Bihar is celebrating its 114th Foundation Day today. On this day in 1912, Bihar was carved out of Bengal and granted the status of a separate state. A three-day state-level ceremony is being organized at Gandhi Maidan in Patna to mark Bihar Divas.
The theme of this day is “Unnat Bihar, Ujjwal Bihar” (Progressive Bihar, Bright Bihar). On this occasion, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar will inaugurate the state-level function at Gandhi Maidan in Patna. Governor Lieutenant General (Rtd) Syed Ata Hasnain will address the closing ceremony on March 24. Several renowned artists from across the country will perform during the celebrations.
President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President C.P. Radhakrishnan and Prime Minister Narendra Modi have extended greetings to the people of Bihar living in the country and abroad on the occasion of Bihar Foundation Day.
In a social media post, President Murmu described Bihar as the land of the world’s first republic and the birthplace of glorious empires as well as rich cultural and spiritual traditions. She highlighted that the State has always enriched India through its contributions in various fields. She also expressed confidence that the people of the state, with their immense talent and hard work, will play a significant role in the development of Bihar as well as the entire country.
Vice President C. P. Radhakrishnan said that the historic land, enriched by the glorious heritage of knowledge and culture, has made invaluable contributions to the country’s legacy and progress. He wished that the state continue to advance on the path of sustained development and prosperity and that the people there lead lives filled with happiness, peace, and abundance.
Furthermore, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Bihar, which adds grandeur and divinity to India’s heritage, is continuously scripting new chapters of progress. He also expressed confidence that the dedication and capability of the hardworking and energetic people of the state will play a significant role in achieving the vision of a developed Bihar alongside a developed India.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah has extended greetings to the people of Bihar on the occasion of Bihar’s 114th Foundation Day today. In a social media post, Mr Shah described that state for its rich culture, traditions and unique arts. He added that Bihar has always shown the country the path to social justice and intellectual awakening. Home Minister Amit Shah highlighted that from the glorious centres of learning like Nalanda and Vikramshila to its role in the freedom struggle and the Emergency period, the state has made invaluable contributions to nation-building in every era. The Home Minister noted that Bihar is now creating new benchmarks of progress and advancement while preserving its vast heritage and traditions.
