The Election Commission today issued notification for the third phase of Lok Sabha election. Elections will be held in 94 Lok Sabha seats in 10 States and two Union Territories in this phase. All 26 seats of Gujarat, 14 seats of Karnataka, 11 seats of Maharashtra, 10 seats of Uttar Pradesh, Eight seats of Madhya Pradesh, Seven seats of Chhattisgarh, Five seats of Bihar, Four seats each in Assam and West Bengal, two seats each in Goa and Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu and one seat in Jammu and Kashmir will go to polls in this third phase.
Notification for Betul constituency in Madhya Pradesh was also issued today. Election for Betul Parliamentary constituency which was to be held in 2nd Phase was adjourned due to the death of a contesting BSP candidate. Nominations can be filed till 19th of this month. Voting for this phase will be held on 7th May.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired a meeting to review preparedness for the ensuing heat wave season yesterday. During the meeting, he was briefed about the temperature outlook for the period from April to June this year including the forecasts for the upcoming hot weather season, the likelihood of above normal maximum temperatures over most parts of the country, especially over Central India and western peninsular India. The preparedness in the health sector was also reviewed in terms of essential medicines, intravenous fluids, ice packs, ORS and drinking water. The timely dissemination of essential awareness material especially in regional languages through all platforms such as television, radio and social media was stressed upon.

India clinched a total of three medals on the opening day of Asian Wrestling Championships at Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan yesterday. 19-year-old Udit won the silver medal in the Men’s 57kg category while Abhimanyou in Men’s 70kg and Vicky in Men’s 97kg grabbed the bronze medals. A total of five Indian wrestlers, all in the men’s freestyle division, were in action. Rohit in 67kg and Parvinder Singh in 79kg also competed but could not finish on the podium. Udit, lost to Japan’s Kento Yumiya 4-5 in the gold medal match to settle for the silver medal. This was the first time since 2019 that India did not win the gold medal in the category.

The doctors have advised to take precautions and prevent health complications and deaths due to heat wave conditions. A letter has been sent to District Officials he has directed block health officers and second level officers to ensure ORS solutions are refilled frequently.

The Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry, FKCCI has formally appealed to the Karnataka Electricity Regulatory Commission, KERC for the directives to implement the Time of Day or ToD scheme as per the Electricity (Rights of Consumers) Amendment Rules 2023. In its letter to the Commission, FKCCI has mentioned that the scheme had to be rolled out by April 1st. The Time of Day scheme once implemented will fix power tariff not less than 1.20 times the normal tariff during the peak period for industries and commercial consumers. This will be applicable for those consumers whose maximum demand for electricity will be more than 10 kw. To encourage solar usage, the Federation has requested KERC to reduce tariffs at least 20 percent less than the normal tariff for those using solar power. It has urged upon the regulatory commission to give directions for the implementation of smart meters. It has also sought intervention of the Commission to promote EV charging infrastructure to encourage electric vehicles.

The enforcement authorities in Hyderabad have seized over 34 lakh 39 thousand rupees in cash for violating Model Code Conduct yesterday. Hyderabad District Electoral Officer and GHMC Commissioner Ronal Rose informed that the authorities also seized various other goods worth over 56 thousand rupees and 50 ltrs of liquor. With this, the seized cash ever since the election schedule announced has gone up to over 13 crore 31 lakh rupees and goods seized worth over 1.87 crore in Hyderabad alone. The authorities also registered 144 cases for violating the MCC.

राजधानी की वायु गुणवत्ता खराब श्रेणी में बनी हुई है। केंद्रीय प्रदूषण नियंत्रण बोर्ड के अनुसार कल शाम सात बजे तक वायु गुणवत्ता सूचकांक 228 दर्ज की गई। शून्य से 50 तक वायु गुणवत्ता अच्छी मानी जाती है। 51 से एक सौ तक के बीच वायु गुणवत्ता संतोषजनक, 101 से 200 के बीच सामान्य तथा 201 से 300 के बीच खराब मानी जाती है।

मुंबई पुलिस ने मध्य प्रदेश के उज्जैन शहर से संचालित एक फर्जी स्टॉक ट्रेडिंग कॉल सेंटर का पर्दाफाश करते हुए तीन कथित धोखेबाजों को गिरफ्तार किया है, जो एक गिरोह का हिस्सा थे और जो निवेशकों को भारी रिटर्न का वादा करके धोखा देते थे। मुंबई पुलिस की छापेमारी के दौरान जिस अवैध कॉल सेंटर का पता चला था, उसका इस्तेमाल निवेशकों को शेयर बाजारों में निवेश पर बहुत अधिक रिटर्न का वादा करके लुभाने के लिए किया जाता था। छापेमारी के दौरान पुलिस टीम को तीन लाख ग्राहकों के मोबाइल फोन नंबर समेत अन्य महत्वपूर्ण सामग्री वाला डेटा बरामद हुआ।

कल गुरुवार को पालघर और ठाणे जिलों में तीन अलग-अलग घटनाओं में 18 महीने के लड़के सहित चार लोग डूब गए। पहली घटना में पालघर के वसई इलाके के भीगांव में 80 वर्षीय नटाल डाबरे और उनकी 56 वर्षीय बेटी मीनल डाबरे सुबह भोला झील में डूब गईं। पेल्हार के पास जबरपाड़ा में एक अन्य घटना में 18 महीने का रुद्र पिलाना अपने घर में पानी से भरे टब में डूब गया। उसके परिजन उसे अस्पताल ले गए जहां डॉक्टरों ने बच्चे को मृत घोषित कर दिया। तीसरी घटना में, काशीगांव के 31 वर्षीय इरफान पाशा घोड़बंदर की एक झील में डूब गए।

वैसे,कभी अपनी मोहब्बत से, कभी अपनी शायरी से और कभी-कभी अपनी बातों से ताज भोपाली लोगों को लुभाया करते थे। शक्लो-सूरत की परवाह उन्होने कभी नहीं की फिर भी उनका धुर काला रंग ज़बरदस्त दमकता रहता था। उनको अपनी इस फक़ीराना तबियत से इस क़दर आशनाई थी कि जब 60 के दशक में उन्हें सुप्रसिद्ध चरित्र अभिनेता अशोक कुमार के सेक्रेटरी जनाब एस.एम.सागर ज़िद करके फ़िल्मों में गीत लिखने को तत्कालीन बम्बई ले गए तो थोड़ा-बहुत वक़्त ही वे वहाँ रह पाए। भोपाल की गलियां सदा उनके कानो में ऐसी गूंजती रही कि काम-धाम छोड़-छाड़ वापस लौट आए। खैर,ताज भोपाली द्वारा लिखी 1969 की फ़िल्म ‘आंसू बन गए फूल’ में एक गीत,किशोर कुमार की आवाज़ में लक्ष्मीकांत-प्यारेलाल के संगीत के साथ बहुत प्रसिद्ध हुआ था,तो इस रेयर गीत को सुन लेते हैं क्योंकि ये गीत बहुत कम सुनने को मिलता है।

Mohit Chattopadhyaya (also spelled Mohit Chattopadhyay) (1 June 1934 – 12 April 2012) was a Bengali Indian playwright, screenwriter, dramatist and poet. He was a leading figure in modern Indian drama.
Mohit Chattopadhyaya started his literary career as a poet and later shifted to writing plays. He started writing prose poetry along with his friends, and had little interest in rhyming. At first his poetry was published in various magazines and shortly it was published in book format as his anthology of poems.Subsequently, he stopped writing poems and devoted entirely to writing plays. From the very beginning he avoided writing realistic plays and wrote esoteric often highly political plays. Though he refused to be labelled as an Absurdist playwright, claiming his plays do not conform to the Philosophy of “The Theatre of the Absurd” but frequently he is referred as an exponent of Indian Absurd Drama. The cryptic nature of his plays encouraged critics to call his plays “Kimitibadi” (Kim+Iti) in Bengali, which in English meant, “What is it?”As a prolific playwright he has written over one hundred plays. Some of his plays have been translated in different languages and have been regularly performed by various theatre groups around India. Other than full-length plays, Mohit Chattopadhyaya has written One Act plays, Verse plays Curtain Raisers, Microplays; he has adapted, edited and translated a number of plays in Bengali from other languages.His lay Raajrakto (Guinea pig) is considered as a milestone in the history of Bengali political drama. Kolkata based theatre group Theatre Workshop under the direction of Bibhash Chokrobarty first performed the play in Kolkata. Later the play was translated into various languages. In Delhi Rajindernath directed the Hindi version. Famous actor Kulbhushan Kharbanda acted in the play. In Mumbai, Satyadeb Dubey directed the play and Amrish Puri acted in it. Amol Palekar acted in the Marathi version and Shymanand Jalan produced another Hindi version of the play.

ये दक्षिण भारतीय सिनेमा के अमिताभ बच्चन कहे जाने वाले कन्नड़ फ़िल्मों के प्रसिद्ध अभिनेता थे। अत: इन्हें कन्नड़ फ़िल्मों का सबसे महान् नायक कहा जाए तो यह कदापि ग़लत नहीं होगा। राजकुमार का जन्म 24 अप्रैल, 1928 को मद्रास में हुआ था। राजकुमार को राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर कन्नड़ फ़िल्म इंडस्ट्री को स्थापित करने का श्रेय दिया जाता है। वर्ष 1995 में राजकुमार को हिंदी फ़िल्म इंडस्ट्री के सबसे बड़े पुरस्कार दादा साहब फालके पुरस्कार से सम्मानित किया गया था।

Herbert Jeffrey Hancock (born April 12, 1940) is an American jazz musician, bandleader, and composer. Hancock started his career with trumpeter Donald Byrd’s group. He shortly thereafter joined the Miles Davis Quintet, where he helped to redefine the role of a jazz rhythm section and was one of the primary architects of the post-bop sound. In the 1970s, Hancock experimented with jazz fusion, funk, and electro styles, using a wide array of synthesizers and electronics. It was during this period that he released perhaps his best-known and most influential album, Head Hunters.
Hancock’s best-known compositions include “Cantaloupe Island”, “Watermelon Man”, “Maiden Voyage”, and “Chameleon”, all of which are jazz standards. During the 1980s, he enjoyed a hit single with the electronic instrumental “Rockit”, a collaboration with bassist/producer Bill Laswell. Hancock has won an Academy Award and 14 Grammy Awards, including Album of the Year for his 2007 Joni Mitchell tribute album River: The Joni Letters.

गुलशन बावरा (अंग्रेज़ी: Gulshan Bawra, जन्म- 12 अप्रैल, 1937, अविभाजित पंजाब; मृत्यु- 7 अगस्त, 2009, महाराष्ट्र) हिन्दी फ़िल्मों के सुप्रसिद्ध गीतकार थे। उनका मूल नाम गुलशन कुमार मेहता था। उन्हें ‘बावरा’ का उपनाम फ़िल्म वितरक शांतिभाई पटेल ने दिया था। बाद में यह नाम इतना प्रसिद्ध हुआ कि पूरा फ़िल्म उद्योग उन्हें इसी नाम से पुकारने लगा। तो सुन लेते हैं गुलशन बावरा द्वारा लिखे कुछ मधुर गीतों की झलक –
