President Droupadi Murmu has given assent to the Immigration and Foreigners Bill, 2025, which seeks to regulate the immigration, entry, and stay of foreigners in India. This Act repeals the Passport (Entry into India) Act, 1920, the Registration of Foreigners Act, 1939, the Foreigners Act, 1946, and the Immigration (Carriers’ Liability) Act, 2000.
The Act is intended to modernise the immigration laws and it has provisions to confer upon the Central Government certain powers with regard to passports, travel documents, visa and registration. It has been brought to avoid multiplicity and overlapping of laws.
According to the law, anyone found using or supplying a forged passport or visa for entering into India or staying in or exiting the country will be punishable with imprisonment for up to seven years and a fine of up to 10 lakh rupees. The legislation also mandates the reporting of information about foreigners by hotels, universities, other educational institutions, hospitals and nursing homes to enable tracking of overstaying foreigners. All international airlines and ships will also be required to submit at a port or place in India to a civil authority or immigration officer the passenger and crew manifest, the advance information of passengers and crew on board such aircraft, vessel or other mode of transport. The President’s assent came after Parliament approved the bill earlier this week.

Tamilnadu Government has said that encroachments on water bodies ,marsh, swamp, forest area, cantonment and railway land will not be eligible to get pattas under one-time special regularisation scheme. The revenue and disaster management department recently issued a Government order for a one time relaxation of the ban on the issuance of house site assignments in the city and suburbs. The scheme will be implemented until 31st December.The Government has formed a district level committee to scrutinize the proposals with the district collector as Chairman. The proposals will be re examined by a State level committee headed by the Chief Secretary.

Greater Chennai Corporation has announced that new construction and demolition waste management guidelines will be implemented from April 21. These guidelines aim to streamline the disposal and processing of waste generated from minor repairs to large scale construction and demolition activities in the city. Residents undertaking minor home repairs or discarding broken ceramic sanitary ware such as tiles, bathtubes and wash basins can now dispose of their waste free of charge at 15 designated locations across. Chennai. Micro generators producing waste amounts of upto one tonne can also opt for free debris clearance services by registering through Namma Chennai app or contacting the 1913 helpline.

दिल्ली नगर निगम ने अतिक्रमण विरोधी अभियान के अंतर्गत प्रीत विहार और आई पी एक्सटेंशन वार्ड में अस्थायी अतिक्रमण हटाने की कार्रवाई की । दौरान बड़ी संख्या में सामान जब्त किए गए और कई अस्थायी ढांचों को हटाया गया। दो दिनों तक चले इस संयुक्त अभियान के तहत लगभग 35 छप्पर हटाये गए।
दिल्ली विधानसभा परिसर में कल भगवान महावीर गाथा नामक कार्यक्रम का आयोजन किया जाएगा। यह कार्यक्रम भगवान महावीर स्वामी के दो हजार पांच सौ 50वें निर्वाण महोत्सव और दो हजार छह सौ 24वें जन्म कल्याणक के उपलक्ष्य में आयोजित किया जा रहा है। कार्यक्रम की अध्यक्षता विधानसभा अध्यक्ष विजेंद्र गुप्ता करेंगे। कार्यक्रम में मुख्यमंत्री रेखा गुप्ता मुख्य अतिथि के रूप में और विधानसभा उपाध्यक्ष मोहन सिंह बिष्ट विशिष्ट अतिथि के रूप में उपस्थित रहेंगे।
दिल्ली में बुनियादी ढांचे को मजबूत करने और यातायात की सुगमता के लिए लोक निर्माण विभाग मंत्री प्रवेश साहिब सिंह ने कल पांच सौ करोड़ रुपये की लागत से सोनिया विहार पुस्ता पर 6 किलोमीटर लंबे एलिवेटेड रोड के निर्माण की घोषणा की। यह एलिवेटेड रोड नानकसर गुरुद्वारा टी-पॉइंट से दिल्ली-यूपी बॉर्डर-ट्रोनिका सिटी तक बनाया जाएगा।
दिल्ली मेट्रो ने यात्री अनुभव को और अधिक सुविधाजनक बनाने के लिए ‘डीएमआरसी सारथी-मोमेंटम 2.0’ ऐप पर एकीकृत यात्रा समाधान की शुरुआत की है। इस नई पहल से यात्रियों को एक ही बार मेट्रो टिकट लेकर अपनी यात्रा के पहले और आखिरी स्टेशन के लिए बाइक टैक्सी और ऑटो-रिक्शा बुक करने की सुविधा मिलेगी, जिससे मेट्रो यात्रा का अनुभव और भी सरल तथा सुविधाजनक हो जाएगा।

A delegation led by Andhra Pradesh Municipal Administration Minister Dr Ponguru Narayana visited the Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited campus to view the solid waste management initiatives of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike. Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority Commissioner K Kanna Babu and Municipal Administration Commissioner and Director Dr P Sampath Kumar were present on this occasion. The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Chief Commissioner and Managing Director of the Solid Waste Management Limited Tushar Giri Nath explained the operations. He informed that for the first time user fees will be collected from waste generators along with the property tax to manage solid waste. He added that 6500 Metric Tonne of waste is generated in the city every day and they are segregated into dry, wet and hazardous sanitary waste. About 150 to 200 Metric Tonne of waste per day are scientifically disposed of.

Telangana has decided to escalate its water-sharing dispute with Andhra Pradesh to the Supreme Court, pointing to two major interlinking projects — the Godavari-Banakacherla Link Scheme and the Rayalaseema Lift Irrigation Scheme (RLIS). Telangana Irrigation and Civil Supplies Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy announced the legal move at a high-level meeting held in Hyderabad yesterday. The Minister alleged the Andhra Pradesh government of violating established water-sharing agreements and said the unilateral execution of these projects poses a grave threat to Telangana’s irrigation and drinking water needs. He asserted that the state will not be mute spectator and these schemes are unconstitutional and detrimental to Telangana’s future. The Godavari-Banakacherla project, with an estimated cost of over 80 thousand crore rupees aimed at diverting 200 TMC of Godavari water from Polavaram to Rayalaseema through Bollapalli reservoir and Banakacherla head regulator. He further said the proposal envisages linking the Godavari, Krishna, and Penna rivers, which goes against the Godavari Water Disputes Tribunal award of 1980 and the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act of 2014. The minister further said the Telangana government is committed to correct the mistakes of the past and the legal battle will be grounded in facts and law.

महाराष्ट्र के राज्यपाल सीपी राधाकृष्णन की मौजूदगी में शुक्रवार को मुंबई के राजभवन में राजस्थान और ओडिशा के स्थापना दिवस संयुक्त रूप से मनाए गए। कार्यक्रम का आयोजन महाराष्ट्र राजभवन ने सतारा स्थित कर्मवीर भाऊराव पाटिल विश्वविद्यालय के सहयोग से ‘एक भारत श्रेष्ठ भारत’ पहल के तहत किया था। विद्यार्थियों ने राजस्थान और ओडिशा के लोक नृत्य, संगीत और सांस्कृतिक परंपराओं को दर्शाते हुए सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रम प्रस्तुत किए। इनमें ‘केसरिया’ और ‘जिरमिर बरसे’ जैसे राजस्थानी लोकगीत और ओडिसी लोकगीत ‘रसरकेली बो’ शामिल थे।
मुंबई के विश्व व्यापार केंद्र और अखिल भारतीय उद्योग संघ ने प्रोचिली के भारत में व्यापार आयुक्त श्री जॉर्ज लोयोला कास्त्रो के नेतृत्व में चिली के एक उच्च स्तरीय व्यापार प्रतिनिधिमंडल के साथ एक बैठक की। एक आधिकारिक बयान के अनुसार, श्री कास्त्रो ने कहा कि चिली भारत के साथ कृषि, महत्वपूर्ण खनिजों और नवीकरणीय ऊर्जा जैसे प्राथमिकता वाले क्षेत्रों में व्यापार संबंधों को मजबूत करने का इच्छुक है।
