Buddha’s Sacred Relics to Be Taken to Russia’s Kalmykia Republic for First-Ever Exposition

The Government has announced that the sacred relics of Buddha will be taken from India to the Kalmykia Republic of Russia for an exposition. The Ministry of Culture said that the exposition will be held in the capital city of Elista between 11th to 18th of this month aiming to bless local devotees and conduct religious service for the predominantly Buddhist population of the region. This marks the first-ever exposition of Buddha’s relics in the Russian Republic of Kalmykia. The holy relics will be accompanied by a high-level delegation of 11 senior Indian monks, led by Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, who will also participate in various associated events during the visit.
The event is being organised by the Ministry of Culture, in collaboration with the International Buddhist Confederation, the National Museum, and the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts. The Ministry further informed that a memorandum of understanding is also expected to be signed between the Central Spiritual Administration of Buddhists and the International Buddhist Confederation during the event.
