Today, we gather in remembrance of an event that left an indelible mark on our history, on our hearts, and on our nation. Today, on Partition Horrors Remembrance Day, we pause to reflect on the pain, suffering, and sacrifices endured by millions of people during the Partition of India in 1947.

In a fitting tribute to all those who lost their lives due to the partition of the nation and were displaced from their roots, in 2021, the Government had decided to observe 14th of August every year as the day to commemorate their sacrifice.

DATELINE 02 - Har Ghar Tiranga campaign
आजादी का अमृत महोत्सव के तत्वावधान में शुरू किया गया हर घर तिरंगा अभियान, भारत के राष्ट्रीय ध्वज के साथ संबंध को एक विशुद्ध रूप से औपचारिक और संस्थागत प्रतीक से बदलकर एक गहन व्यक्तिगत संबंध में बदलने के तरीके के रूप में देखा गया था।
The idea is simple yet profound - to encourage every citizen to bring the Tiranga home, hoist it with pride, and celebrate India’s independence as a shared and heartfelt experience.
"हर घर तिरंगा" पहल का उद्देश्य प्रत्येक नागरिक के भीतर देशभक्ति की गहरी भावना जगाना और हमारे राष्ट्रीय ध्वज के महत्व की बेहतर समझ को बढ़ावा देना है। इसी भावना के साथ, संस्कृति मंत्रालय MyGov के सहयोग से भारत के पूजनीय राष्ट्रीय ध्वज, हमारे प्रिय तिरंगे के बारे में जागरूकता फैलाने की पहल कर रहा है।
The Ministry of Culture launched the fourth edition of its Har Ghar Tiranga campaign to mark India’s 79th Independence Day on August 15, 2025. Har Ghar Tiranga campaign, a part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, runs from August 2 to August 15. The initiative encourages citizens to hoist the national flag, and share their participation through a government portal. Participants can get a digital certificate and an optional e-card by completing the online process.
From its inception, Har Ghar Tiranga has grown beyond an annual programme into a mass people’s movement. Over the years, it has drawn unprecedented participation from every corner of the country - from bustling cities to remote villages, from corporate offices to schools, from defence forces to self-help groups.

79 मे स्वतंत्रता दिवस के लिए पूरे देश मे तैयारिया जोरों पर है। नई दिल्ली के ऐतिहासिक लाल किले पर देश का 79वां स्वतंत्रता दिवस कल पूरे सम्मान और उत्साह के साथ मनाया जाएगा। इस बार इस समारोह में देश भर के 210 पंचायत नेता विशेष अतिथि के रूप में उपस्थित रहेंगे। इन विशेष अतिथियों में गुजरात की एक महिला सहित तीन सरपंच शामिल हैं। गुजरात से आमंत्रित तीनों सरपंचों ने अपने-अपने गाँवों में स्वच्छता, बुनियादी सुविधाओं का विकास और विकासोन्मुखी योजनाओं को सफलतापूर्वक लागू किया है और अपने गाव को आदर्श गाव बनाया है। आइए सुनते हैं एक रिपोर्ट:
“नवसारी जिले के जलालपुर तालुका के सुल्तानपुर गाँव के सरपंच शशिकांत पटेल कहते हैं कि सुल्तानपुर गुजरात का पहला गाँव है जहाँ दिव्यांगों के लिए शौचालय पर ब्रेल लिपि में साइन बोर्ड लगाया गया है। गाँव में जनभागीदारी से "हर घर, नल से जल" योजना का क्रियान्वयन किया जा रहा है। साथ ही, गाँव को खुले में शौच से मुक्त (ODF) आदर्श गाँव घोषित किया गया है। इन मेहमानों में से एक हैं सीमावर्ती कच्छ जिले के अंजार तालुका के भीमासर गाँव की सरपंच दाईबेन हुनबल, जो बताती हैं कि उनके गाँव के हर घर में शौचालय और कचरा निपटान की अलग व्यवस्था है। इसके अलावा, ग्रीन भीमासर परियोजना जैसी पहलों के माध्यम से सतत विकास को बढ़ावा दिया जा रहा है। गीले कचरे से खाद और सूखे कचरे के प्लास्टिक का पुनर्चक्रण कर आय उत्पन्न होती है।जिससे यह “ग्रामीण विकास का आदर्श गाँव”कहलाता है।
स्वतंत्रता दिवस पर पंचायत नेताओं की उपस्थिति जनभागीदारी का प्रतीक है। परिक्रमा के लिए अहमदाबाद से मैं अपर्णा खूंट."

देश भर में इन दिनों हर घर तिरंगा अभियान चल रहा है। इस बीच, छत्तीसगढ़ के बालोद जिले के बघमरा गांव में स्व-सहायता समूहों की महिलाएं स्वतंत्रता दिवस के लिए दिन-रात तिरंगा झण्डा बनाने में जुटी हुई है। चार समूहों की करीब बीस महिलाएं अब तक छह हजार से अधिक तिरंगे तैयार कर चुकी हैं। इससे इन समूहों को करीब दो लाख रूपये की आमदनी हुई है। स्व-सहायता समूह की सदस्य सरिता साहू ने बताया कि उन्हें तिरंगा बनाने में गर्व की अनुभूति हो रही है।
इस पहल से ये महिलाएं न सिर्फ आर्थिक रूप से मजबूत बन रही हैं, बल्कि अपने क्षेत्र में राष्ट्र प्रेम की भावना को भी विकसित कर रही हैं।

In a first-of-its-kind approach in the country, the Assam government started the Co-district concept across the State for governance reform and taking the governance to the grass root levels. Recently, the State government inaugurated 10 more new co-districts. More from our Correspondent:
"The creation of these co-districts are seen as a crucial reform aimed at decentralizing administration, improving the delivery of public services and strengthening welfare measures at the local level. These co-districts are also reducing the administrative burden on larger parent districts. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa led government in October last year inaugurated the first co-districts in the State. The Co-Districts have jurisdiction on the services like land revenue, administrative and magisterial powers, food and civil supplies, excise, disaster management, development and welfare work of the people. At present, 49 co-districts have been operational in the state and government plans to establish a total of 78 co-districts across Assam. Aminul AKAHSVANI Guwahati."

The West Bengal government is exploring the possibility of introducing Kurmali as a medium of instruction at the primary level in Kurmi-dominated regions such as Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura, and Paschim Medinipur. In this regard, the state’s School Education Department has recently written to the State Scheduled Caste Advisory Council seeking its opinion. We have a report;
"The letter states that a policy-level decision has been taken to introduce Kurmali language education in the state. Following the same model used to implement Santhali-medium education, the government is considering launching Kurmali within existing Bengali-medium schools in Kurmi-dominated areas. The Kurmi community has long been demanding primary education in their mother tongue. With Santhali already implemented as a medium of instruction in certain areas, similar steps are now being considered for Kurmali. According to the letter sent by the School Education Department to the Special Secretary and Member Secretary of the SC Advisory Council, representations from various Kurmi organizations submitted through the district school inspectors of Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura, and Paschim Medinipur have been attached with the proposal. It has been suggested that Kurmali departments be initiated within the existing Bengali-medium schools in these regions. To implement the plan, a proposal has been made to form an expert committee. This committee, comprising individuals proficient in Kurmali, will begin the process of translating primary-level textbooks and curriculum from Bengali to Kurmali. Government officials indicated that the structural model used during the introduction of Santhali-medium education could be followed in this case as well. The proposal has been issued with the recommendation of the School Education Commissioner and the approval of the State Education Minister, according to department sources. The Prime Minister's Development Initiative for North East Region, prominently known as PM-DevINE scheme has been bringing transformation into the lives of millions in the north east region of the country. To know more about this success story of PM DeVINE scheme in Tripura, we have a report filed by our Agartala correspondent:
"Great Seer Swami Vivekananda had said; bring all light into the world; light, bring light ! Let light come unto everyone; the tasks will not be finished till everyone has reached the Lord. Bring light to the poor… this famous quote of the venerated Hindu spiritual leader holds huge significance and relevance even now as we take a look at the transformation which PM DeVINE scheme has been bringing into the lives of people. Being deprived of basic necessity of having a power connection, there are about 170 hamlets where power connection has actually reached and it is evident from the joy that is visible on the faces of people living there. Gone are the days, when people had to sit in their homes with the help of a speck of light coming from the lantern once it turned dark. With no power connection, students could not study and had no option but to either sit idle or go to sleep. Even though mobile phones are found in the hands of people residing in these hamlets but due to lack of power they had to reach the marketplace 10 kilometers away from their hamlets to charge their phones. Talking to Akashvani News, Director of Tripura Renewable Energy Development Agency, Debbrata Sukladas said that TREDA which has been implementing the project in the far flung hamlets has been targeting to complete power connections in all the 275 hamlets by September this year, three months before the deadline.
It is to be mentioned that in 2023 the Sarkhi Para had made headlines after the people from these hamklets got an opportunity with Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually on the implementation and success of this programme at their hamlet. Officials said that solar micro-grid power plant which is equipped with a capacity of 3.3 mega watt will illuminate the lives of scores of people living in the remote hilly areas. Remembering the legendary Shammi Kapoor, cinema idol of the 1950’s and 1960’s, died on August 11. To an entire generation of Indians, Mr Kapoor gave hope, cheer and laughter. I still remember him in Janwaar and went fascinated as Shammi Kapoor wooed his love with his Lal Chadi, sang Tumse Acha kaun hai wrapped in a blanket, played pranks and, all in all, entertained viewers. The best film of his career was probably Teesri manzil in 1966.
