Bihar: Newly elected MLAs of NDA to meet in Patna today to elect their leader

In Bihar, the National Democratic Alliance, NDA will elect the leader of the legislative party today. All 202 legislators from the NDA coalition partners – the Bharatiya Janata Party, Janata Dal (United), Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha, and Rashtriya Lok Morcha – will elect their leader. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is expected to be elected as the leader of the NDA legislative party.

 

He will stake his claim to form the government today itself. Once Nitish Kumar is elected as the NDA legislative party leader, he will go to Raj Bhavan to submit his resignation to Governor Arif Mohammed Khan. The 243-member current Assembly’s term will also end today, as the Cabinet has recommended its dissolution effective from today. Separate meetings of the BJP and JD(U) legislative parties are also scheduled to be held this morning. The BJP meeting will be held at the Party’s state headquarters in Patna under the supervision of the party’s central observers.

 

Meanwhile, Preparations for the swearing-in ceremony of the Chief Minister at Patna’s historic Gandhi Maidan are in full swing. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Ministers from NDA-ruled states, and many other dignitaries will be attending the event. BJP State President Dr Dilip Jaiswal has said, around three lakh people are expected to witness the ceremony at Gandhi Maidan.
