In view of the recent political development in neighbouring Bangladesh, the passenger bus service from Agartala to Kolkata via Dhaka has resumed today after a long break. The Royal Maitree Bus operated by Tripura Road Transport Corporation (TRTC) reached Tripura at 12 noon through the Akhaura International Land Port in Agartala.
Tripura Transport and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury and TRTC Chairman Samar Roy were present to formally welcome the arriving passengers.
Transport Minister Shri Chowdhury expressed happiness over the resumption of this service. He said that Bangladesh is like a family member. He also expressed hope about the role of the newly elected government of Bangladesh in overall relations, including bilateral trade and tourism.
Meanwhile, the passengers of the bus coming from Kolkata said that the resumption of this service has provided many benefits. They also expressed happiness that there were no problems on the way.
