Asia Cup: Bangladesh Keep Super Four Hopes Alive with Narrow Win Over Afghanistan

In the Asia Cup Cricket Tournament, Bangladesh clinched a dramatic eight-run victory over Afghanistan in a close Group B match at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi last night.
Batting first after winning the toss, Bangladesh posted a total of 154 runs for 5 in their stipulated 20 overs, led by opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim’s 52. 
 
 
In response, chasing a target of 155 runs, Afghanistan were all out for 146 runs in their stipulated twenty overs. For Afghanistan, Rahmanullah Gurbaz with 35 was the highest scorer, while Azmatullah Omarzai made 30 runs. For Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman scalped three wickets, while Nasum Ahmed, Taskin Ahmed and Rishad Hossain took two wickets each. Nasum Ahmed was declared Player of the Match. This win keeps Bangladesh’s chances of reaching the Super Four alive, making Group B very competitive.
 
 
Today, Pakistan will face the United Arab Emirates in a Group A match at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, starting at 8 PM IST.
