Greater Chennai Corporation has begun supplying ten thousand litres of water every day to around 150 horses used for joyride across the city’s beaches following the death of two horses due to heat stroke on Marina Beach in recent weeks. The move to supply the horses with water follows a request from people for animals. One horse had collapsed from dehydration on 25th April while the other died a few days later.

The 72nd edition of the Miss World pageant officially began on an alluring note at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium last evening in Hyderabad, with a vibrant showcase of Telangana’s cultural heritage. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy declared the event open after it started with the State anthem in the presence of Chairperson and CEO of the Miss World Organisation Julia Morley and reigning Miss World Krystyna Pyszková. Models participated in a catwalk parade where each Miss World contestant carried their national flag into the Gachibowli stadium. The opening ceremony was a colourful spectacle of folk and tribal dance traditions from across Telangana, choreographed in a parade-style presentation that celebrated the region’s rich cultural roots. Contestants from over 110 countries entered the arena in four continent-based groups, each welcomed with traditional music and dance. The ceremony culminated with a flag parade, where each contestant carried her national flag into the stadium. The Miss World finale is scheduled to take place on May 31 in Hyderabad.

मुंबई में तीन हजार ज़्यादा महिलाओं ने गेटवे ऑफ़ इंडिया से वर्ली तक 10 किलोमीटर की ‘नाइक आफ्टर डार्क टूर’ नाइट रन में हिस्सा लिया। दुनिया भर के सात शहरों में आयोजित ‘नाइक आफ्टर डार्क टूर’ नामक शाम की दौड़ का उद्देश्य महिलाओं की दौड़, समुदाय और आत्म-अभिव्यक्ति का जश्न मनाना है।

कोलकाता
पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार ने कोलकाता में ऐप आधारित ‘व्हेयर इज माई बस’ सेवा शुरू की है। शुरुआत में 16 रूटों पर 60 बसें चलाई जाएंगी। बाद में इस सेवा को सभी सरकारी और निजी बस सेवाओं में शामिल किया जाएगा। सरकार की ओर से फिलहाल 900 बस चालकों और कंडक्टरों को प्रशिक्षित किया जा रहा है। ट्रेडिंग पूरी होने के बाद 100 से ज़्यादा नई सरकारी बसें सेवा में शामिल हो जाएंगी। शनिवार को राज्य के परिवहन मंत्री स्नेहाशीष चक्रवर्ती ने पश्चिम बंगाल परिवहन निगम के साल्ट लेक डिपो से इस सेवा की शुरुआत की।

Admiral Sardarilal Mathradas Nanda
Today is the death anniversary of Admiral Sardarilal Mathradas Nanda,
(Maa tujhe salaam) —- Admiral Nanda
He was an Indian Navy admiral who served as the 6th Chief of the Naval Staff from 1 March 1970 until 28 February 1973.
He led the Indian Navy during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 and successfully executed a naval blockade of both West and East Pakistan, helping India achieve an overwhelming victory during the war. For the important role he played in the war, the Government of India awarded him the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award. Nanda is recognised as one of the most notable commanders in the history of the Indian Navy.
He was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award, and awards for distinguished service – the Param Vishisht Seva Medal and the Ati Vishisht Seva Medal.
During the difficult times of war, Indian Armed Forces have always shown that they are stronger than the enemy and we, together, united, feel proud of being Indians. Jai Hind!!!!

मृणालिनी साराभाई
मृणालिनी साराभाई (अंग्रेज़ी: Mrinalini Sarabhai, जन्म- 11 मई, 1918, केरल; मृत्यु- 21 जनवरी, 2016, अहमदाबाद, गुजरात) भारत की प्रसिद्ध शास्त्रीय नृत्यांगना थीं। उन्हें ‘अम्मा’ के तौर पर जाना जाता था। शास्त्रीय नृत्य में उनके योगदान तथा उपलब्धियों को देखते हुए भारत सरकार ने उन्हें ‘पद्मभूषण’ से सम्मानित किया था। मृणालिनी साराभाई ने भी नृत्य की अलग-अलग शैलियों की बारीकियां सीखीं। उन्होंने अमूबी सिंह से मणिपुरी नृत्य सीखा। कुंजु कुरूप से कथकली सीखा। मीनाक्षी सुदंरम पिल्लै और मुथुकुमार पिल्लै से भरतनाट्यम सीखा।
उनके हर एक गुरू का अपनी अपनी कला में जबरदस्त योगदान था। इसी दौरान उन्होंने विश्वविख्यात सितार वादक पंडित रविशंकर के भाई पंडित उदय शंकर के साथ भी काम किया। पंडित उदय शंकर का भारतीय कला को पूरी दुनिया में अलग पहचान दिलाने का श्रेय जाता है। उन्होंने आधुनिक नृत्य को लोकप्रियता और कामयाबी के अलग मुकाम पर पहुंचाया। इस बीच मृणालिनी साराभाई कुछ दिनों के लिए अमेरिका भी गईं और वहां जाकर ड्रामाटिक आर्ट्स की बारीकियां सीखीं। इसके बाद मृणालिनी साराभाई ने देश दुनिया में भारतीय नृत्य परंपरा का विकास किया।
She was the founder and director of the Darpana Academy of Performing Arts, an institute for imparting training in dance, drama, music and puppetry, in the city of Ahmedabad. She received Padma Bhushan in 1992 and Padma Shri in 1965. She also received many other citations in recognition of her contribution to art.

सागर सरहदी (अंग्रेज़ी: Sagar Sarhadi, जन्म- 11 मई, 1933; मृत्यु- 22 मार्च, 2021) भारतीय हिन्दी सिनेमा के दिग्गज पटकथा लेखक थे। उन्होंने ‘कभी कभी’, ‘चांदनी’, ‘सिलसिला’, ‘नूरी’, ‘दीवाना’, ‘कहो न प्यार है’, जैसी कई बेहतरीन फ़िल्मों की पटकथा लिखी। एक नाटक प्रेमी होने के साथ ही उन्होंने फ़िल्मों के संवाद लेखन और निर्देशन भी किया। स्मिता पाटिल की सबसे यादगार फ़िल्मों में से एक ‘बाज़ार’ की न केवल सागर सरहदी ने कहानी लिखी बल्कि उसके निर्माता निर्देशक भी वे ही थे। सागर सरहदी ने रंगमंच की दुनिया में फ़ारुख़ शेख़ और शबाना आज़मी जैसे दिग्गज कलाकारों को मौका दिया था।
