएंगे।
बॉम्बे हाई कोर्ट ने कहा है कि वह प्लास्टर ऑफ पेरिस या पीओपी से बनी मूर्तियों को किसी भी प्राकृतिक जल निकाय में विसर्जित नहीं होने देगा। कोर्ट कई कारीगरों द्वारा दायर याचिका पर सुनवाई कर रहा था, जिसमें पीओपी से बनी गणेश मूर्तियों के निर्माण पर प्रतिबंध हटाने की मांग की गई थी। न्यायालय ने सरकार को तीन सप्ताह के भीतर पीओपी मूर्तियों के विसर्जन पर निर्णय लेने का निर्देश दिया और मामले की अगली सुनवाई 30 जून को तय की।

Today is the birthday of Malavath Poorna, an Indian mountaineer. On 25 May 2014, Poorna climbed Mount Everest, aged 13 years and 11 months, the youngest female to have reached the summit. Purna climbed Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe on 27 July 2017. After reaching the summit of Elbrus, Poorna unfurled a 50 ft long Indian Tricolor and sang the Indian National Anthem. She completed the Seven Summits on 5 June 2022 climbing Denali.
A film based on Poorna’s life story was released in 2017 named “Poorna: Courage Has No Limit” directed by Rahul Bose.

He was ranked World No. 1 in 1980; the same year he became the first Indian to win the All England Open Badminton Championships. Its also the birthday of Pichai Sundararajan, born and brought up in India, currently an American business executive. He is the chief executive officer (CEO) of Alphabet Inc. and its subsidiary Google.
Sundar Pichai began his career as a materials engineer. He joined Google in 2004. He went on to oversee the development of other applications such as Gmail and Google Maps. He was selected to become the next CEO of Google on August 10, 2015, after previously being appointed chief product officer by then CEO Larry Page. He was appointed to the Alphabet Board of Directors in 2017.
Pichai completed schooling in Jawahar Vidyalaya Senior Secondary School in Chennai and completed the Class XII from Vana Vani school at IIT Madras. In 1980, he won the Danish Open, the Swedish Open and became the first Indian to win the men’s singles title at the All England Championship with a victory over Indonesia’s Liem Swie King, who was one of the world’s leading singles players of his era. Padukone spent much of his international career training in Denmark, and developed close friendships with European players such as Morten Frost.
After his retirement from competitive sports in 1991, Prakash served as the chairman of the Badminton Association of India for a short while. He also served as the coach of the Indian national badminton team from 1993 to 1996. He co-founded Olympic Gold Quest with Geet Sethi, a foundation dedicated to the promotion of Olympic sports in India.
