In Jammu and Kashmir, five army soldiers including a JCO were killed and five others injured in a terrorist attack in Kathua district of Jammu division yesterday. Akashvani Jammu Correspondent reports that the attack took place in the Badnota village in Machedi area of Billawar sub division of Kathua district. The injured soldiers have been shifted to Sub District Hospital Billawar for advanced treatment.

The terrorists threw a grenade and then opened fire with automatic weapons on the army vehicles that were on routine patrol duty on Machedi-Kindli-Malhar road last afternoon. The security forces retaliated, but the terrorists escaped from the spot. Elite soldiers group were air dropped in Mandli sector in the evening close to the attack site area. The deceased have been identified as Naib Subadar, Anant Singh, Head Constable Kamal Singh, Rifleman Anuj Singh, Rifleman Adarsh Singh and Naik Vinod Kumar. Further details are awaited.

मुंबई और महाराष्‍ट्र के कुछ भागों में मौसम विभाग ने अगले दो दिन के लिए मूसलाधार बारिश की चेतावनी जारी की है। मुंबई सहित राज्‍य के कई जिलों में कल तेज बारिश हुई। रायगढ, रत्‍नागिरी, सिंधुदुर्ग, पुणे, सतारा, कोलहापुर और बुलढाना जिलों के कुछ क्षेत्रों में बाढ जैसी स्थिति बनी हुई है। मौसम विभाग ने मुंबई, रायगढ और रत्‍नागिरी के लिए आज दौपहर एक बजे तक अत्‍यधिक तेज बारिश का रेड अलर्ट जारी किया है। मौसम विभाग के वरिष्‍ठ अधिकारी और वैज्ञानिक के. एस. होशलीकर ने बताया कि पुणे, सतारा, पालघर, सिंधुदुर्ग और ठाणे जिलों के लिए ऑरेंज अलर्ट जारी किया गया है।

In Assam, death toll due to flood related incidents has reached 72. The flood scenario of the State improved slightly but over 22 lakh people are still reeling under the deluge across 27 districts. More than 3100 villages of 91 revenue circles affected by flood and over 49000 hectares of crop areas have been damaged across the state. NDRF and SDRF teams rescued 218 people yesterday.

River Brahmaputra, Barak and all their tributaries are flowing above danger level. The flood damaged 127 roads and 2 bridge apart from other infrastructures yesterday.

The State Government has opened 245 Relief camps and 298 relief distribution centres. There are over 53 thousand people are in the relief camps.

पूर्वी नौसेना कमांड वायस एडमिरल राजेश पेंढारकर ने कल विशाखापट्टनम के समुद्री संदर्भ पुस्‍तकालय में कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता अनुभव केन्‍द्र का उद्घाटन किया। भारतीय नौसेना में अ‍त्‍या‍धुनिक प्रौद्योयोगिकी अपनाने के प्रयासों के तहत यह कदम उठाया गया है।

इस कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता अनुभव केन्‍द्र में नौसेना कर्मियों के लिए कृत्रिम बुद्धिमत्ता-एआई से जुडे अत्‍या‍धुनिक उपकरण उपलब्‍ध कराए गये हैं ताकि वे इस क्षेत्र में क्रांतिकारी प्रगति का लाभ उठा सकें। इस पहल का उद्देश्‍य सेना के सभी क्षेत्रों में ज्ञान, अनुभव और उसके प्रयोग को बढावा देना है।

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has named Gagan Narang, four time Olympian and 2012 Olympic Games men’s 10 meter Air Rifle bronze medalist, as the the Chef-de-Mission of the Indian contingent to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, starting from 26th July. He will replace MC Mary Kom.

The IOA President Dr. P.T. Usha yesterday said that Gagan Narang’s elevation from Deputy Chef-de-Mission’s position was an automatic choice in the wake of Mary Kom’s resignation. Dr. Usha further announced that India’s only women to win two Olympic medals, P.V. Sindhu, will be the female flag-bearer, alongside Table Tennis ace Achanta Sharath Kamal in the opening ceremony. Dr. Usha also said that she is confident that Indian athletes are well prepared to deliver the best results for the country in Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

CHENNAI METRO

Indian Institute of Technology -Madras has partnered with Tel Aviv University , Israel and KMCH -Research Foundation, Coimbatore, to offer a water quality course aiming at creating water literate citizens. This four month long course, offers hybrid mode through NPTEL online platform is ideal for final year science and engineering students and for those interested in water quality. As part of the course, students will conduct practical tests including surveys.

The Course organisers are working towards building a water map of India. Students also will receive a course completion certificate as part of their degree program. The registrations will close on July 20. A hybrid course on water quality and an approach to people’s water data, the course will deliver a comprehensive understanding of important aspects of water quality, analysis of key parameters and their impact on human health. The students will have the option to attend the lectures online or offline or in recorded form.

Air Intelligence Officers of Anna International Airport at Chennai intercepted a male passenger, who had arrived from Bangkok on the basis of an intelligence. On examination of the baggage carried by the passengers , 402 numbers of Exotic Wildlife species like Green Baby Iguana, Orange Baby Iguana,Yellow Baby Iguana, Blue Baby Iguana were concealed in carton boxes. Immediately on recovery of the boxes containing wildlife animals, officials from Wildlife Crime Control Bureau at Chennai were informed and the passenger was remanded to judicial custody. The live species were deported to Bangkok after being certified.

दिल्‍ली

राजधानी के दक्षिणी रिज में पेड़ों की अवैध कटाई के मद्देनजर दिल्ली सरकार की बनी फैक्ट फाइंडिंग कमेटी आज छतरपुर स्थित सार्क चौक का दौरा करेगी। फैक्ट फाइंडिंग कमेटी के सदस्‍य और दिल्‍ली सरकार में मंत्री सौरभ भारद्वाज ने बताया कि इस साइट पर दिल्‍ली विकास प्राधिकरण ने सड़क चौड़ीकरण के नाम पर लगभग एक हजार एक सौ पेड़ों को अवैध रूप से काटा था।

इस कमेटी में श्री भारद्वाज के अलावा दिल्‍ली सरकार के मंत्री आतिशी और इमरान हुसैन भी होंगे जो अपनी रिपोर्ट दिल्‍ली के पर्यावरण मंत्री गोपाल राय को सौंपेंगे। इस कमेटी की रिपोर्ट उच्‍च न्‍यायालय को भी पेश की जाएगी। इससे पहले सरकार ने उप राज्‍यपाल विनय कुमार सक्‍सेना पर आरोप लगाया था कि उनके मौखिक आदेश पर यह पेड़ काटे गए हैं।

बरसात के मौसम में डेंगू के मामलों को लेकर दिल्ली के स्‍वास्‍थ्‍य मंत्री सौरभ भारद्वाज ने कल सभी अस्पतालों के प्रमुख अधिकारियों के साथ समीक्षा बैठक की। श्री भारद्वाज ने बताया कि उन्‍होंने अस्पतालों में दवाइयों की उपलब्धता, डेंगू मरीजों के लिए बेड की व्यवस्था और अन्य तैयारियों की विस्तृत जानकारी ली। इसके अलावा उन्‍होंने डेंगू की रोकथाम के लिए आवश्यक कदम उठाने के कई निर्देश जारी किए हैं।

दिल्ली के उपराज्यपाल विनय कुमार सक्सेना ने मुख्य सचिव और शिक्षा विभाग को यह निर्देश दिया है कि वह पांच हजार शिक्षकों के तबादलों पर पुर्नविचार करें। शिक्षकों, शिक्षक संगठनों और भाजपा के सांसदों ने इस संबंध में श्री सक्सेना से मुलाकात की थी। सभी लोगों ने उपराज्यपाल से अनुरोध किया था कि वे इन शिक्षकों के तबादले पर रोक लगायें। इस प्रतिनिधी मण्डल में भाजपा सांसद मनोज तिवारी, योगेंद्र चंदोलिया, कमलजीत सहरावत और बांसुरी स्वराज मौजूद थी।

भारतीय जनसंचार संस्थान- आई०आई०एम०सी० ने अपने उर्दू पत्रकारिता पाठ्यक्रम के स्पॉट राउंड के तहत प्रवेश प्रक्रिया शुरू कर दी है। जिन अभियार्थियों का चयन उर्दू पत्रकारिता पाठ्यक्रम में पहले राउंड में नहीं हुआ था, वह अब स्पॉट राउंड के तहत संस्‍थान में दोबार दाखिले की कोशिश कर सकते हैं। आई०आई०एम०सी० ने बताया कि फॉर्म भरने की आखिरी तारीख 19 जुलाई है और प्रवेश परीक्षा 21 जुलाई को संस्‍थान के नई दिल्ली परिसर में आयोजित की जाएगी।

Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah directed senior officials to ensure immediate settlement of compensation as per SDRF norms for those facing loss of life, crop and property due to rains. He was speaking during a meeting of Deputy Commissioners and Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officers in Vidhana Soudha in Bengaluru yesterday. The Chief Minister said that 2225 villages and 2,038,334 persons are affected by floods and landslides. The state has received seven percent additional rains above normal. Due to excessive rainfall 2225 villages are facing flood situations. During pre monsoon rains 3714 houses were damaged. He pointed out that compensation to families of the farmers who committed suicide has to be settled immediately and should not be rejected due to minor technical reasons. Out of 1003 applications received for compensation from the families of farmers who committed suicide due to distress, the Government has paid compensations to 994 families. He told officials that 80 percent of the state population in Karnataka has BPL cards as against 40 percent in Tamilnadu. He told officials to cancel fake BPL cards.

महाराष्ट्र में हाल ही में हिट-एंड-रन की घटनाओं के बढते मामलों को देखते हुए मुख्यमंत्री एकनाथ शिंदे ने कहा है कि न्याय में इस तरह की चूक बर्दाश्त नहीं की जाएगी। सोशल मीडिया की पोस्‍ट में श्री शिंदे ने कहा कि यह बर्दाश्त नहीं किया जा सकता कि शक्तिशाली और प्रभावशाली लोग सिस्टम में हेरफेर करने के लिए अपने पद का दुरुपयोग करते हैं। सभी नागरिकों के लिए एक सुरक्षित महाराष्ट्र बनाने की अपनी प्रतिबद्धता पर जोर देते हुए, श्री शिंदे ने कहा कि किसी भी व्यक्ति को, चाहे वो अमीर हो, प्रभावशाली हो, या किसी भी पार्टी से जुड़े नौकरशाहों या मंत्रियों से संबंधित हों, किसी भी तरह की छूट नहीं दी जाएगी।

प्रत्येक नागरिक के जीवन को कीमती बताते हुए, मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि उन्होंने राज्य पुलिस विभाग को इन मामलों को अत्यंत गंभीरता से संभालने और न्याय सुनिश्चित करने का निर्देश दिया है।

मुंबई की एक अदालत ने वर्ली बीएमडब्ल्यू हिट-एंड-रन मामले में शिवसेना नेता राजेश शाह को जमानत दे दी है। अदालत द्वारा उन्हें 14 दिन की न्यायिक हिरासत में भेजे जाने के बाद उन्‍होंने जमानत के लिए आवेदन किया था। उन्हें पंद्रह हजार रुपये के मुचलके पर जमानत दी गई। यह मामला कथित तौर पर राजेश शाह के बेटे मिहिर से जुड़ा है, जिसने रविवार सुबह वर्ली इलाके में बाइक सवार जोड़े को टक्कर मार दी थी। इस दुर्घटना में 45 वर्षीय महिला कावेरी नखवा की मौत हो गई, जबकि उनके पति प्रदीप घायल हो गए।

भारत के चुनाव आयोग ने राष्ट्रवादी कांग्रेस पार्टी (शरदचंद्र पवार) को आगामी महाराष्ट्र विधानसभा चुनावों के मद्देनजर जनता से स्वैच्छिक योगदान स्वीकार करने की अनुमति दे दी है। पार्टी की कार्यकारी अध्यक्ष सुप्रिया सुले के नेतृत्व में पार्टी के आठ सदस्यीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल ने सोमवार को आयोग से मुलाकात के बाद यह सूचना जारी की।

महाराष्ट्र विधानमंडल के दोनों सदनों की कार्यवाही सोमवार को स्थगित कर दी गई क्योंकि मुंबई और राज्य के अन्य हिस्सों में भारी बारिश के कारण कई विधायक और अन्य अधिकारी विधान भवन नहीं पहुंच पाए।

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has said the government will set up a Skill Development University in the state, which will help youth to acquire required skills to improve their employment opportunities. Following a representation from industrialists on the Skill University during his visit to the Engineers’ Staff College at Gachibowli, he directed officials and industry leaders to come up with proposals on Skill Development University a couple of days before the Assembly Session to be held during this month. He further said the government will take a decision within 24 hours after receiving the proposals.

पश्चिम बंगाल सरकार ने राज्य के आठ केंद्रीय सुधार गृहों में टेलीमेडिसिन सेवा शुरू की है। बरुईपुर, दमदम, बहरामपुर, मेदिनीपुर, बर्धमान, बालुरघाट और जलपाईगुड़ी केंद्रीय जेलों में यह सेवा उपलब्ध है। भविष्य में सभी 60 जेलों या सुधार गृहों में यह सेवा उपलब्ध होगी। सरकार ने बताया कि ई-मेडिसिन विशेषज्ञ डॉक्टर द्वारा दी जाएगी। जेल में बंद कैदी और संबंधित जेल के एक डॉक्टर को विशेषज्ञ डॉक्टर की सेवा मिलेगी। सभी दवाएँ जेल प्राधिकरण द्वारा उपलब्ध कराई जाएँगी और अगर अस्पताल में भर्ती होने की ज़रूरत पड़ती है तो सरकार उसका भी ध्यान रखेगी।

आज भारतीय सिनेमा के फ़िल्म निर्माता-निर्देशक और अभिनेता गुरु दत्त की जयंती है। ‘गुरु दत्त’ का वास्तविक नाम “वसंथ कुमार शिवशंकर पादुकोण” था। गुरु दत्त अपने आप में एक संपूर्ण कलाकार बनने की पूरी पात्रता रखते थे। वे विश्व स्तरीय फ़िल्म निर्माता और निर्देशक थे। साथ ही में उनकी साहित्यिक रुचि और संगीत की समझ की झलक हमें उनकी सभी फ़िल्मों में दिखती ही है। वे एक अच्छे नर्तक भी थे, क्योंकि उन्होंने अपने फ़िल्मी जीवन का आगाज़ किया था, प्रभात फ़िल्म्स में एक कोरियोग्राफ़र की हैसियत से। अभिनय कभी उनकी पहली पसंद नहीं रही, मगर उनके सरल, संवेदनशील और नैसर्गिक अभिनय का लोहा सभी मानते थे। उन्होंने प्यासा के लिये पहले दिलीप कुमार का चयन किया था। वे एक रचनात्मक लेखक भी थे और उन्होंने पहले पहले ‘इल्लस्ट्रेटेड वीकली ऑफ इंडिया’ में कहानियां भी लिखी थीं।

वर्ष 1970 में ही प्रदर्शित फ़िल्म ‘दस्तक’ में उनके लाजवाब अभिनय के लिए वह सर्वश्रेष्ठ अभिनेता के ‘राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार’ से सम्मानित किया गया। वर्ष 1972 में प्रदर्शित फ़िल्म ‘कोशिश’ में उनके अभिनय का नया आयाम दर्शकों को देखने को मिला। फ़िल्म ‘कोशिश’ में संजीव कुमार ने गूंगे की भूमिका निभायी। बगैर संवाद बोले सिर्फ आंखों और चेहरे के भाव से दर्शकों को सब कुछ बता देना संजीव कुमार की अभिनय प्रतिभा का ऐसा उदाहरण था, जिसे शायद ही कोई अभिनेता दोहरा पाए। ‘खिलौना’, ‘दस्तक’ और ‘कोशिश’ जैसी फ़िल्मों की कामयाबी से संजीव कुमार शोहरत की बुंलदियों पर जा बैठे। इनके द्वारा अभिनीत प्रसिद्ध फ़िल्मों में ‘शोले’, ‘अंगूर’, ‘त्रिशूल’, ‘पारस’, ‘अनामिका’, ‘मनचली’, ‘शतरंज के खिलाड़ी’, ‘सीता और गीता’, ‘आंधी’, ‘मौसम’, ‘विधाता’, ‘नया दिन नयी रात’ आदि हैं।

He won the National Film Award for Best Male Playback Singer for his debut film songs “Ennavale Adi Ennavale” and “Uyirum Neeye”. These songs were composed by A. R. Rahman, with whom Unnikrishnan gave most of his memorable songs. He is the first male playback singer to be awarded the national award for a Tamil song.

In 2014, he received the Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi Award for Classical Music.
