The BJP today hit out at the Congress, alleging that the country’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, did not want the rebuilding of the Somnath temple after Independence due to his appeasement politics. Addressing the media in New Delhi, BJP Spokesperson Sudhanshu Trivedi said, the BJP has no personal animosity towards Mr Nehru and the opposition’s political ideologies.
Mr Trivedi also said that V. N. Gadgil, who was thena Cabinet Minister in the Nehru government, wrote in his book stating that a Congress Minister had said that Mr Nehru was always concerned about his image in Pakistan.
