BJP National President starts election nominations at party headquarters in New Delhi

The filing of nominations for the election to the BJP national president has begun at the party headquarters in New Delhi. According to the poll schedule, nominations can be filed till 4:00 PM today. Several Union Ministers, including Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, JP Nadda, Nitin Gadkari, G Kishan Reddy, Manohar Lal Khattar, among others, have arrived at the party headquarters. Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Goa CM Pramod Sawant and Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma have also arrived.
 
The withdrawal of nominations will remain open till 6:00 PM this evening. After the completion of the nomination process, polling, if required, will take place tomorrow. The official announcement of the new BJP national president will be made on the same day. The BJP’s national president is elected by an electoral college comprising representatives from the party’s national council and state councils. At present, the post is held by Union Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda. Mr Nadda was appointed as the BJP’s National Working President in June 2019 and was later elected unopposed as party president in January 2020, succeeding then President Amit Shah.
