The budget session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly began today with the address of Governor Anandiben Patel. The joint session of both houses of the state legislature witnessed uproar and sloganeering by opposition members. In her speech, the Governor stated the achievements of the state government. She said that six crore people had been lifted out of poverty in the state. She especially mentioned the arrangements of Kumbh and said that over 65 crore people attended the 2025 Maha Kumbh, and over 21 crore have attended the Magh Mela 2026 in Prayagraj. As soon as the governor completed her address amidst the pandemonium created by opposition members, both houses were adjourned till tomorrow.
Finance Minister of state Suresh Khanna will present the Budget for the financial year 2026-27 in the House on February 11. The proceedings of the House are proposed to continue until February 20.
