The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced India’s squad for the upcoming five-match T20 series against New Zealand and the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The Men’s Selection Committee yesterday picked a 15-member squad with Suryakumar Yadav as Captain and all-rounder Axar Patel as Vice-Captain. The squad also includes Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Rinku Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakaravarthy, Washington Sundar and Ishan Kishan.
The squad’s announcement was followed by a press conference at the BCCI HQ in Mumbai. On dropping Shubman Gill from the team, Chief Selector Ajit Agarkar said that Gill was short of a little bit of runs at the moment and the team went with different combination. Moreover, on including Ishan Kishan in the squad after a long time, Agarkar said that he bats at the top in white-ball cricket and he’s been in good form.
