Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will transfer an amount of 10,000 rupees each into the bank accounts of 25 lakh women beneficiaries today under the recently launched Mukhiya Mantri Mahila Rozgar Yojana. Introduced ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections, the Scheme aims to make women economically self-reliant and empower them financially and to check migration to other regions. According to the Rural Development Department, women whose businesses run successfully under the scheme will be provided additional assistance of up to 2 lakh rupees. The state government has fixed 14 dates between October and December this year for the transfer of the 10,000 rupees as an assistance amount every Friday.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched this scheme virtually on the 26th of last month. On that occasion, 10,000 rupees each were transferred into the bank accounts of 75 lakh women beneficiaries. The scheme will be implemented through Self-Help Groups (SHGs). More than 1 crore 10 lakh beneficiaries have applied for the Chief Minister Women Employment Scheme.
