BJP hit out at Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav today for allegedly insulting Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar. Talking to the Media in New Delhi today, Law and Justice Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said that a poster of the Samajwadi Party shows one half of Babasaheb and the other half is that of Akhilesh Yadav. Mr Meghwal described this as an insult to Dr Ambedkar and accused the SP chief of attempting to garner votes of the people belonging to the Dalit community through such imagery.
Mr Meghwal further alleged that the Congress party was responsible for Dr Ambedkar’s defeat in the 1952 general elections and the 1953 bye-election. He questioned how the Dalit community could support Akhilesh Yadav, given his alliance with the Congress.
Responding to a question about the opposition’s demand for a special session of Parliament over the Pahalgam terror attack, Mr Meghwal said that they have received a letter in this regard. He added that the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs will have a discussion on this.
Earlier, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the special session of the Parliament over the Pahalgam terror attack.
