Baloch Liberation Army Launches Major Attack in Balochistan

The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) launched a major assault in the Mongochar area of Kalat district, Balochistan, blocking the Quetta-Karachi National Highway (N-25). BLA set multiple government buildings on fire. Balochistan is a province in the southwestern region of Pakistan.

The attack, claimed by the BLA’s Fateh Squad, began with armed militants halting traffic and searching buses and private vehicles. Militants then seized and set ablaze several key government offices, including NADRA, the Judicial Complex, and the National Bank of Pakistan. The BLA described the raid as part of its ongoing “struggle for liberation”. Security forces later moved in, restoring traffic and launching a counter-operation.

In a related incident, BLA militants intercepted a police van transporting prisoners from Gadani jail to Quetta. At least 10 prisoners were freed, and five policemen were taken hostage. The van, driver, and two plainclothes officers were later released.

Meanwhile, the Baloch National Movement (BNM) organised a protest and a photo exhibition in the Dutch city of Utrecht, urging the Netherlands and the international community to publicly condemn what it termed as grave atrocities committed by Pakistan against the Baloch people.

The protest, led by the BNM’s Netherlands chapter, aimed to amplify the voices of the Baloch people and draw attention to Pakistan’s ongoing human rights violations, including the controversial “kill and dump” policy, enforced disappearances, and the systemic “abuse of ethnic and political minorities” in Balochistan.
