Andhra Pradesh CM, Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to lay foundation for Google AI data centre in Visakhapatnam

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Union Minister for Electronics & Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw will lay the foundation stone for Google’s AI Data Centre in Visakhapatnam today.

Google will invest nearly 15 billion US dollars in the project. The one-gigawatt facility is planned across 600 acres in the Tharluwada, Adavivaram, and Rambilli regions. Supported by upcoming subsea cable connectivity, the centre will provide advanced AI cloud infrastructure and large-scale data storage services. AdaniConneX and Airtel Nxtra are partners in the project.

The Andhra Pradesh government aims to develop a 6.5-gigawatt digital hub across the state. The project is expected to create jobs in artificial intelligence, cloud services, cybersecurity, and data science sectors. It is also expected to attract investments in power systems, cooling technologies, networking, and semiconductor industries.

The government is also planning green energy support and improved infrastructure, including the upcoming Bhogapuram International Airport. The project is expected to strengthen Visakhapatnam’s position as a major technology hub in Asia.
