Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved the increase in the Minimum Support Prices, MSP for fourteen Kharif crops for Marketing Season 2025-26. Briefing media in New Delhi yesterday, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said government has increased the MSP of Kharif crops for Marketing Season 2025-26, to ensure remunerative prices to the growers for their produce.
Union Cabinet has also approved continuation of Modified Interest Subvention Scheme for Financial year 2025-26 with existing 1.5 percent Interest Subvention.
The Cabinet also gave nod to two multitracking projects across Indian Railways in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

Today we remember Param Vir Chakra awardee Major Dhan Singh Thapa who showed exemplary courage and bravery during the Sino-Indian war in 1962.
“Born in 1928 in Himachal Pradesh, Major Dhan Singh Thapa was commissioned into the 8 Gorkha Rifles in August 1949. During the 1962 Indo-China War, he commanded a platoon of C Company at the strategically vital Sirijap-1 post near Pangong Lake in Ladakh, tasked with defending the Chushul airfield. On October 21, the Chinese launched a heavy artillery and mortar assault on the post, damaging some wireless sets and setting the area ablaze. Despite being outnumbered, Major Thapa and his men repelled two successive enemy attacks, inflicting significant casualties on the enemy. Undeterred by mounting losses, they stood firm. A third and more intense assault followed, supported by tanks. With dwindling ammunition and reduced manpower, the platoon continued to resist. When the post was finally overrun, Major Thapa emerged from his trench, engaging in fierce hand-to-hand combat before being captured. The Chennai Metro Rail will be adding 28 new six car trains by 2028. According to the plan, some underground stations are to be extended and elevated stations such as Guindy and CMBT stations are to receive new platform screen doors to manage peak hour crowding. The introduction of added trains is likely to reduce the waiting time to three minutes. The current arrangement where trains run every 6 to 12 minutes on some sections will have a wider base of travellers in the metro in the near future. To support six car operations infrastructure upgrades are planned at 21 underground stations.

Around 180 passengers aboard an Air India Express flight from Singapore had a narrow escape yesterday after pilots were forced to abort landing at Chennai airport due to an unstable approach and cross winds. The flight which was scheduled to land at 10.15 am descended to as low as 200 feet before the pilots initiated a go around. It eventually landed safely on the second attempt after circling the airport, resulting in a delay of nearly 30 minutes.

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has directed District Incharge Ministers and Secretaries to supervise the relief and rehabilitation efforts at places hit by torrential rainfall. He chaired a meeting in Bengaluru yesterday to take stock of the situation post monsoon rains in the state. He has also asked the Chief Secretary to convene a meeting of district Deputy Commissioners, CEOs of Zilla Panchayats and district incharge Secretaries on May 30 and 31 to review the situation. After the augment of South West Monsoon and copious rainfall that followed, 170 taluks in the state were impacted by floods and landslides.

सोलह वर्ष में पृथ्वी थिएटर के 2662 शो हुए जिनमें पृथ्वीराज ने लगभग सभी शो में मुख्य किरदार निभाया। पृथ्वी थिएटर के प्रति पृथ्वीराज इस क़दर समर्पित थे कि तबीयत ख़राब होने के बावजूद भी वह हर शो में हिस्सा लिया करते थे। वह शो एक दिन के अंतराल पर नियमित रूप से होता था। एक बार तत्कालीन प्रधानमंत्री जवाहर लाल नेहरू ने उनसे विदेश में जा रहे सांस्कृतिक प्रतिनिधिमंडल का प्रतिनिधित्व करने की पेशकश की, लेकिन पृथ्वीराज ने नेहरू जी से यह कह उनकी पेशकश नामंजूर कर दी कि वह थिएटर के काम को छोड़कर वह विदेश नहीं जा सकते। पृथ्वी थिएटर के बहुचर्चित कुछ प्रमुख नाटकों में दीवार, पठान, 1947, गद्दार, 1948 और पैसा 1954 शामिल है। पृथ्वीराज ने अपने थिएटर के जरिए कई छुपी हुई प्रतिभा को आगे बढ़ने का मौक़ा दिया, जिनमें रामानंद सागर और शंकर जयकिशन जैसे बड़े नाम शामिल है।
आकर्षक व्यक्तित्व व शानदार आवाज़ के स्वामी पृथ्वीराज कपूर ने सिनेमा और रंगमंच दोनों माध्यमों में अपनी अभिनय क्षमता का परिचय दिया हालांकि उनका पहला प्यार थिएटर ही था। उनके पृथ्वी थिएटर ने क़रीब 16 वर्षों में दो हज़ार से अधिक नाट्य प्रस्तुतियां कीं। पृथ्वी राज कपूर ने अपनी अधिकतर नाट्य प्रस्तुतियों में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिकाएँ निभाईं। थिएटर के प्रति उनकी दीवानगी स्पष्ट थी। पृथ्वी थिएटर की नाट्य प्रस्तुतियों में सामाजिक जागरूकता के साथ ही देशभक्ति और मानवीयता को प्रश्रय दिया गया। वर्ष 1944 में स्थापित पृथ्वी थिएटर के नाटकों में यथार्थवाद और आदर्शवाद पर भी पर्याप्त ज़ोर दिया गया।
इसी दौरान पृथ्वीराज कपूर की मुग़ले आजम, हरिश्चंद्र तारामती, सिकंदरे आजम, आसमान, महल जैसी कुछ सफल फ़िल्में प्रदर्शित हुईं। वर्ष 1960 में प्रदर्शित के. आसिफ की मुग़ले आज़म में उनके सामने अभिनय सम्राट दिलीप कुमार थे, इसके बावजूद पृथ्वीराज कपूर अपने दमदार अभिनय से दर्शकों का ध्यान अपनी ओर आकर्षित करने में सफल रहे।

वर्ष 1965 में प्रदर्शित फ़िल्म आसमान महल में पृथ्वीराज ने अपने सिने कैरियर की एक और न भूलने वाली भूमिका निभाई।

इसके बाद वर्ष 1968 में प्रदर्शित फ़िल्म तीन बहुरानियां में पृथ्वीराज ने परिवार के मुखिया की भूमिका निभाई, जो अपनी बहुरानियों को सच्चाई की राह पर चलने के लिए प्रेरित करता है।

पृथ्वीराज को देश के सर्वोच्च फ़िल्म सम्मान दादा साहब फाल्के के अलावा पद्म भूषण तथा कई अन्य पुरस्कारों से भी नवाजा गया।
