BJP has hit out at the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh over the imposition of fees on a Hindu religious pilgrimage in the state. Briefing media in New Delhi today, party spokesperson Prem Shukla blamed the state government for charging a fee from the devotees who visit Churdhar to pay obeisance at the Shirgul Maharaj temple. He said, lakhs of people from Shimla, Solan, Sirmour and also from Uttarakhand come to the temple of Chudhar to worship Shirgul Dev Maharaj. Mr Shukla said farmers of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand offer their first crop to the deity. He said earlier also the Congress government had taken the decision to collect an amount of money from 35 trusts of Hindu temples, which are already under the control of the government. BJP demands that the Himachal government immediately withdraw such decisions.
