The government has approved over 153 crore rupees of additional central assistance to Manipur, affected by a hailstorm during the year 2024. The decision was taken in a high-level committee chaired by the Union Home Minister Amit Shah. According to the Home Ministry, the centre has released over 20 thousand 264 crore rupees to 28 states under the State Disaster Response Fund and more than 5 thousand 160 crore rupees under the National Disaster Response Force to 19 states during the financial year 2024-25. Besides, four thousand 984 crore rupees from the State Disaster Mitigation Fund to 19 states and over 719 crore rupees from the National Disaster Mitigation Fund to eight states have also been released.
