The Election Commission has said that it will resolve the longstanding issue of duplicate Electors Photo Identity Card (EPIC) numbers within the next three months. In a statement, the Commission said, it has decided to resolve this long-pending issue after detailed discussions within the technical teams and concerned Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) in the next three months, ensuring a unique national EPIC number for existing electors having duplicate EPIC numbers. The Commission had already taken cognizance of the issue of duplicate EPIC numbers. Irrespective of an EPIC number, an elector who is linked to the electoral roll of a particular polling station can cast their vote at that polling station only and nowhere else. A sample inquiry of over 100 electors reveals that electors with duplicate EPIC numbers are genuine electors. The issue of allotment of duplicate numbers due to incorrect series across States/UTs could not have been detected as the States/UTs were independently managing the electoral roll databases. India’s Electoral Rolls are the largest database of electors across the globe, with over 99 crore registered electors. In addition to the continuous updation of Electoral Rolls, the Election Commission conducts the Annual Special Summary Revision exercise every year for the updation of electoral rolls, which happens during the period of October-December each year, with the publication of final rolls in the following month of January.

18-year-old Indian Grandmaster Pranav Venkatesh dominated the FIDE World Junior Championship 2025 to claim the title in Montenegro. The teenager from Chennai left behind a field of 157 players – including 12 grandmasters – from 63 countries in the open section to claim the trophy. Pranav became the fourth Indian to win the World Junior title, following Viswanathan Anand, Pentala Harikrishna, and Abhijeet Gupta. Meanwhile, Grandmaster Aravindh Chithambaram won the prestigious Prague Masters in the Czech Republic. In the final round, Aravindh held a solid draw against Turkey’s Ediz Gurel to clinch sole first place. With this victory, Grandmaster Arvind broke into the world’s top 15.
Moving on to Cricket, In Women’s Premier League (WPL), Gujarat Giants defeated Delhi Capitals by 5 wickets at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow last night. Chasing a target of 178 runs set by the Capitals, Gujarat Giants reached the target with 5 wickets in hand and 3 balls to spare. In today’s match, defending champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) will face off against UP Warriorz at the same venue. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM. This is a do-or-die situation for RCB, as they must win their remaining two matches to qualify for the next round.
And, In the 6th Asian Women’s Kabaddi Championship, defending champions India will face the hosts, Iran in the final in Tehran this afternoon. The match is scheduled to begin at 12 noon. Earlier, India secured their spot in the final by defeating Nepal, 56-18, in the semifinal last evening. Meanwhile, Iran triumphed over Bangladesh 41-18 in the second semifinal.

रेल मंत्रालय ने कहा है कि रेलवे में महिला लोको पायलटों की संख्या में पांच गुना से अधिक की वृद्धि हुई है। रेलवे अपनी कठिन परिचालन चुनौतियों के कारण लंबे समय तक पुरुषों के प्रभुत्व वाला क्षेत्र रहा है। महिलाएं अब इस क्षेत्र में अपनी अलग पहचान बना रही हैं। लोको पायलट, स्टेशन मास्टर, ट्रैकमैन, सिग्नल मेंटेनेंस, गार्ड और गैंगमैन जैसे क्षेत्रों में भी महिलाओं ने प्रवेश किया है। रेलवे में महिला कर्मचारियों की वर्तमान संख्या एक लाख से अधिक है।

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. K. Stalin will facilitate loans totalling 3019 crore rupees to women self help groups in Chennai on the occasion of International Women’s Day. Speaking to the media, Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin said that district wise information on the effective utilisation of loans and ways to improve beneficiaries’ livelihood will be gathered at a higher level and Ministers and MLAs will visit every district, village and Panchayat to engage with the members of the Self help group who are actively involved and study their expectations. He said that 4.8 lakh active groups are functioning with a membership of 54 lakh women.

Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has urged the External Affairs Minister to use all available diplomatic channels to ensure the prompt release of all the detained fishermen and their fishing boats currently in Srilankan custody to prevent further apprehensions of Indian fishermen by the Srilankan Navy. In a letter to the Chief Minister, he stated that in the last two months 227 fishing boats have been seized and 107 fishermen have been captured by the Srilankan Navy. He told that the Srilankan authorities are detaining fishermen for a longer period of time and have started imposing heavy fines for their release.

As part of International Women’s Day, the South Western Railways with headquarters in Hubballi in Karnataka will organise a series of engaging and inspiring events aimed at honouring the contribution of Women. All the Divisions under this railway zone are organising the events to foster a spirit of inclusivity and empowerment with this year’s theme of Accelerating action for gender equality.
Moreover, the Bengaluru Division will operate Bengaluru-Mysuru Malgudi Express with an all women crew. Another train between Mysuru and Jaipur will also be entirely staffed by women employees of the railways. This recognises the role of women breaking barriers and contributing across all levels of the organisation.

The Telangana Government has convened an all-party meeting of Members of Parliaments from the state today to resolve pending issues between the state and the Centre. The meeting is scheduled at 11 AM, which will be chaired by Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka. The state Cabinet also approved an all-party meeting on the delimitation of parliamentary constituencies to ensure that the state does not suffer any injustice in the exercise. The Deputy Chief Minister has called every MP over the phone and invited them to the meeting.

Union Information and Broadcasting and Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw will be laying the foundation stone to the GigaFactory at Divitipally in Mahabubnagar district in Telangana. The first unit of the factory is the part of the Lithium-ion Cell manufacturing by the Industrial and automotive battery major, Amara Raja Batteries. The plant makes Lithium-ion battery packs specifically suited for Indian conditions and will supply to EV manufacturers and stationary energy storage applications. The minister will be visiting Battery Pack facilities also on the occasion.

महाराष्ट्र के मुख्यमंत्री देवेंद्र फडणवीस ने कल आश्वासन दिया कि शहर की परिवहन व्यवस्था को मजबूत करने के लिए मुंबई के मेट्रो नेटवर्क का विस्तार तेजी से हो रहा है। राज्य विधानसभा को संबोधित करते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि देश का सबसे लंबा भूमिगत मेट्रो कॉरिडोर, 3, जून 2025 तक चालू हो जाएगा। इस क्षेत्र की सभी मेट्रो परियोजनाओं के अगले तीन वर्षों में पूरा होने की उम्मीद है।

कार्यक्रम में उपस्थित मंत्री शशि पांजा ने कहा कि महिला सशक्तिकरण की प्रक्रिया को और अधिक बल मिलना चाहिए तथा पुरुषों को महिलाओं का सम्मान करने के लिए जागरूक होना चाहिए। उन्होंने कहा कि राज्य सरकार ने शिक्षा तथा वित्तीय सहायता के माध्यम से महिलाओं को सशक्त बनाने के लिए कन्याश्री जैसी कई कल्याणकारी योजनाएं शुरू की हैं।

meisner was at the forefront of the musical revolution that began in Los
Angeles, in the late 1960s. besides playing bass Meisner also wrote and
sang many of eagles hits , Meisner’s falsetto voice was so distinctive it
became a defining part not only of the Eagles but the entire California
sound. Randy was born on March 8, 1946, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.
