India has strongly criticised Pakistan at the United Nations Security Council saying, India has experienced decades of Pakistani-sponsored terrorist attacks across the borders. The comments came from India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish, during an open debate on protecting civilians during armed conflicts. He said that Pakistan has repeatedly used civilian cover to advance the cause of terrorism.
Referring to recent incidents, Mr. Harish said that the Pakistani army had deliberately targeted Indian border villages earlier this month.

A US court in the state of Massachusetts temporarily blocked the Trump administration’s order revoking Harvard University’s certification to enroll international students. The court’s decision came a day after the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) cancelled Harvard’s certification to use Student and Exchange Visitor Information System in an escalation of US President Donald Trump’s attack on the Ivy League school. The DHS decision also told the university that foreign students on its rolls must transfer to another college or lose status. There are an estimated 780 Indian students and scholars at Harvard.

सर्वोच्च न्यायालय ने आईटीबीपी, बीएसएफ, सीआरपीएफ, सीआईएसएफ और एसएसबी समेत सभी केंद्रीय सशस्त्र पुलिस बलों में छह महीने के भीतर कैडर समीक्षा करने का निर्देश दिया है। यह समीक्षा वर्ष 2021 में ही होनी थी, लेकिन इसमें विलंब हो गया। न्यायालय ने कार्मिक और प्रशिक्षण विभाग को कैडर समीक्षा और मौजूदा सेवा नियमों तथा भर्ती नियमों की समीक्षा के संबंध में गृह मंत्रालय से रिपोर्ट प्राप्त होने के तीन महीने के भीतर उचित निर्णय लेने का निर्देश दिया।

As a run up to the celebration of International Yoga Day 2025 on 21st June, Ladakh Union Territory Administration has announced its decision to celebrate a week-long Yoga festival titled Ladakh ‘s biggest International Festival of Yoga and Meditation from June 15 to 21 at multiple locations of the region.
“Ladakh is decided to celebrate Week Long Yoga and Meditation Festival as a run to the International Yoga Day. After the celebration at most beautiful places of Ladakh, this festival is planned to culminate with the celebration of International Yoga Day at Astro Turf Stadium, which is popularly known as the highest football Stadium of the Country. It has an ambitious plan of seeing a large number of participants both from civil and defence personnel from Indian Army and Indo-Tibetan Border Police. Union Territory Administration in collaboration with Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre, Ladakh already started preparation for this mega event of wellness program including two rounds of meetings between officials of Union Territory Administration and Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre for selection of locations and other logistics arrangements. The week-long festival is being held on the three lines of signature events such as Harit Yoga, Samavesh Yoga and Yoga Unplugged and these have been chosen from the themes given by the Union Ayush Ministry. शिक्षा मंत्रालय ने शैक्षणिक संस्थानों को तम्बाकू और मादक पदार्थों से मुक्त बनाने के लिए एक राष्ट्रव्यापी अभियान शुरू किया है। पता है शगुन हमारे देश में 13 से 15 साल की उम्र के लगभग 8.5 प्रतिशत स्कूल विद्यार्थी तम्बाकू का सेवन करते है। इसलिए यह अभियान महत्वपूर्ण हो जाता है। इसका उद्देश्य छात्रों और युवाओं को इन पदार्थों के हानिकारक प्रभावों से बचाना है। महीनेभर चलने वाला यह अभियान 31 तारीख को विश्व तम्बाकू निषेध दिवस के अवसर पर शुरू होगा और अगले महीने की 26 तारीख तक जारी रहेगा। मंत्रालय ने तम्बाकू से होने वाले नुकसान के बारे में जागरुक करने के लिए MyGov प्लेटफॉर्म पर एक प्रश्नोत्तरी भी शुरू की।

The State Government has issued a communication to all districts emphasising on the risk to quarry workers’ lives from rockslides and explosions. Following a rockslide in a Sivaganga stone quarry that resulted in six deaths, the Geology and mining department directed officials in all districts to undertake quarry inspections and address safety concerns. The directive mandates deputy and assistant directors in all districts to inspect at least ten quarries every month and submit reports on safety precautions to the Commissionerate. All district collectors and zonal joint directors have been instructed to closely monitor the inspections conducted by the District Officials and issue appropriate orders.

Jaivik Krishik Society has organised a three day Organic Mango and Jackfruit fair in Lalbagh, Bengaluru during this weekend. The Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana of the Department of Horticulture in the state is sponsoring the event to create awareness about organic fruits among the people in the city. The fair will also provide a market to the farmers growing organic Mango and Jackfruit. The Horticulture department has introduced online shopping options for the convenience of the consumers. The organic Mangoes and Jackfruit which are grown without using fertiliser and pesticides can be purchased online and delivered at the doorsteps of the consumers. The Indian Institute of Horticulture Research based near Bengaluru has also put its stall in the Fair. There are also 60 varieties of jackfruit, over 85 types of mangoes and 15 varieties of Appe midi mango pickles on display.

Union Coal Mines Minister Kishan Reddy has said the Telangana state is getting three more new institutions, the Global Centre for Excellence on Millets, the Railway Kavach Project Centre for Excellence and the National Skill Institute. He informed this at a Press Conference in Hyderabad last evening and said these institutes will be beneficial to farmers, general public and youth. He said the Centre is setting up a Global Centre for Excellence on Millets with an outlay of over 200 crore rupees to encourage millets cultivation in the state. He said the Railway Kavach Project Centre for Excellence will be set up in Secunderabad and the Centre has already released over 40 crore rupees while over 270 crore rupees sanctioned later. The millet global research centre will have Instrumentation Lab, International Hostel, Millets Museum, Research Farms, Training Rooms and International Guest House.

International Day of the Markhor
The markhor is a wild goat species found across the mountainous regions of Central and South Asia, including Afghanistan, India, Pakistan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.
The UN General Assembly proclaimed 24 May the International Day of the Markhor, and we celebrated it for the first time in 2024.
The markhor was categorized as “near threatened” in 2014 and has been included in International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora since 1992.
“The biggest dangers to the markhor are losing their habitat, illegal hunting like poaching, and changes in the climate.”
The markhor is a valuable species that contributes to the local economy.

भारतीय सेना के जांबाज मेजर सुधीर कुमार वालिया की आज जयंती है। करगिल के युद्ध में अपना शौर्य दिखा चुके मेजर सुधीर वालिया को साथियों ने उनकी बहादुरी के लिए रैंबो नाम दिया था। जुलाई में 1999 को करगिल युद्ध की समाप्ति के बाद, सेना किसी भी स्थिति से निपटने के लिए हाई अलर्ट स्थिति जारी रखे हुए थी। आतंकवादियों के छिपे होने का सुराग मिलने पर 29 अगस्त 1999 को मेजर सुधीर कुमार वालिया पांच कमांडो की एक टीम के साथ जम्मू-कश्मीर के कुपवाड़ा जिले में घने जंगलों में मिशन पर थे। सामने से नेतृत्व करते हुए और अदम्य साहस दिखाते हुए मेजर सुधीर ने अकेले ही 4 आतंकवादियों को मार गिराया। इस दौरान उन्हें गोलियां लगीं। फिर भी उन्होंने अपनी टीम को तब तक आदेश देना जारी रखा जब तक कि उन्होंने सभी संदिग्ध आतंकवादियों को ख़त्म नहीं कर दिया। इस मुठभेड़ में वह वीरगति को प्राप्त हुए थे। मेजर सुधीर वालिया को उनकी उत्कृष्ट वीरता, और सर्वोच्च बलिदान के लिए 26 जनवरी 2000 को मरणोपरांत देश के सर्वोच्च शांतिकालीन वीरता पुरस्कार “अशोक चक्र” से अलंकृत किया गया।

अगर तुम राधा होते श्याम, मेरी तरह बस आठों पहर तुम, रटते श्याम का नाम. वन-फूल की माला निराली, वन जाती नागन काली, कृष्ण प्रेम की भीख मांगने, तुम, आते इस बृजधाम…’ जैसी अनेकों कालजयी रचनाएं लिखने वाले श्रेष्ठ साहित्यकार काज़ी नज़रुल इस्लाम की आज जयंती है। नजरुल को बांग्ला साहित्य के सबसे महान कवियों में से एक माना जाता है। उन्होंने कविता, संगीत, संदेश, उपन्यास, कहानियाँ आदि का एक बड़ा समूह तैयार किया। कुल मिलाकर तीन हजार गीतों की रचना की है, जिनसे निर्मित शैली को ‘नजरुल गीति’ नाम से जाना जाता है. नजरुल का मानना था कि चूंकि दुनिया की सारी कलाएं आम जनता की और उसके लिए हैं, इसलिए सारे कलाकारों को, वे कवि हों, कथाकार या संगीतकार, जनता के प्रति समर्पित होना चाहिए. उन्हें वर्ष 1960 में ‘पद्म भूषण’ से सम्मानित किया गया था।हिंदू पौराणिक कथाओं पर आधारित कई उपन्यास जैसे ‘शकुनी का वध’, ‘युधिष्ठिर का गीत’,’दाता कर्ण’ भी लिखा.

Shyamanand Jalan was a Kolkata-based Indian theatre director, and actor. He is credited for the renaissance period of modern Indian theatre and especially the Hindi theatre in Kolkata from the 1960s to 1980s.

विश्व की सबसे ऊंची चोटी माउंट एवरेस्ट पर चढ़ने वाली प्रथम भारतीय महिला बछेंद्री पाल का आज जन्मदिवस है। ‘पहाड़ों की रानी’ बछेंद्री पाल पर्वत शिखर एवरेस्ट की ऊंचाई को छूने वाली दुनिया की 5वीं महिला पर्वतारोही हैं। उन्होंने यह कारनामा 23 मई 1984 को दिन के 1 बजकर सात मिनट पर किया। यानी अपने जन्मदिन से एक दिन पहले। उनका जन्म उत्तरांचल के चमोली जिले में बंपा गाँव में 24 मई 1954 को हुआ।
बछेंद्री को पहाड़ों पर चढ़ने का चाव बचपन से ही था। जब इनका बड़ा भाई इन्हें पहाड़ पर चढ़ने से रोकता था और इनसे छह साल छोटे भाई को चढ़ने के लिए उकसाता था, तब बचेंद्री को बहुत बुरा लगता था। वह सोचती थी कि लोग लड़कियों को इतना कोमल, नाजुक क्यों समझते हैं। बहरहाल, पहाड़ों पर चढ़ने की उनकी इच्छा बचपन में भी पूरी होती रही। चूँकि उनका परिवार साल के कुछ महीने एक ऊँचाई वाले गाँव में बिताता था और कुछ महीने पहाड़ से नीचे तराई में बसे एक और गाँव में। जिस मौसम में परिवार नीचे तराई वाले गाँव में आ जाता था। उन महीनों में स्कूल जाने के लिए बछेंद्री को भी पाँच-छह मील पहाड़ की चढ़ाई चढ़नी और उत्तरनी पड़ती थी।इधर बछेंद्री की पढ़ाई पूरी हुई, उधर इंडियन माउंटेन फाउंडेशन ने एवरेस्ट अभियान पर जाने का साहस रखने वाली महिलाओं की खोज शुरू की। बछेंद्री इस अभियान दल में शामिल हो गई। कई महीनों के अभ्यास के बाद आखिर वह दिन आ ही गया, जब उन्होंने एवरेस्ट विजय के लिए प्रयाण किया और उसे फतह कर वहां तिरंगा लहराया।
