Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has said that the record GST collection in April showcases the resilience of Indian economy and effectiveness of cooperative federalism. Gross GST collections for April stood at 2.36 lakh crore rupees, marking a 12.6 per cent increase over the gross collection of 2.10 lakh crore rupees in April 2024. Net GST collections for April 2025 reached 2.09 lakh crore rupees, reflecting a 9.1 per cent growth compared to the net collection of 1.92 lakh crore rupees in April 2024. In a social media post, Ms Sitharaman expressed deepest gratitude to the taxpayers whose contributions and faith in the GST architecture drive the nation’s progress. She said, their contributions reflect a shared commitment to building a Viksit Bharat. Ms Sitharaman also highlighted the dedicated efforts of Finance Ministers of all states and state GST authorities, who remain equal partners in India’s GST framework. The Finance Minister also acknowledged the efforts of the field formations of the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) for their sincere efforts. The increase in GST collections was driven by the higher level of economic activity and better compliance.

India is set to host the Global Media Dialogue for the first time as part of WAVES Summit at Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai today.
The event marks a significant milestone in the country’s engagement with the global media and entertainment landscape. The four-day summit which began yesterday was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The Global Media Dialogue is being organized by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, with support from the Ministry of External Affairs. Over 60 countries are expected to participate in the event, with delegations from across Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Americas. The Dialogue aims to encourage international collaboration, promote best practices, and explore avenues for policy alignment, talent exchange, and capacity building in the global media space.

भारतीय रेलवे ने नई डिजिटल घडी के डिजाइन के लिए राष्ट्रव्यापी प्रतियोगिता की घोषणा की है। इस प्रतियोगिता से तैयार मानक घडियों को देश भर के रेलवे स्टेशनों और सभी प्लेटफॉर्म पर लगाया जाएगा। इस प्रतियोगिता में तीन वर्गों में प्रोफेशनल, विश्वविद्यालय और स्कूली छात्र भाग ले सकते हैं। रेलवे के सूचना और प्रचार कार्यकारी निदेशक दिलिप कुमार ने कहा कि प्रतियोगिता में प्रथम स्थान पर चुनी गई डिजाइन को पांच लाख रूपए का पुरस्कार दिया जाएगा। इसके अतिरिक्त सभी तीनों वर्गों में 50-50 हजार के पांच सांत्वना पुरस्कार दिए जाएंगे। प्रतियोगी इस महीने के अंत तक अपने डिजाइन ऑनलाइन भेज सकते हैं।

Moving on to the world of sports, in IPL Cricket, Mumbai Indians defeated Rajasthan Royals by 100 runs at Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur last night.
Chasing a target of 218 runs set by Mumbai Indians, Rajasthan Royals were all out for 117 in just 16.1 overs. Mumbai Managed to set a huge target with Ryan Rickelton fabulous innings of 61 runs. He was also declared Player of the match. Today, hosts Gujarat Titans will take on Sunrisers Hyderabad at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad from 7:30 PM.
Moving on to the Asian U-15 & U-17 Boxing Championships in Jordan, India finished its campaign winning a total of 43 Medals including 15 gold, 6 silver, and 22 bronze medals. The country finished second overall, just behind Kazakhstan. BFI Interim President Ajay Singh praised the team, calling their performance proud and satisfying.
In Badminton, India ended their Sudirman Cup campaign with a 3-2 win over England in their final Group D match in China yesterday. Despite the victory, India failed to reach the quarterfinals after earlier 1-4 losses to Denmark and Indonesia. With qualification hopes already over, India played freely as World No. 44 Anupama Upadhyaya comfortably beat England’s Miu Lin Ngan in women’s singles. CHENNAI METRO
The Greater Chennai Corporation has introduced a standard operating procedure mandating the builders to install dust barriers, cover waste materials and use water sprays to control dust. A resolution adopted at the Council meeting said that violators would have to pay a hefty penalty ranging from 10 thousand Rs. to 5 lakh Rs. depending on the site’s size and severity of violations. Atleast 6150 metric tonnes of solid waste is generated everyday in the city.
The Assistant Commissioner of the civic body, Dr. V. Jayachandra Bhanu Reddy said that a warning notice will be issued to rectify the violations and a 15 day period will be provided for compliance. If the violation continues a penalty will be imposed based on the area. An additional 7 day period will be given after that, and if not rectified even after that, an order will be issued to stop construction activities.

Two inscriptions dating to the early 13th Century, discussing the taxes prevalent during the Pandya era, have been found at Paramakudi in Ramanathapuram District. A group of independent archaeologists led by Ramanathapuram Archaeological Research Foundation President V. Rajaguru, discovered the inscriptions at the Mallikarjun Eswaran shrine in the Shiva temple in Emaneswaram Paramakudi. The two inscriptions were part of the same stone and according to Rajaguru, they belonged to the era of Pandya King Maravarman Sundarapandian-I who ruled Madurai in the early part of the 13th century.

Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar has said that by handing over the appointment letters as permanent employees of the government to the pourakarmikas, they have uplifted their life. Pourakarmikas or municipal corporation garbage collecting workers were given the appointment letters yesterday by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. This was one of the promises made during the Assembly election by the Congress party. This will cost the exchequer an amount of 700 crore rupees. Speaking on this occasion, Shivakumar said that the pourakarmikas are the ambassadors of cleanliness and children of God. He stressed on their vital role in keeping the city clean. He further said that by depositing an amount of 10 lakh rupees, the pourakarmikas inducted into the government can get a pension of 6000 rupees per month after retirement.

Telangana Government has withdrawn the Srisailam Left Bank Canal Tunnel rescue operation based on the report of Geological Survey of India (GSI). State Irrigation Minister Uttamkumar Reddy informed this at Nagarkurnool yesterday. He said the operation had been withdrawn following a report from the GSI which flagged the danger posed to rescuers in proceeding further at the actual site of the incident. The Minister said all the expert teams drawn from various organisations including Indian Army have been withdrawn and an expert team has been set up to suggest ways and means for the tunnel project. Total 8 individuals including Engineers and workers were trapped under debris when the SLBC tunnel partially collapsed deep inside the SLBC tunnel. During a 65 days long rescue operation held by multiple agencies, two bodies were recovered while six more remained untraced. The irrigation minister said the government had announced 25 lakh rupees ex-gratia to the families of each victim.

South Central Railway (SCR) has achieved its highest-ever freight loading for last month, by recording 12.36 million tonnes (MTs) in April this year. This marks a significant increase from the previous record of 11.64 MTs set in during the same period last year, showing over 6 per cent growth. This growth was mainly due to a sharp rise in the loading of iron ore and cement. However, fertilizer and container loadings saw a small decline. SCR has focused on improving freight services by streamlining wagon supply and monitoring train movements. General Manager Arun Kumar Jain appreciated the team’s coordination, especially during ongoing infrastructure work and special train operations.

राष्ट्रीय राजधानी क्षेत्र परिवहन निगम- एन.सी.आर.टी.सी. ने कल दिल्ली-गाजियाबाद-मेरठ कॉरिडोर के अंतिम खंड पर नमो भारत ट्रेन की परीक्षण यात्रा आरंभ हुई, जो इस खंड के अंतिम स्टेशन मोदीपुरम तक पहुंचेगी। इस दौरान शताब्दी नगर और मोदीपुरम के बीच नमो भारत ट्रेन चलाई गई। पहली बार नमो भारत ट्रेन ने मेरठ के भूमिगत खंड को पार किया।
दिल्ली में यात्रियों की सुविधा और पर्यावरण अनुकूल बनाने के लिए दिल्ली सरकार शहर में आज से 400 इलेक्ट्रिक दिल्ली ईवी इंटरकनेक्टर-डी.ई.वी.आई. बसें उतारने जा रही है। दिल्ली कि मुख्यमंत्री रेखा गुप्ता ने कहा कि दिल्ली एक स्वच्छ, और स्मार्ट भविष्य की ओर बढ़ रही है।
दिल्ली सरकार श्रमिकों और उनके परिवार के सदस्यों की वार्षिक स्तर पर निशुल्क स्वास्थ्य जांच कराएगी। दिल्ली की मुख्यमंत्री रेखा गुप्ता कल श्रमिक दिवस के अवसर पर कहा कि दिल्ली सरकार सुनिश्चित करेगी कि दिन में अत्यधिक गर्मी की स्थिति में श्रमिकों को दोपहर 12 बजे से 3 बजे तक आराम मिले। उन्होंने कहा कि इससे संबंधित अधिसूचना जारी की जाएगी।
डॉ. राम मनोहर लोहिया अस्पताल ने भीषण गर्मी के मौसम को ध्यान में रखते हुए हीट स्ट्रोक से पीड़ित मरीजों के इलाज के लिए हीट स्ट्रोक यूनिट को शुरू किया है। हीट स्ट्रोक यूनिट, इमर्शन कूलिंग तकनीक से सुसज्जित है, जो हीट स्ट्रोक के त्वरित प्रबंधन के लिए वर्तमान में स्वर्ण मानक है।
गर्मी के मौसम में हीट स्ट्रोक के मरीज़ों के इलाज लिए अस्पताल में हीट स्ट्रोक यूनिट की शुरुआत की गई है। इमर्शन कूलिंग तकनीक से युक्त इस यूनिट में दो सौ और ढाई सौ लीटर की क्षमता वाले दो इमर्शन कूलिंग टब बनाये गए हैं। इसके अलावा एक उच्च क्षमता वाला बर्फ बनाने वाला रेफ्रिजरेटर भी इस यूनिट में है जो एक बार में 200 से 250 किलोग्राम बर्फ बनाने में सक्षम है। मरीज़ों की गहन देखभाल के लिए वेंटिलेटर और उन्नत मल्टीपैरामीटर मॉनिटर से सुसज्जित दो क्रिटिकल केयर बेड भी हीट स्ट्रोक यूनिट में बनाये गए हैं। अस्पताल के निदेशक और चिकित्सा अधीक्षक डॉ. प्रोफ़ेसर अजय शुक्ला ने बताया कि ये यूनिट इमर्शन कूलिंग तकनीक से सुसज्जित है, जो हीट स्ट्रोक के त्वरित प्रबंधन के लिए वर्तमान में स्वर्ण मानक है।
अस्पताल के आपातकालीन चिकित्सा विभाग के प्रमुख डॉ. अमलेंदु यादव ने बताया कि पिछले वर्ष भी हीट स्ट्रोक यूनिट चालू की गई थी और इस वर्ष भी यह यूनिट प्रशिक्षित डॉक्टरों और कर्मचारियों के साथ-साथ मरीजों को इलाज मुहैया कराने के लिए अत्याधुनिक सुविधाओं से लैस है।
अस्पताल से पहले की देखभाल की दिशा में एक कदम के रूप में, अस्पताल ने एक मोबाइल हीट स्ट्रोक रिस्पॉन्स यूनिट भी शुरू की है। यह मोबाइल यूनिट सीधे फ़ील्ड स्थानों पर जीवन रक्षक हस्तक्षेप करने के लिए डिज़ाइन की गई है, जो रोगियों के लिए समय पर उपचार सुनिश्चित करती है।

दिल्ली के आईएनए इलाके में स्थित दिल्ली हाट में कल देर शाम भीषण आग लगने से लगभग 26 दुकाने जल गईं। दिल्ली सरकार में मंत्री कपिल मिश्रा ने इस घटना पर दुःख व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि इस घटना कि जांच की जाएगी और अगर कोई इसके पीछे है तो उसके खिलाफ सख्त कार्रवाई की जाएगी।
दिल्ली के उपराज्यपाल विनय कुमार सक्सेना और मुख्यमंत्री रेखा गुप्ता की अध्यक्षता में शहर में स्वच्छता के सम्बन्ध में राजनिवास में कल एक उच्च स्तरीय बैठक हुई। इस बैठक के बाद दिल्ली कि मुख्यमंत्री रेखा गुप्ता ने कहा कि अगले बीस दिन में दिल्ली के सभी हिस्सों में युद्ध स्तर पर सफाई अभियान चलाया जायेगा।
