DATELINE 1- SIKKIM’S 51ST STATEHOOD DAY
Sikkim A land where mountains touch the clouds. But beyond its breathtaking beauty lies a story that makes every Indian proud. Today, Sikkim is celebrating its 51st Statehood Day. And across the country, wishes have poured in from the nation’s top leaders. President Droupadi Murmu described Sikkim as a shining example of sustainable development.
राष्ट्रपति ने सिक्किम की प्राकृतिक सुंदरता, समृद्ध सांस्कृतिक विरासत और पर्यावरण संरक्षण के प्रति उसकी गहरी प्रतिबद्धता की सराहना की। वास्तव में सरबजीत, इससे बेहतर उदाहरण शायद ही कोई हो सकता है। सिक्किम दुनिया का पहला और एकमात्र पूरी तरह से जैविक (ऑर्गेनिक) राज्य है, जहाँ विकास और प्रकृति एक-दूसरे के साथ संतुलन बनाकर आगे बढ़ते हैं।
Have you ever noticed how rare that balance is today? Cities often grow at the cost of rivers, forests, and clean air. Yet Sikkim chose a different path.

Officially, Sikkim became India’s 22nd state on this day in 1975. That is why Statehood Day is celebrated today. But the golden jubilee celebrations had continued throughout the year, eventually culminating in a grand ceremony in April this year, where Prime Minister Modi joined the people of the state in Gangtok.

Standing at the iconic Paljor Stadium in Gangtok, the Prime Minister called Sikkim the “Heaven of the East.” And it did not sound like a political line. It sounded personal.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also praised Sikkim’s achievements, saying the state continues to inspire the nation – whether through organic farming or redefining mountain tourism. That phrase, “redefining mountain tourism,” says a lot. Tourism in many places often becomes overcrowded and chaotic. But Sikkim offers something different. Clean streets. Respect for nature. Quiet monasteries. Local markets selling handmade products.
बिल्कुल सही कहा सरबजीत, यात्री केवल तस्वीरें लेकर ही वापस नहीं लौटते; बल्कि वे अपने साथ शांति, सुकून और खुशी का एहसास भी लेकर जाते हैं। यही कारण है कि प्रधानमंत्री मोदी ने लोगों को सिक्किम घूमने और ‘वोकल फॉर लोकल’ पहल के तहत वहाँ के स्थानीय उत्पादों तथा हस्तशिल्प को बढ़ावा देने के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया।।
Because when someone buys local handwoven products from Gangtok, or tastes organic produce grown in Sikkim’s villages, they are not only shopping. They are helping preserve livelihoods, traditions, and an entire way of life.

For many years, people spoke about the Northeast as if it was distant from the rest of India. Today, the conversation is changing. Roads, railways, tourism, sports, digital connectivity, and cultural exchanges are bringing the region closer to the national mainstream while preserving its unique identity.

India and the UAE are partnering to set up an 8 Exaflop Super Computing Cluster. That sounds highly technical, but its impact could touch millions of lives. Faster supercomputers can help India improve weather forecasting, scientific research, healthcare systems, defence technology, and AI innovation.

KOHIMA INTRO;
A major step towards preserving Nagaland’s indigenous heritage has taken shape with the inauguration of the Nagaland Indigenous Tribes Cultural Resource Centre, in Kohima this month. The centre aims to preserve, document, and promote the rich traditions of the state’s indigenous communities through art, crafts, music, folklore, and storytelling.
“The Nagaland Indigenous Tribes Cultural Resource Centre was inaugurated by Advisor for Art and Culture, K Konngam Konyak on May 7. Constructed at a cost of over one thousand two hundred eighty-three lakh rupees, the project was jointly funded by the Central and State governments. The three-storey building houses a district museum, library, seminar hall, and dedicated tribal spaces representing all sixteen tribes of Nagaland. The facility is expected to serve as a hub for exhibitions, research, learning, documentation, and cultural exchange while also fostering unity and mutual understanding among tribal communities. Advisor for Art and Culture, K Konngam Konyak, described the centre as a living cultural space for future generations.
The project, first sanctioned in 2011, faced delays after funding was discontinued. The State Government later revived the project using its own resources, leading to its completion earlier this year. The Nagaland Indigenous Tribes Cultural Resource Centre now stands as a symbol of cultural pride, unity, and preservation for generations to come. For Parikrama, Asonuo from Kohima.”

“Muth, a small village in Sindhudurg, has crossed a major milestone by becoming the first village in the state of Maharashtra to complete the self-enumeration process. It is a small village of just 36 houses, 43 families, and a total population of 144.
