Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone for the new building for the Central Ayurveda Research Institute at Rohini, New Delhi yesterday virtually. The new state-of-the-art building will be constructed at the cost of around 185 crore rupees. The 2.92 acre facility will combine tradition and innovation, offering new opportunities for holistic healing, specialized clinics, and skill development. In his address, Mr Modi emphasised the government’s focus on making healthcare accessible to the poorest of the poor. Prime Minister said that the government is also promoting traditional Indian medicine systems like AYUSH and Ayurveda. He said that over the past decade, the AYUSH system has expanded to more than 100 countries. Mr Modi highlighted that the first World Health Organization (WHO) institution related to traditional medicine is being established in India. He added that a few weeks ago, he inaugurated the second phase of the All India Institute of Ayurveda. Prime Minister said India has potential to become the world’s health and wellness capital. Mr Modi said that the day is not far when, the world will adopt “Heal in India” as a mantra like “Make in India.”

The Commission of Air Quality Management (CAQM) Sub-Committee on Graded Response Action Plan GRAP, has revoked Stage-III of revised GRAP in the entire National Capital Region with immediate effect. However, all actions under Stages II and I (one) will remain invoked. They will be implemented, intensified, monitored and reviewed by all agencies concerned in the entire NCR to ensure that the Air Quality Index levels do not rise further in the coming days.
While comprehensively reviewing the overall air quality parameters of Delhi-NCR, the Sub-Committee observed that owing to the favourable meteorological conditions and continuous rains since early morning, the AQI of Delhi has been continuously improving. The AQI has been recorded as 335 at 5 PM and the forecast suggests that the AQI levels to further go down. It added, there is a likelihood of the average AQI of Delhi to remain in “Poor” category in the coming days owing to the favourable meteorological conditions.

Cold wave conditions continue to sweep North India. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that minimum temperatures in Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad are likely to witness a gradual fall of 4-5 degrees Celsius in the coming 4-5 days. IMD has forecast heavy rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in isolated parts of Himachal Pradesh today. Dense fog conditions are likely to prevail in Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Sikkim, Bihar, Jharkhand, and the northeastern regions during the night and morning hours for the next 2 days. IMD said there will be no significant change in minimum temperatures across northwest, central, and western India during the next 3-4 days.

The State Tourism Minister R.Rajendran inaugurated the 22nd Indian Dance Festival at Mamallapuram yesterday. The month long Indian Dance Festival will run till the 21st of the month. The State Government is also planning for a 20 Crore conference hall with state of the art facilities and novel amenities. Last year over 28 crore people had visited Tamilnadu Over 89 thousand visitors had witnessed this dance festival in 2023 and in 2024 crossed over one lakh . This year the count is expected to increase. The Indian Dance Festival celebrates India’s classical dance heritage with performances of Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Odissi, Kathakali, Mohiniyattam and Assamese dance.

Renowned Kannada writer and a celebrated figure in Kannada literary scene Dr Na D’Souza passed away at the age of 87 in Mangaluru yesterday. His novels, short stories, essays and plays delved into social justice, human rights and values. Many of his literary works were adopted into films. Dr D’Souza was honoured with Sahitya Akademi award for his valuable contribution to Kannada literature. He presided over the 80th Akhila Bharatiya Kannada Sahitya Sammelana held in Madikeri. Kadina Benki, Dweepa, Baluvali and Antharya were some of the parallel cinemas based on the novels of Na D’Souza. The renowned Kannada writer’s mortal remains will be kept for public viewing today and the last rites will be performed tomorrow.

He will virtually inaugurate the fourth Railway Station in and around Hyderabad. The Charlapalli Railway Terminal Stations in the Medchal-Malkajgiri District of Telangana has been developed as a new coaching terminal along with provision of second entry with a cost of over 400 crore rupees. This environment-friendly terminal has provided good passenger amenities and is expected to ease congestion on the existing Stations in the city including Secunderabad, Hyderabad and Kacheguda.

He was a trumpet virtuoso and improviser, building on the virtuosic style of Roy Eldridge[3] but adding layers of harmonic and rhythmic complexity previously unheard in jazz. His combination of musicianship, showmanship, and wit made him a leading popularizer of the new music called bebop. His beret and horn-rimmed spectacles, scat singing, bent horn, pouched cheeks, and light-hearted personality have made him an enduring icon.

त्यागराज (अंग्रेज़ी: Tyagaraja ; जन्म- 4 मई, 1767, तंजावुर, तमिलनाडु; मृत्यु- 6 जनवरी, 1847) प्रसिद्ध संगीतज्ञ थे। वे ‘कर्नाटक संगीत’ के महान् ज्ञाता तथा भक्तिमार्ग के कवि थे। इन्होंने भगवान श्रीराम को समर्पित भक्ति गीतों की रचना की थी। उनके सर्वश्रेष्ठ गीत अक्सर धार्मिक आयोजनों में गाए जाते हैं। त्यागराज ने समाज एवं साहित्य के साथ-साथ कला को भी समृद्ध किया था। उनकी विद्वता उनकी हर कृति में झलकती है, हालांकि ‘पंचरत्न’ कृति को उनकी सर्वश्रेष्ठ रचना कहा जाता है। त्यागराज के जीवन का कोई भी पल श्रीराम से जुदा नहीं था। वह अपनी कृतियों में भगवान राम को मित्र, मालिक, पिता और सहायक बताते थे।

हिन्दी फ़िल्म संगीत-यात्रा में कुछ ऐसे संगीतकार भी हुए हैं, जिनका नाम दूसरे कलाकारों की तुलना में संगीत-शास्त्र के लिहाज से प्रामाणिक धुन बनाने वालों के तौर पर ज़्यादा प्रासंगिक ढंग से याद किया जाता है.जयदेव एक ऐसे ही संगीतकार हुए, जिनकी पूरी रचना में शास्त्रीयता और लोक-परम्परा ने अग्रणी भूमिका निभाई है. जयदेव इसलिए भी अनूठे ढंग से याद किये जाते हैं कि उन्होंने शास्त्रीय अंग को अपनी कला में स्वीकृति दिलाते हुए मेलोडी को भी व्यापक तरजीह दी है। आज जय देव की पुन्यतिथि है। ऐ दिल है मुश्किल’ रचनेवाले ओ पी नैय्यर ‘लग जा गले कि फिर मुलाकात हो, न हो…’ इन गीतों में उन्ही का संगीत है।

1959 – कपिल देव, भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम के पूर्व कप्तान।
आज भारत को पहला क्रिकेट विश्वकप दिलाने वाले हरफनमौला खिलाड़ी क्रिकेटर कपिल देव का भी जन्म दिन है। आज ही के दिन 1959 में उनका जन्म हुआ था। कपिल देव का खेल और उनके आँकड़े इस बात के प्रमाण हैं। कपिल देव का जन्म एक लकड़ी व्यापारी के यहाँ हरियाणा में हुआ था। कपिल देव ने सन् 1975 में प्रथम श्रेणी क्रिकेट में प्रवेश किया। उन्होंने सन् 1978 में पाकिस्तान में प्रथम टेस्ट मैच खेला। कपिल देव ने 20 वर्ष की उम्र में ही एक हज़ार बनाने तथा 100 विकेट लेने का नया कीर्तिमान स्थापित किया है। यह कीर्तिमान केवल एक साल और 109 दिन में ही बना है। वे विस्डेन द्वारा वर्ष 2002 में ‘सदी के भारतीय क्रिकेटर’ चुने गये। अपनी आत्मकथा ‘बाई गॉड्स डिक्री’ में भी उन्होंने क्रिकेट के कई गन सिखाये। वे 10 माह के लिये भारतीय क्रिकेट टीम के प्रशिक्षक भी रहे।

आज बीसवीं शती के सबसे सशक्त लेखकों में से एक कमलेश्वर की जयंती है। (जन्म- 6 जनवरी, 1932; मृत्यु- 27 जनवरी, 2007) हैं। कहानी, उपन्यास, पत्रकारिता, स्तंभ लेखन, फ़िल्म पटकथा जैसी अनेक विधाओं में उन्होंने अपनी लेखन प्रतिभा का परिचय दिया। फ़िल्म और टेलीविजन के लिए लेखन के क्षेत्र में भी कमलेश्वर को काफ़ी सफलता मिली है। उन्होंने सारा आकाश, आँधी, अमानुष और मौसम जैसी फ़िल्मों के अलावा ‘मि. नटवरलाल’, ‘द बर्निंग ट्रेन’, ‘राम बलराम’ जैसी फ़िल्मों सहित 99 हिंदी फ़िल्मों का लेखन किया है। कमलेश्वर भारतीय दूरदर्शन के पहले स्क्रिप्ट लेखक के रूप में भी जाने जाते हैं। उन्होंने टेलीविजन के लिए कई सफल धारावाहिक लिखे हैं जिनमें ‘चंद्रकांता’, ‘युग’, ‘बेताल पचीसी’, ‘आकाश गंगा’, ‘रेत पर लिखे नाम’ आदि प्रमुख हैं। उपन्यासकार के रूप में ‘कितने पाकिस्तान’ ने इन्हें सर्वाधिक ख्याति प्रदान की और इन्हें एक कालजयी साहित्यकार बना दिया।

मशहूर नाटककार और सिनेमा, टेलीविजन की दुनिया के पटकथा लेखक विजय तेंदुलकर की आज जयंती है. साहित्य की दुनिया में विजय तेंदुलकर की कलम बड़े-बड़े कलमकारों की बोलती बंद कर देती है। उन्होंने अपनी कलम से लीक से हटकर ऐसी रचनाएं लिख डाली जो सदा के लिए अमर हो गई। विजय का जन्म 6 जनवरी 1928 को महाराष्ट्र के कोल्हापुर में हुआ। विजय ही ऐसे लेखक थे जिन्होंने मराठी थिएटर को एक नई ऊंचाइयां दीं. कहा जाता है कि उनके बहुचर्चित नाटक ‘घासीराम कोतवाल’ का छह हजार से ज्यादा बार मंचन हो चुका 1961 में उनका लिखा हुआ नाटक ‘गिद्ध’ खासा विवादास्पद रहा. ‘ढाई पन्ने’, ‘सन्नाटा’ कोर्ट चालू आहे’, ‘घासीराम कोतवाल’ और ‘सखाराम बाइंडर’ विजय तेंदुलकर के ..मशहूर नाटक है।

1918- भरत व्यास, बॉलीवुड के प्रसिद्ध गीतकार
भरत व्यास (जन्म: 6 जनवरी 1918 – मृत्यु: 4 जुलाई 1982) हिन्दी फ़िल्मों के प्रसिद्ध गीतकार थे। इनका जन्म 6 जनवरी 1918 को बीकानेर में हुआ था उन्होंने 17-18 वर्ष की उम्र तक लेखन शुरू कर दिया था। उनका लिखा पहला गीत था- आओ वीरो हिलमिल गाए वंदे मातरम। 1942 के बाद वे बम्बई आ गए उन्होंने कुछ फ़िल्मों में भी भूमिका निभाई लेकिन प्रसिद्धि गीत लेखन से मिली। उन्होंने दो आँखे बारह हाथ, नवरंग, बूँद जो बन गई मोती जैसी फ़िल्मों में गीत लिखे हैं।
