Addressing the International Conference on Disaster Resilient Infrastructure, CDRI 2025 via video conferencing yesterday, Mr Modi called for construction of infrastructure that remains steadfast against time and tide, emphasizing the need for resilience in development.
Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for the presence of representatives from the Pacific Indian Ocean, and Caribbean regions, and welcomed the African Union’s participation in the coalition.
He underscored that disaster resilience requires innovative financing and called for the creation of actionable programs to ensure developing nations have access to necessary funds.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has ordered an increase in compensation for the 11 families of those who died in stampede in Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday, raising the amount to 25 lakh rupees each. Previously, the government had announced 10 lakh rupees in compensation per family. The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) franchise has announced 10 lakh rupees compensation for the deceased, while the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) has announced 5 lakh rupees in this regard.

Germany has reaffirmed its strong support and solidarity for India’s fight against terrorism. German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul condemned the Pahalgam terrorist attack and expressed his country’s support to India during a meeting with an Indian Parliamentary delegation that outlined New Delhi’s resolve to not give in to nuclear blackmail by Pakistan. The all party delegation, led by BJP MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, conveyed to German political and diplomatic leadership India’s unwavering united stand for zero-tolerance for terrorism. The delegation also held interaction with leaders and key representatives of Indian community in Germany. Mr Ravi Shankar Prasad appreciated the support and solidarity shown by Indian Diaspora in aftermath of Pahalgam terror attack. Addressing the Indian Diaspora, Mr. Prasad said that Pakistan is habitual offender.
The delegation concluded its visit to Germany yesterday.

एक्सिओम-4 वाणिज्यिक मिशन के मिशन पायलट के रूप में शुभांशु शुक्ला, मिशन कमांडर पैगी व्हिटसन, हंगरी मूल के विशेषज्ञ टिबोर कापू और पोलैंड के स्लावोज़ उज़्नान्स्की-विस्नीव्स्की के साथ अंतरिक्ष मिशन पर जा रहे हैं। वर्ष 1984 में रूस के सोयुज मिशन पर राकेश शर्मा की ऐतिहासिक अंतरिक्ष उड़ान के 41 साल बाद एक्सिओम-4 मिशन के माध्यम से भारत की अंतरिक्ष यात्रा में वापसी हो रही है। अंतर्राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष स्टेशन में 14 दिनों के प्रवास के दौरान, एक्सिओम-4 के अंतरिक्ष यात्रियों की प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी, स्कूली छात्रों और अंतरिक्ष उद्योग की जानी मानी हस्तियों के साथ बातचीत करने की उम्मीद है। श्री शुक्ला भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन – इसरो और जैव प्रौद्योगिकी विभाग – डीबीटी तथा नासा के सहयोग से विकसित किये गये विशेष खाद्य और पोषण संबंधी प्रयोग करेंगे। इस मिशन पर श्री शुक्ला का अनुभव 2027 में होने वाले गगनयान मिशन के लिए बहुत उपयोगी सिद्ध होगा। इसरो एक्सिओम-4 मिशन पर 550 करोड़ रुपये का निवेश कर रहा है।
इस प्रक्षेपण के साथ ही शुक्ला लगभग चार दशक बाद अंतरिक्ष की यात्रा करने वाले दूसरे भारतीय बन जाएंगे. राकेश शर्मा ने 1984 में रूस के सोयूज अंतरिक्ष यान से अंतरिक्ष की यात्रा की थी.

Tax reforms and reliefs, social security, and skill development have been important pillars of the government’s efforts toward the empowerment of the Middle Class. The latest Union Budget made income up to 12 lakh rupees tax-free under the new tax regime. Pre-filled income tax returns and a faceless assessment system have made tax compliance faster, simpler, and more transparent. The Unified Pension Scheme, UPS, guarantees 50 percent of the average basic pay as pension for government employees with 25 years of service. Meanwhile, the average inflation rate over the past decade has been contained at 5 percent, down from 8.2 percent in the previous ten years. Equally transformative has been the push for skill development. Under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, over 1.63 crore youth have received industry-relevant training. The National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme has facilitated the placement of over 40 lakh apprentices with industries since 2016. The number of Industrial Training Institutes has also increased significantly, from around 9 thousand 900 in 2014 to over 14 thousand 600 in 2024. Together, these efforts have delivered real empowerment to the middle class. The government’s approach is clear: listen to its citizens, simplify the system, and deliver on promises. Anna University is planning to increase intake in BE Civil Engineering Tamil medium offered at College of Engineering from 30 to 60 seats, from the 2025-26 academic year. The State Government has launched two Tamil medium engineering programs in civil and mechanical engineering at College of Engineering 2010. These Tamil medium courses have been attracting top rankers as they provide an opportunity to study engineering at one of the premier campuses.

The Government Arts College in Nandanam Chennai, an all men campus until a few years ago, is attempting to turn into a co-ed college. The College received 11,400 applications from women, which amounts to 42 percent of total applications for UG courses, and a ten-fold increase compared to last year.

Pre Kharif Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan that started on May 29th has already reached out to over eight lakh 95 thousand farmers across the country covering 8,188 villages.
In Karnataka over 70 inter-disciplinary teams of scientists, agriculture and allied department officials are reaching to the farmers daily and recording the feedback that will help develop demand driven and problem oriented research programmes at the ICAR research centres.
Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ welfare Shivaraj Singh Chauhan is extensively travelling across the country to be part of the Sankalp Abhiyan. He will be in Bengaluru today as part of the Abhiyan and will address nearly 500 farmers from Karnataka at the Indian Institute of Horticulture near Bengaluru. He will also interact with them on issues plaguing them. He will visit farmers’ fields and get feedback. He will be witnessing the technology that has reached the farmers’ fields, providing them disease free high yielding produce.

As part of this, internal road construction works worth over 31 crore rupees are being undertaken in the Karimnagar Lok Sabha constituency under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). दुनिया एक रंगमंच है और यहां हर कोई अपनी भूमिका निभाने आया है, बहुत से लोग अपनी भूमिका अच्छे से निभा पाते हैं और उनका नाम इतिहास में दर्ज हो जाता है। इस रंगमंच के ऐसे ही एक फनकार थे हबीब तनवीर। मशहूर नाटककार, निर्देशक, कवि और अदाकार हबीब तनवीर आठ जून के दिन दुनिया के रंगमंच से विदा हुए थे। तनवीर के मशहूर नाटकों में आगरा बाजार और चरणदास चोर शामिल हैं। हबीब तनवीर ने 50 वर्ष की अपनी लंबी रंगमंच यात्रा में 100 से अधिक नाटकों का मंचन किया। शतरंज के मोहरे, लाला शोहरत राय, मिट्टी की गाड़ी, गांव का नाम ससुराल मोर नाम दामाद, पोंगा पंडित, द ब्रोकन ब्रिज, जहरीली हवा और राज रक्त उनके मशहूरों नाटकों में शुमार हैं।
A pioneer in Urdu and Hindi theatre, he was most known for his work with Chhattisgarhi tribals, at the Naya Theatre, a theatre company he founded in 1959 in Bhopal. He went on to include indigenous performance forms such as nacha, to create not only a new theatrical language, but also milestones such as Charandas Chor, Gaon ka Naam Sasural, Mor Naam Damad and Kamdeo ka Apna Basant Ritu ka Sapna.

साथ अभिनय की शुरुआत की, साल 1973 में रिलीज हुई इस फिल्म ने डिंपल को रातों-रात स्टार बना दिया था। इसके अलावा उन्हें फिल्म ‘सागर’ के लिए भी बेहद पसंद किया गया। डिंपल कपाड़िया अक्सर लीक से हटकर भूमिकाओं के लिए याद की जाती हैं। उन्होंने विनोद खन्ना के साथ फिल्म ‘लेकिन’ में काम किया। वहीं अगर उनकी फिल्म ‘रुदाली’ का जिक्र न हो तो बात अधूरी रह जाएगी। कल्पना लाजमी के निर्देशन में बनी इस फिल्म में डिंपल कपाड़िया एक अलग ही भूमिका में नजर आई।
