Master actor and filmmaker Aamir Khan captivated audiences at WAVES 2025 with a heartfelt and insightful session on “The Art of Acting”, held on the Creatosphere stage. Known for his unmatched dedication and versatility, Aamir shared practical wisdom drawn from his decades in the industry, despite not being formally trained as an actor.

He said that he wanted to study at the National School of Drama but wasn’t able to. Instead, he learnt on the job, picking up insights along the way that worked for him. Aamir emphasised that the foundation of a strong performance lies in understanding the character.

Known for his intense preparation, Aamir Khan admitted that he has a weak memory, which is why he writes down all his dialogues by hand and always begins with the most difficult scenes. Looking ahead, he reflected on the impact of technology in filmmaking, noting that AI can now digitally insert actors into scenes, a development he described as both amazing and a bit scary. Aamir Khan’s session was a rare glimpse into the mindset and discipline of one of Indian cinema’s most respected creators.
