All India Radio Aizawl marks 90th anniversary with lamp-lighting ceremony

A lamp lighting ceremony to commemorate the 90th anniversary of All India Radio was held today at its Aizawl station in Tuikhuahtlang.

Addressing the gathering, Station Director of All India Radio Aizawl and Mizoram Cluster Head, DR Lalropuia, reflected on the organisation’s early years. He noted that All India Radio was established on 8 June 1936 and had served as a key source of entertainment even before India’s independence. He added that the broadcaster not only disseminated news but also fostered a connection between the government and the public, contributing to national development. He further remarked that radio continues to be a trusted medium and retains a special place in people’s lives, playing a role in the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047.

All India Radio Aizawl has announced a series of events to celebrate the milestone, including a walkathon. The main celebration is scheduled for 8 June at Vanapa Hall, with Lalduhoma expected to attend as the chief guest.
