President Droupadi Murmu will inaugurate the first National Mediation Conference in New Delhi today. Chief Justice of India Justice Sanjiv Khanna and Union Minister for Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal will also address the conference. The event is being organised by Office of the Attorney General of India in association with the Ministry of Law and Justice.
Talking to media in New Delhi, Attorney General R Venkataramani said that the conference will bring together a large number of mediation and arbitration institutions so that they can discuss and share best practices with regard to the mediation process.

Home Minister Amit Shah has said the Amritsar Zonal Unit of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) dismantled a drug diversion cartel through a four-month-long operation across four states, seizing drugs worth 547 crore rupees and arresting 15 people. In a social media post, Mr. Shah congratulated the NCB, saying India is cracking down on drug cartels with ruthless aggression. The Directorate of Public Health along with World Health Organisation has initiated a lab based sentinel survey to determine the prevalence of typhoid in the city. The results will help the authorities decide whether interventions, such as vaccines are required. Typhoid fever caused by Salmonella Typhi bacteria spreads through contaminated food and water with symptoms such as prolonged fever, fatigue and abdominal issues. The Director of Public Health said that not all cases are notified by hospitals and labs. He said that the survey will give an estimate and help in making policy decisions about the need for a vaccine. The survey was undertaken on Thursday in which three government hospitals and three private hospitals will send samples to the public health department for the survey.

In Telangana, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow alert for thunderstorm in 20 out of 33 districts of the state till Wednesday. The weather agency said, fluctuating weather conditions may continue in several parts of the state. अन्तरराष्ट्रीय सूर्य दिवस, सौर ऊर्जा के उपयोग को बढ़ावा देने के लिये प्रत्येक वर्ष ‘3 मई’ को अन्तरराष्ट्रीय सूर्य दिवस भी मनाया जाता है। यह तारीख सौर ऊर्जा के उपयोग को बढ़ावा देने के लिए याद की जाती है। देश में ऊर्जा की जरूरतों पूरा करने के लिए केंद्र सरकार ने ‘सूर्योदय योजना’ शुरू की है। इसका उद्देश्य देश में एक करोड़ घरों की छतों पर सौर ऊर्जा प्रणाली स्थापित करना है। सूरज की रोशनी से बनी इस बिजली के उपयोग से दैनिक जीवन में बिजली की खपत को कम किया जा सकता है।
इसके अलावा पीएम कुसुम महाभियान के जरिए किसानों को बंजर जमीन पर सौर ऊर्जा पैदा कर आत्मनिर्भर बनाने की पहलभी की गई। भारत के हर राज्य में कम से कम एक सौर शहर की स्थापना पर काम किया जा रहा है। उत्तर प्रदेश के मिर्जापुर में सबसे बड़े 75 मेगावाट (101 मेगावाट डीसी) क्षमता के सौर ऊर्जा संयंत्र की शुरुआत की गई। इस उपलक्ष्य में हमने हमारे साप्ताहिक कार्यक्रम पब्लिक स्पीक में ,सौर उर्जा से जुड़े श्रोताओं के प्रश्नों के उत्तर दिय़े थे । आइये कुछ प्रश्नो के जवाब सुनते हैं-

Writer, actor, and prominent social worker Shakuntala Paranjpye passed away this day at the age of 94 She fought against raising the age of marriage for girls and tried to get a controversial bill advocating sterilisation of the unfit, passed by Parliament She was also awarded Padma Bhushan in recognition of her pioneering work in the field of family planning. Besides this she was also an internationally acclaimed film director and scriptwriter. She died on 3 May 2000.
शकुंतला परांजपे (अंग्रेज़ी: Shakuntala Paranjpye, जन्म- 17 जनवरी, 1906; मृत्यु- 3 मई, 2000) भारतीय लेखिका, अभिनेत्री और एक प्रमुख सामाजिक कार्यकर्ता थीं।

आज ही के दिन 3 मई 1981 में जन्म हुआ था भारतीय फिल्म अभिनेत्री नरगिस दत्त का। उन्होंने इंडस्ट्री को एक से बढ़कर एक कई बेहतरीन फिल्में दी है। उनका नाम आते ही जहन में फिल्म मदर इंडिया की महबूब खान की तस्वीर बन जाती है। महज 28 साल की उम्र में उन्होंने सुनील दत्त और राजेन्द्र कुमार की मां का किरदार निभाकर हर किसी को चौंका दिया था। इस फ़िल्म को ऑस्कर के लिए नामित किया गया था।
गीत- मदर इंडिया वैसे तो 1935 में उन्होंने 6 साल की उम्र में अपने फिल्मी सफर की शुरुआत फिल्म ‘तलाश-ए-हक’ से की थी। नरगिस ने तीन दशकों तक फिल्मों में काम किया है। साल 1942 में नरगिस को फिल्म ‘तमन्ना’ से बॉलीवुड में असली पहचान मिलनी शुरू हुई थी। 1943 में नरगिस को उनका पहला लीड रोल मिला था। फिल्म ‘तकदीर’ में अभिनेत्री को अपनी जिंदगी का पहला मेन लीड रोल मिला था। लेकिन यह फिल्म नरगिस को ज्यादा सफलता नहीं दिला पाई। 1949 में आई फिल्म ‘अंदाज’ और ‘बरसात’ ने नरगिस के फिल्मी करियर को नई दिशा दी। इस फिल्म ने उन्हें बॉलीवुड में एक अभिनेत्री के तौर पर पहचान दिलाई। आईये सुनते हैं 1949 में आई बरसात फिल्म से लता मंगेशकर द्वाया गाया ये गीत-
