A total of 7075.78 Megawatts of rooftop solar capacity has been installed in the country under the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana scheme in the residential sector. Replying during the question hour in Rajya Sabha, Minister of State for New and Renewable Energy, Shripad Yesso Naik said the scheme aims to achieve rooftop solar installations in one crore households in the residential sector by financial year of 2026-27 with an outlay of 75,021 crore rupees. Under the scheme Gujarat is number one state in the roof top installation with a total capacity of 1,828.05 MW.
In another question, the Minister stated that it is a demand driven scheme for installation of rooftop solar (RTS) systems, wherein all residential consumers in the country having grid connected electricity connection of the local DISCOM can avail the benefits by applying on the National Portal of the scheme. The Minister said a total of 53,54,099 applications have been received on the National Portal and 19,17,698 RTS systems have been installed across the country. He further added that a total of 13,793.15 crore rupees has been disbursed under Central Financial Assistance (CFA) to the beneficiaries of the scheme.
