In Telangana, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) party officially declared its candidates for all 17 Lok Sabha constituencies for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections -2024. The announcement of Gaddam Srinivas Yadav for the Hyderabad Lok Sabha seat marks the culmination of the candidate selection process. It is understood that BRS president and former Chief Minister Chandrasekhar Rao explored all avenues for ‘social equity’ in the selection process. The party leaders assert that this strategic selection of candidates with considerable grassroots support would enhance the party’s prospects, positioning them favourably against rival parties Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). The BRS won nine Lok Sabha seats in 2019, while five sitting MPs of the party recently deserted the party and joined other parties.

The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) rescued five fishermen from a sinking Indian fishing boat at mid-sea, approximately 50 km from Porbandar yesterday. The ICG’s action came in response to an SOS call. ICG Ship C-16 quickly arrived in the vicinity of the fishing boat in a short time and launched the rescue and support mission. As the fishing boat was already 75 per cent flooded, it sank 12 km off Porbandar. The ICG ship rescued all five crew members and medical support was provided to them.
Earlier on March 20, the Indian Coast Guard carried out a rescue operation of eight crew members from a flooded boat after receiving a distress call off the coast of Kundapura in Karnataka.

पाकिस्तान ने लगभग दस लाख अफगान शरणार्थियों को वापस अफगानिस्तान भेजने के लिए अपने प्रत्यावर्तन अभियान के दूसरे चरण को शुरू करने की तैयारी शुरू कर दी है। सरकार ने जिला अधिकारियों और पुलिस को देश भर में अफगान नागरिकों के ठिकानों का पता लगाने के आदेश दिए हैं। एक अधिकारी ने बताया कि अफगान नागरिक कार्ड (एसीसी) धारकों का पता लगाने में तेजी लाने के निर्देश जारी किए गए हैं। संयुक्त राष्ट्र शरणार्थी उच्चायुक्त के अनुसार, पाकिस्तान में 20 लाख से अधिक अफगान शरणार्थी हैं। अगस्त 2021 में अफगानिस्तान में तालिबान के कब्जे के बाद से बड़ी संख्या में लोगों ने पाकिस्तान में शरण ली थी।

संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद ने गजा में तत्काल युद्धविराम का आह्वान किया है, क्योंकि अमरीका ने अपनी पिछले रूख से हटकर इस बार वीटो नहीं किया है। सुरक्षा परिषद ने सभी बंधकों की तत्काल और बिना शर्त रिहाई की भी मांग की। कई असफल प्रयासों के बाद अक्टूबर में युद्ध शुरू होने के बाद यह पहली बार है कि परिषद ने युद्धविराम का आह्वान किया है।

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar today called on Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. During the meeting, both the leaders exchanged views on the Indo-Pacific and West Asia. In a social media post, Dr Jaishankar said, his positive sentiments on India’s relationship have always been a source of strength for our ties. He said, India valued the Singapore Prime Minister’s perspectives on the current state of the world. Dr Jaishankar is on a three-day visit to Singapore. Earlier, the External Affairs Minister also met the Foreign Affairs Minister of Singapore Vivian Balakrishnan. During the meeting, they reviewed the progress of India and Singapore’s bilateral cooperation.

The shutters of the Poondi Reservoir which supplies water to Chennai are being repaired. Around 1838 million cubic feet of water will be released to carry out repairs to the shutters of the reservoir. Everyday 300 cubic feet of water per second is being released and drained into the Red Hills reservoir. The repair work will start when the reservoir reaches its dead storage level by mid May. Officials are planning to complete the work before the arrival of Krishna water from Kandaleru.Presently they are covered with sandbags and alternate methods.

The rapid digitalisation of finance brought a number of opportunities as well as challenges, underscoring the need for a cohesive regulatory framework that should adapt to the pace of technological change said fintech experts at the two day international conference. The digitalisation of finance has led to the development of fintech which empowers finance with technology. However there are limited laws relating to financial aspects and there is a need to address fraud and scams. There is a huge avenue to explore legal talent in digital finance.

To improve voter turnout in Bengaluru, the Election officer and Chief Commissioner of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Tushar Girinath held discussion yesterday with Resident Welfare Associations representatives. He called upon them to motivate their residents to exercise their voting rights during the Lok Sabha election. The interaction in virtual mode dwelt upon the process to make election a success by large scale voting. There are four Lok Sabha constituencies spread across 28 Assembly seats in Bengaluru. Tushar Girinath offered all the assistance and information for the convenience of the electorate. He appealed to them to convince the voters the importance of electoral participation. He asked them to furnish details of PWD and senior voters above the age of 85 so that postal ballots could be organised for them. He also informed that all basic essential facilities will be provided at the polling booths. There will be toilets, drinking water, sitting places, wheelchairs and ramps at the booths and the queue system will be systematic.

Heritage activists and daily morning walkers expressed concern on the damage to the colour of the Archaeological Museum building in public gardens. The activists contest the decolouring of the Heritage building is due to burning of trash or waste regularly.They have pointed out that Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation does not regularly collect garbage. Consequently, Museum staff resort to burning the waste, disregarding the harm it causes to the building. Apart from damaging the building’s colour, this practice inconveniences walkers who seek fresh air during their early morning walks, as they are forced to inhale smoke instead. Dr Saxena, a regular morning walker, said the walkers in the famous garden raised the issue of burning of trash regularly with the concerned department, but unfortunately, there has been no response.

राजधानी के नरेला इलाके में स्थित वेयर हाउस और गोदाम में कल सुबह भीषण आग लग गई। इस क्षेत्र में बड़ी संख्या में बड़े-बड़े वेयरहाउस बने हुए हैं। आग के कारण करोडों का सामान जलकर राख हो गया। दमकल विभाग के निदेशक अतुल गर्ग के अनुसार काफी मशक्कत के बाद शाम चार बजकर 20 मिनट पर आग पर काबू पा लिया गया। उन्होंने बताया कि कंट्रोल रूम को सुबह छह बजे आग लगने की सूचना मिली। आग इतनी भयानक थी कि घटनास्थल पर दमकल की 64 गाड़ियां को भेजा गया। श्री गर्ग ने बताया कि इस घटना में कोई हताहत नहीं हुआ है।

राजधानी के पूर्वी दिल्ली के मंडावली इलाके में होली समारोह के दौरान हाईटेंशन तार से बिजली का झटका लगने से छह लोग घायल हो गए। एक महिला समेत तीन लोगों की हालत गंभीर बताई जा रही है। स्थानीय पुलिस, एम्बुलेंस और फायर ब्रिगेड के अधिकारी तुरंत मौके पर पहुंचे और घायलों को सफदरजंग अस्पताल ले जाया गया।

राजस्व खुफिया निदेशालय (डीआरआई) ने सोमवार को मुंबई अंतरराष्ट्रीय हवाई अड्डे पर सिएरा लियोन की एक महिला को गिरफ्तार किया, जिसके पास 19.79 करोड़ रुपये मूल्य की 1,979 ग्राम कोकीन थी। एक अधिकारी ने बताया कि केन्या की राजधानी नैरोबी से मुंबई आई इस महिला को एक गुप्त सूचना पर रविवार को हिरासत में ले लिया गया था। अधिकारी ने कहा कि सूचना के आधार पर उसके सामानों की जांच की गई जिससे उन्हें कोकीन बरामद हुआ। डीआरआई अधिकारी ने कहा कि जब पाउडर को पकड़ने वाली टीम के साथ फील्ड किट का उपयोग करके परीक्षण किया गया, तो यह कोकीन पाया गया। उन्होंने कहा कि टीम ने अवैध बाजार से 19.79 करोड़ रुपये मूल्य की 1,979 ग्राम कोकीन जब्त की। अधिकारी ने बताया कि महिला यात्री को गिरफ्तार कर न्यायिक हिरासत में भेज दिया गया है। तस्करी नेटवर्क की आगे की जांच जारी है।

नवी मुंबई की वनस्पतियों और जीवों की सुरक्षा के उद्देश्य से, नवी मुंबई के पर्यावरणविदों ने नगर निगम आयुक्त डॉ. कैलास शिंदे से यह सुनिश्चित करने का आग्रह किया है कि शहर के हरित क्षेत्र को कोई और नुकसान न हो और इसे बचाया जाए। हाल ही में शहर और औद्योगिक विकास निगम (सिडको) से नवी मुंबई नगर निगम (एनएमएमसी) में नागरिक निकाय के आयुक्त के रूप में स्थानांतरित हुए श्री शिंदे ने कार्यभार संभालने के पहले ही दिन बताया कि वह शहर के सामने आने वाले मुद्दों से परिचित हैं। पर्यावरणविद् ने उन्हें सिडको के कड़े विरोध के बीच फ्लेमिंगो स्थलों, अर्थात् आर्द्रभूमि के संरक्षण के एनएमएमसी के पूर्व वादे की याद दिलाई। एनएमएमसी को सिडको से सभी शेष खुले स्थानों को लेना चाहिए और उन्हें हरित क्षेत्रों में विकसित करना चाहिए। कार्यकर्ता ने कहा और नागरिक प्रमुख से आग्रह किया कि वे एनएमएमसी के लिए भूखंड को बरकरार रखने के लिए सिडको और राज्य सरकार से आग्रह करें। खुली जगहों के संबंध में, एक पर्यावरण कार्यकर्ता ने बताया कि 232 उद्यानों और 91 खेल के मैदानों के बावजूद, एनएमएमसी क्षेत्र में खुली जगह दयनीय है।

कोलकाता में कल दोपहर मां फ्लाईओवर पर एक मोटर साइकिल सवार की मौत हो गई थी। 23 वर्षीय सैकत मल्लिक फ्लाईओवर की साइडवॉल से टकरा गया था। पुलिस ने जानकारी दी है कि उसने हेलमेट नहीं पहना था। दुर्घटना के बाद पीडित को शहर स्थित चित्तरंजन नेशनल मेडिकल कॉलेज ले जाया गया। लेकिन डॉक्टरों ने उसे मृत घोषित कर दिया। सैकत मल्लिक कोलकाता के लेदर कॉम्प्लेक्स थाना क्षेत्र का रहने वाला था।

हिन्दी की सुप्रसिद्ध कवयित्री महादेवी वर्मा की आज जयंती है। महादेवी वर्मा की गिनती हिन्दी कविता के छायावादी युग के चार प्रमुख स्तंभ सुमित्रानन्दन पन्त, जयशंकर प्रसाद और सूर्यकान्त त्रिपाठी निराला के साथ की जाती है। आधुनिक हिन्दी कविता में महादेवी वर्मा एक महत्त्वपूर्ण शक्ति के रूप में उभरीं। महादेवी वर्मा ने खड़ी बोली हिन्दी को कोमलता और मधुरता से संसिक्त कर सहज मानवीय संवेदनाओं की अभिव्यक्ति का द्वार खोला, विरह को दीपशिखा का गौरव दिया, व्यष्टिमूलक मानवतावादी काव्य के चिंतन को प्रतिस्थापित किया। महादेवी वर्मा के गीतों का नाद-सौंदर्य, पैनी उक्तियों की व्यंजना शैली अन्यत्र दुर्लभ है।
महादेवी वर्मा ने 1919 में इलाहाबाद में ‘क्रॉस्थवेट कॉलेज’ से शिक्षा का प्रारंभ करते हुए महादेवी वर्मा ने 1932 में इलाहाबाद विश्वविद्यालय से संस्कृत में एम.ए. की उपाधि प्राप्त की। तब तक उनके दो काव्य संकलन ‘नीहार’ और ‘रश्मि’ प्रकाशित होकर चर्चा में आ चुके थे।

महादेवी वर्मा ने अपने प्रयत्नों से इलाहाबाद में ‘प्रयाग महिला विद्यापीठ’ की स्थापना की। इसकी वे प्रधानाचार्य एवं कुलपति भी रहीं। महादेवी वर्मा पाठशाला में हिन्दी-अध्यापक से प्रभावित होकर ब्रजभाषा में समस्या पूर्ति भी करने लगीं। फिर तत्कालीन खड़ी बोली की कविता से प्रभावित होकर खड़ी बोली में रोला और हरिगीतिका छन्दों में काव्य लिखना प्रारम्भ किया। उसी समय माँ से सुनी एक करुण कथा को लेकर सौ छन्दों में एक खण्डकाव्य भी लिख डाला। 1932 में उन्होंने महिलाओं की प्रमुख पत्रिका ‘चाँद’ का कार्यभार सँभाला। प्रयाग में अध्यापन कार्य से जुड़ने के बाद हिन्दी के प्रति गहरा अनुराग रखने के कारण महादेवी वर्मा दिनों-दिन साहित्यिक क्रियाकलापों से जुड़ती चली गईं।
महादेवी जी कवयित्री होने के साथ-साथ एक विशिष्ट गद्यकार थीं। ‘यामा’ में उनके प्रथम चार काव्य-संग्रहों की कविताओं का एक साथ संकलन हुआ है। ‘आधुनिक कवि-महादेवी’ में उनके समस्त काव्य से उन्हीं द्वारा चुनी हुई कविताएँ संकलित हैं। कवि के अतिरिक्त वे गद्य लेखिका के रूप में भी पर्याप्त ख्याति अर्जित कर चुकी हैं। ‘स्मृति की रेखाएं’ (1943 ई.) और ‘अतीत के चलचित्र’ (1941 ई.) उनकी संस्मरणात्मक गद्य रचनाओं के संग्रह हैं। ‘श्रृंखला की कड़ियाँ’ (1942 ई.) में सामाजिक समस्याओं, विशेषकर अभिशप्त नारी जीवन के जलते प्रश्नों के सम्बन्ध में लिखे उनके विचारात्मक निबन्ध संकलित हैं। रचनात्मक गद्य के अतिरिक्त ‘महादेवी का विवेचनात्मक गद्य’ में तथा ‘दीपशिखा’, ‘यामा’ और ‘आधुनिक कवि-महादेवी’ की भूमिकाओं में उनकी आलोचनात्मक प्रतिभा का भी पूर्ण प्रस्फुटन हुआ है।
